EC133000GASKETS, OIL SEALS AND O-
RINGS
1. All gaskets, oil seals, and O-
rings should be replaced when
an engine is overhauled. All gas-
ket surfaces, oil seal lips, and O-
rings must be cleaned.
2. Properly oil all mating parts and
bearings during reassembly.
Apply grease to the oil seal lips.
EC134000LOCK WASHERS/PLATES AND
COTTER PINS
1. All lock washers/plates
1 and
cotter pins must be replaced
when they are removed. Lock
tab(s) should be bent along the
bolt or nut flat(s) after the bolt or
nut has been properly tightened.
EC135001BEARINGS AND OIL SEALS
1. Install the bearing(s)
1 and oil
seal(s)
2 with their manufac-
turer’s marks or numbers facing
outward. (In other words, the
stamped letters must be on the
side exposed to view.) When
installing oil seal(s), apply a light
coating of lightweight lithium
base grease to the seal lip(s). Oil
the bearings liberally when
installing.
CAUTION:
Do not use compressed air to spin
the bearings dry. This causes
damage to the bearing surfaces.

1. All circlips should be inspected
carefully before reassembly.
Always replace piston pin clips
after one use. Replace distorted
circlips. When installing a circlip
1, make sure that the sharp-
edged corner
2 is positioned
opposite to the thrust

JOINTS, BAGUES D’ETANCHEITE
ET JOINTS TORIQUES
1. Lors de la révision du moteur, tous
les joints, bagues d’étanchéité et
joints toriques doivent être rempla-
cés. Toutes les surfaces des joints,
toutes les lèvres de bagues d’étan-
chéité et tous les joints toriques doi-
vent être nettoyés.
2. Lors du remontage, huiler correcte-
ment toutes les pièces en contact et
tous les roulements. Graisser les
lèvres des bagues d’étanchéité.
RONDELLES-FREINS, FREINS
D’ECROU ET GOUPILLES
FENDUES
1. Les rondelles-freins, freins d’écrou
1 et goupilles fendues ne peuvent
jamais être réutilisés. Replier les
onglets de blocage contre la ou les
faces du boulon ou de l’écrou après
avoir correctement serré ces der-
niers.
ROULEMENTS ET BAGUES
D’ETANCHEITE
1. Monter les roulements 1 et les
bagues d’étanchéité 2 en orientant
vers l’extérieur leurs marques ou
numéros de fabricant. (En d’autres
mots, les lettres poinçonnées doi-
vent se trouver sur la face visible.)
Lors de la mise en place des bagues
d’étanchéité, appliquer une légère
couche de graisse fluide à base de
lithium sur leurs lèvres. Huiler
généreusement les roulements avant
de les mettre en place.
ATTENTION:
Ne pas sécher les roulements à l’air
comprimé. Cela endommagerait les
surfaces de roulement.
CIRCLIPS
1. Vérifier soigneusement tous les cir-
clips avant le remontage. Toujours
remplacer les circlips d’axe de pis-
ton après chaque utilisation. Rem-
placer tout circlip déformé. Lors du
montage d’un circlip 1, veiller à ce
que le côté non chanfreiné 2 soit
positionné du côté opposé à la pous-
sée 3 qu’il reçoit. Voir la vue en
coupe.

CONTROL FUNCTIONS
MAIN SWITCH
Functions of the respective switch
positions are as follows:
ON:
The engine can be started only at
this position.
OFF:
All electrical circuits are switched off.
Main switch indicator light
The main switch
1 is equipped with
an indicator light
2 to avoid forget-
ting to turn it off. This light functions
as follows.
It lights up with the main switch
“ON”.
It goes out when the engine
increases its speed after being
started.
It lights up again when the engine
is stopped.
NOTE:If the indicator light will not light up
with the main switch “ON”, it shows a
lack of the battery voltage. Recharge
the battery.
ENGINE STOP SWITCH
The engine stop switch
1 is located
on the left handlebar. Continue push-
ing the engine stop switch till the
engine comes to a stop.
START SWITCH
The start switch
1 is located on the
right handlebar. Push this switch to
crank the engine with the starter.
EC152000CLUTCH LEVER
The clutch lever
1 is located on the
left handlebar; it disengages or
engages the clutch. Pull the clutch
lever to the handlebar to disengage
the clutch, and release the lever to
engage the clutch. The lever should
be pulled rapidly and released slowly
for smooth starts.

