The brake light switch for the brake pedal can be
adjusted as follows, but the front brake light switch
should be adjusted by a Yamaha dealer.
Turn the rear brake light switch adjusting nut while
holding the brake light switch in place. To make the
brake light come on earlier, turn the adjusting nut
in direction (a). To make the brake light come on
later, turn the adjusting nut in direction (b).
EBU24812Adjusting the clutch lever free play The clutch lever free play must be checked and, if
necessary, adjusted at the intervals specified in the
periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. The clutch lever free play should measure 5.0
–
10.0 mm (0.20 –0.39 in) as shown. If the free play
is incorrect, adjust it as follows.
1. Slide the rubber cover back.
2. Loosen the locknut at the clutch lever.
3. To increase the clutch lever free play, turn the adjusting bolt in direction (a), and to decrease
it, turn the bolt in direction (b).
4. Tighten the locknut.
5. Slide the rubber cover back to its original po- sition.1. Rear brake light switch

5. Install the battery holding plate by installing the bolts, and then hook the band to secure
the owner ’s tool kit.
6. Install the seat.EBU25443Replacing a headlight bulb If a headlight bulb burns out, replace it as follows. 1. Remove the headlight unit by removing the bolt. 2. Disconnect the headlight coupler.
3. Remove the headlight bulb holder cover.

4. Remove the headlight bulb holder by pushing
it in and turning it counterclockwise, and then
remove the burnt-out bulb. 5. Place a new headlight bulb into position.
NOTICE: Do not touch the glass part of the
headlight bulb to keep it free from oil, oth-
erwise the transparency of the glass, the
luminosity of the bulb, and the bulb life will
be adversely affected. Thoroughly clean
off any dirt and fingerprints on the head-
light bulb using a cloth moistened with al-
cohol or thinner.

in and turning it clockwise.
7. Install the headlight bulb holder cover.
8. Connect the headlight coupler.
9. Install the headlight unit by installing the bolt.
10. Adjust the headlight beam if necessary.

EBU25720Troubleshooting Although Yamaha ATVs receive a thorough in-
spection before shipment from the factory, trouble
may occur during operation. Any problem in the fu-
el, compression, or ignition systems, for example,
can cause poor starting and loss of power.
The following troubleshooting chart represents a
quick and easy procedure for checking these vital
systems yourself. However, should your ATV re-
quire any repair, take it to a Yamaha dealer, whose
skilled technicians have the necessary tools, expe-
rience, and know-how to service the ATV properly.
Use only genuine Yamaha replacement parts. Im-
itation parts may look like Yamaha parts, but they
are often inferior, have a shorter service life and
can lead to expensive repair bills.

EWB02280Do not smoke when checking the fuel system.
Fuel can ignite or explode, causing severe inju-
ry or property damage. Make sure there are no
open flames or sparks in the area, including pi-
lot lights from water heaters or furnaces.
