 Wear seat belt, motorcycle helmet,
eye protection and protective gear. Keep your body completely inside
the vehicle at all times. Keep both hands on the steering
wheel. Be sure passengers are
seated, belted, and holding onto the
handholds. Make sure all doors are
shut.
 Use care when turning:
 Brace yourself by pressing
your feet firmly on the floor
boards and keep a firm grip
on the steering wheel or
handholds. Do not put your hands or feet
outside of the vehicle for any
reason.
 Drive straight up and down inclines, not
across them. If crossing a hill is unavoidable,
drive slowly and turn downhill immediately if
you feel the vehicle may tip. Avoid paved surfaces. Turn gradually and go
slowly if you must drive on pavement. This
vehicle is designed for off-road use only. Turning the steering wheel too far or
too fast can result in a rollover or
loss of control. Slow down before entering a turn. When making tight turns from a stop or
at slow speeds, avoid sudden or hard
acceleration. Avoid sideways sliding, skidding, or
fishtailing, and never do donuts.
 This vehicle is intended for use
only by an operator 16 or older
with a valid motor vehicle license. Passengers and driver must be able to
place both feet flat on the floorboard while
seated upright with their backs against the
seat backs. Do not drive or ride as passenger after
using drugs or alcohol. Do not operate on public roads.

On-Command differential gear lock indicator
light “DIFF. LOCK”
This indicator light comes on with the On-Com-
mand drive indicator “” in the display when the
vehicle is in the “DIFF LOCK” drive mode.
When the On-Command drive knob is turned to
“DIFF LOCK”, the On-Command differential gear
lock indicator light flashes together with the drive
indicator “” until the front differential gear is
locked. (See pages 4-9–4-11, 4-39 and 6-17–
6-19.)
The electrical circuit of the indicator light can be
checked by turning the key to “” (on). If the indi-
cator light does not come on initially when the key
is turned to “” (on), or if the indicator light re-
mains on, have a Yamaha dealer check the electri-
cal circuit.

Coolant temperature warning light “”
If the coolant temperature reaches a specified lev-
el, this light comes on to warn that the coolant tem-
perature is too hot. If the light comes on during
operation, stop the engine as soon as it is safe to
do so and allow the engine to cool down for about
10 minutes. (See page 8-154.)
The electrical circuit of the warning light can be
checked by turning the key to “” (on). If the
warning light does not come on initially when the
key is turned to “” (on), or if the warning light re-
mains on, have a Yamaha dealer check the electri-
cal circuit.NOTICE

The engine may overheat if the vehicle is
overloaded. If this happens, reduce the
load to specification.


After restarting, make sure that the warn-
ing light is out. Continuous use while this
warning light is on may cause damage to
the engine.

engine. When this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer
check the self-diagnosis system. (See page 4-35

Electric Power Steering warning light “EPS”
This warning light comes on if there is a problem in
the EPS. When this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer
check the EPS system. If the engine stalls and the
key is in the “” (on) position, the EPS warning
light comes on to indicate that the power assis-
tance for the steering is not functioning.
The electrical circuit of the warning light can be
checked by turning the key to “” (on). If the
warning light does not come on, have a Yamaha
dealer check the electrical circuit. If the warning
light comes on, and does not go off after starting
the engine, have a Yamaha dealer check the elec-
trical circuit.TIPIf the steering load is too heavy (i.e., excessive
steering use when the vehicle is traveling at a slow
speed), the power assist is reduced to protect the
EPS motor from overheating.