CONTACTEUR A CLE
Les fonctions correspondant aux diffé-
rentes positions du contacteur sont les
suivantes:
ON:
Seule position permettant le démarrage
du moteur.
OFF:
Tous les circuits électriques sont coupés.
Témoin de l’interrupteur à clé
L’interrupteur à clé 1 est équipé d’un
témoin 2 afin de ne pas oublier de le
couper. Ce témoin fonctionne de la
manière suivante.
Il s’allume lorsque l’interrupteur à clé
est en position “ON”.
Il s’éteint lorsque le moteur monte en
régime après le démarrage.
Il se rallume lorsque le moteur est
coupé.
N.B.:
Si le témoin ne s’allume pas lorsque
l’interrupteur à clé est sur “ON”, c’est
que la tension de la batterie est trop fai-
ble. Recharger la batterie.
COUPE-CIRCUIT DU MOTEUR
Le coupe-circuit du moteur 1 est situé
sur la partie gauche du guidon. Appuyer
de façon continue sur le coupe-circuit du
moteur jusqu’à ce que le moteur s’arrête.
CONTACTEUR DU DEMARREUR
Le contacteur du démarreur 1 est situé
sur la partie droite du guidon. Appuyer
sur ce contacteur pour lancer le moteur à
l’aide du démarreur.
LEVIER D’EMBRAYAGE
Le levier d’embrayage 1 est situé sur la
partie gauche du guidon et permet
d’embrayer ou de débrayer. Tirer le
levier d’embrayage vers le guidon pour
débrayer et le relâcher pour embrayer.
Pour un démarrage en douceur, le levier
doit être tiré rapidement et relâché lente-
ment.

EC153000SHIFT PEDAL
The gear ratios of the constant-mesh
5 speed transmission are ideally
spaced. The gears can be shifted by
using the shift pedal
1 on the left
side of the engine.
KICKSTARTER CRANK
Rotate the kickstarter crank
1 away
from the engine. Push the starter
down lightly with your foot until the
gears engage, then kick smoothly
and forcefully to start the engine.
This model has a primary kickstarter
crank so the engine can be started in
any gear if the clutch is disengaged.
In normal practices, however, shift to
neutral before starting.

EC155001THROTTLE GRIP
The throttle grip
1 is located on the
right handlebar; it accelerates or
decelerates the engine. For acceler-
ation, turn the grip toward you; for
deceleration, turn it away from you.
EC156000FRONT BRAKE LEVER
The front brake lever
1 is located on
the right handlebar. Pull it toward the
handlebar to activate the front brake.
EC157000REAR BRAKE PEDAL
The rear brake pedal
1 is located on
the right side of the machine. Press
down on the brake pedal to activate
the rear brake.
SELECTEUR
Les 5 rapports de la boîte de vitesses à
prise constante sont idéalement échelon-
nés. Le changement de vitesse est com-
mandé par le sélecteur 1 situé sur le
côté gauche du moteur.
PEDALE DE KICK
Déployer la pédale de kick 1. Appuyer
légèrement sur la pédale pour mettre les
pignons en prise, puis l’actionner vigou-
reusement mais en souplesse pour mettre
le moteur en marche. Ce modèle est
équipé d’un démarreur au pied primaire,
de sorte qu’il est possible de démarrer
dans n’importe quel rapport à condition
de débrayer. Normalement, toutefois, on
repassera au point mort avant de démar-
rer.
POIGNEE DES GAZ
La poignée des gaz 1 est située sur la
partie droite du guidon et permet d’accé-
lérer ou de décélérer. Pour accélérer,
tourner la poignée vers soi; pour décélé-
rer, la tourner dans l’autre sens.
LEVIER DE FREIN AVANT
Le levier de frein avant 1 est situé sur la
partie droite du guidon. Le tirer vers la
poignée pour actionner le frein avant.
PEDALE DE FREIN ARRIERE
La pédale de frein arrière 1 est située du
côté droit de la moto. Appuyer sur la
pédale de frein pour actionner le frein
arrière.

