Yamaha TT-R125/TT-R125E/TT-R125LW/
TT-R125LWE. This model is the culmination
of Yamaha’s vast experience in the produc-
tion of pacesetting racing machines. It repre-
sents the highest grade of craftsmanship and
reliability that have made Yamaha a leader.
This manual explains operation, inspection,
basic maintenance and tuning of your
machine. If you have any questions about this
manual or your machine, please contact your
Yamaha dealer.

As improvements are made on this model,
some data in this manual may become out-

CAUTION:
Before starting the machine, perform the
checks in the pre-operation check list.
WARNING
Never start or run the engine in a closed
area. The exhaust fumes are poisonous;
they can cause loss of consciousness and
death in a very short time. Always operate
the machine in a well-ventilated area.
STARTING A COLD ENGINE
TT-R125/TT-R125LW
1. Shift the transmission into neutral.
2. Turn the fuel cock to “ON” and full open
the starter knob (CHOKE).
3. With the throttle completely closed start
the engine by kicking the kickstarter
crank forcefully with firm stroke.
4. Run the engine at idle or slightly higher
until it warms up: this usually takes about
one or two minutes.
5. The engine is warmed up when it
responds normally to the throttle with the
starter knob (CHOKE) turned off.
CAUTION:
Do not warm up the engine for extended
periods.

NOTE:
This model is equipped with an ignition circuit
cut-off system. The engine can be started
under the following conditions.
When the transmission is in neutral.
When the clutch is disengaged with the
transmission in any position. However, it is
recommended to shift into neutral before
starting the engine.
1. Shift the transmission into neutral.
2. Turn the fuel cock to “ON” and full open
the starter knob (CHOKE).
3. Turn the main switch to “ON”.
4. With the throttle completely closed start
the engine by pushing the start switch or
by kicking the kickstarter crank forcefully
with firm stroke.

Bewußtlosigkeit bzw. zum Tode führen.
STARTEN DES KALTEN MOTORS
TT-R125/TT-R125LW
1. Das Getriebe auf Neutral schalten.
2. Den Kraftstofhahn öffnen (Position “ON”)
und den Chokezung (CHOKE) voll öffnen.
3. Den Gasdrehgriff vollständig zudrehen und
den Kickstarter kräftig durchtreten, um den
Motor zu starten.
4. Den Motor bei Leerlaufter Drehzahl) warm-
laufen lassen; für das Warmlaufen werden
normalerweise etwa eine bis zwei Minuten
benötigt.
5. Der Motor ist warmgelaufen, wenn er bei
ausgeschaltetem Chokezung (CHOKE)
normal auf das Gasgeben anspricht.
ACHTUNG:
Den Motor nicht für längere Zeit warmlaufen
lassen.

HINWEIS:
Dieses Modell ist mit einem Zündunterbre-
chungssystem ausgestattet. Der Motor kann
unter den folgenden Bedingungen gestartet wer-
den:
Wenn das Getriebe auf Leerlauf gestellt ist.
Wenn die Kupplung gelöst ist, egal, welcher
Gang eingelegt ist. Es wird aber empfohlen,
vor dem Starten des Motors auf Leerlauf zu
schalten.
1. Das Getriebe auf Neutral schalten.
2. Den Kraftstofhahn öffnen (Position “ON”)
und den Chokezung (CHOKE) voll öffnen.
3. Den Hauptschalter auf “ON” stellen.
4. Den Gasdrehgriff vollständig zudrehen und
starterknopf drücken bzw den Kickstarter
kräftig durchtreten, um den Motor zu star-
ten.

ATTENTION:
Avant de mettre le moteur en marche, effectuer les
contrôles repris dans la liste “Contrôles et entre-
tiens avant utilisation”.
AVERTISSEMENT
Ne jamais démarrer ou faire tourner le moteur
dans un endroit clos. Les fumées d’échappement
sont délétères et peuvent entraîner très rapide-
ment un évanouissement, voire la mort. Toujours
veiller à ce que l’endroit où l’on fait tourner le
moteur soit bien aéré.
MISE EN MARCHE À FROID
TT-R125/TT-R125LW
1. Mettre la boîte au point mort.
2. Placer le robinet de carburant sur “ON” et
ouvrir tout à fait le bouton de starter.
3. Les gaz étant complètement fermés, mettre le
moteur en marche en appuyant fermement d’un
coup sec sur la pédale du kick.
4. Faire tourner le moteur au ralenti ou à un
régime légèrement plus élevé jusqu’à ce que le
moteur soit chaud, c.-à-d. pendant environ une à
deux minutes.
5. Le moteur est chaud lorsqu’il il répond rapide-
ment aux mouvements de la poignée des gaz.
ATTENTION:
Ne pas faire chauffer le moteur plus longtemps que
nécessaire.

N.B.:
Cette machine est équipée d’un système de coupure
du circuit d’allumage. Les conditions suivantes doi-
vent être remplies pour que le moteur puisse être mis
en marche.
La machine doit être au point mort.
L’embrayage doit être désengagé et une vitesse
quelconque sélectionnée. Il est toutefois recom-
mandé de passer au point mort avant de mettre la
machine en marche.
1. Mettre la boîte au point mort.
2. Placer le robinet de carburant sur “ON” et
ouvrir tout à fait le bouton de démarreur.
3. Mettre le commutateur principal en position de
marche “ON”.
4. Les gaz étant complètement fermés, mettre le
moteur en marche en appuyant sur le bouton de
démarreur or en appuyant fermement d’un coup
sec sur la pédale du kick.