CHANGEOVER TO BASIC MODE/
RACE MODE
NOTE:Measurement using the timer func-
tion can be made in RACE MODE.
Indicator will light up as an iden-
tifier that shows RACE MODE has
been selected.
RACE MODE cannot display the
functions as in BASIC MODE.
Changeover to RACE MODE
forces the digits for tripmeter A
(TRIP A) in BASIC MODE to be
reset.
Changeover from BASIC MODE to
RACE MODE
1. Push the “SLCT1” button and
“SLCT2” button for 2 seconds or
more at the same time to change
over to RACE MODE.
NOTE:Changeover to RACE MODE will put
manual start measurement on
standby causing and to flash.
(For manual start, refer to “Putting
measurement on standby” in “RACE
MODE”.)
Returning to BASIC MODE from
RACE MODE
NOTE:It is possible to return to BASIC
MODE with timer measurement at a
stop.
1. Check that the timer is not in
operation. If the timer is in opera-
tion, stop the timer by pushing
the “SLCT1” button and “SLCT2”
button at the same time.
2. Push the “SLCT1” button and
“SLCT2” button for 2 seconds or
more at the same time to change
over to BASIC MODE.

Le passage en MODE COURSE désac-
tive la mesure de démarrage
manuel, et se mettent alors à cli-
gnoter. Pour le démarrage manuel, se
reporter au titre “Désactivation de la
mesure” de la section “MODE
COURSE”).
Retour au MODE DE BASE depuis le
MODE COURSE
N.B.:
Il est possible de revenir en MODE DE
BASE avec la mesure du chronomètre
arrêtée.
1. Vérifier que le chronomètre n’est
pas en fonctionnement. S’il l’est,
arrêter le chronomètre en appuyant
sur les boutons “SLCT1” et
“SLCT2” en même temps.
2. Appuyer sur les boutons “SLCT1”
et “SLCT2” pendant 2 secondes
minimum en même temps pour pas-
ser en MODE DE BASE.

EC1B2001STORAGE
If your machine is to be stored for 60
days or more, some preventive mea-
sures must be taken to avoid deterio-
ration. After cleaning the machine
thoroughly, prepare it for storage as
follows:
1. Drain the fuel tank, fuel lines,
and the carburetor float bowl.
2. Remove the spark plug, pour a
tablespoon of SAE 10W-30
motor oil in the spark plug hole,
and reinstall the plug. With the
engine stop switch pushed in,
kick the engine over several
times to coat the cylinder walls
with oil.
3. Remove the drive chain, clean it
thoroughly with solvent, and
lubricate it. Reinstall the chain or
store it in a plastic bag tied to the
frame.
4. Lubricate all control cables.
5. Block the frame up to raise the
wheels off the ground.
6. Tie a plastic bag over the
exhaust pipe outlet to prevent
moisture from entering.
7. If the machine is to be stored in a
humid or salt-air environment,
coat all exposed metal surfaces
with a film of light oil. Do not
apply oil to rubber parts or the
seat cover.
NOTE:Make any necessary repairs before
the machine is stored.REMISAGE
Si la moto doit être remisée pour 60
jours ou plus, il convient de prendre cer-
taines précautions pour éviter tout
endommagement. Après un nettoyage
complet de la moto, la préparer comme
suit pour le remisage:
1. Vidanger le réservoir de carburant,
le circuit de carburant et la cuve à
niveau constant du carburateur.
2. Déposer la bougie, verser une
cuillère à soupe d’huile moteur SAE
10W-30 dans le trou de bougie et
replacer la bougie. Enfoncer le
coupe-circuit du moteur et lancer
quelques fois le moteur à l’aide de
la pédale de kick afin de répartir
l’huile sur les parois du cylindre.
3. Déposer la chaîne de transmission,
la nettoyer soigneusement à l’aide
d’un solvant puis la graisser.
Remettre en place la chaîne ou la
conserver dans un sachet en plasti-
que (attaché au cadre pour éviter de
l’égarer).
4. Lubrifier tous les câbles de com-
mande.
5. Placer un support sous le cadre afin
de surélever les deux roues.
6. Couvrir la sortie du tuyau d’échap-
pement d’un sachet en plastique
pour empêcher la pénétration
d’humidité.
7. Si la moto doit être remisée dans un
lieu très humide ou exposé à l’air
marin, enduire toutes les surfaces
métalliques extérieures d’une fine
couche d’huile. Ne pas enduire
d’huile les parties en caoutchouc et
la housse de selle.
N.B.:
Effectuer toutes les réparations nécessai-
res avant de remiser la moto.
