EBU18571Drive select lever The drive select lever is used for driving the ATV
either forward or in reverse. See the “Operating the
drive select lever and driving in reverse” section on
page 6-3 for the drive select lever operation.
EBU18720Fuel tank cap Remove the fuel tank cap by turning it counter-
clockwise.

the starter (choke).
See the “Starting a cold engine” section on page
6-1 for proper operation.
EBU28010Steering lock To lock the steering
1. Turn the handlebar all the way to either side.
2. Open the steering lock cap, and then insert
the steering lock key.
3. Turn the key 1/8 turn counterclockwise, push
it in, and then turn the key 1/8 turn clockwise.
4. Check that the steering is locked, remove the
key, and then close the steering lock cap.

4 To unlock the steering
1. Open the steering lock cap, and then insert
the key.
2. Turn the key 1/8 turn counterclockwise to re-
lease the lock.
3. Remove the key, and then close the steering
lock cap.
EBU18880Seat To remove the seat
Pull the seat lock lever upward and pull up the seat
at the rear.To install the seat
Insert the projections on the front of the seat into
the seat holders and push down on the seat at the
rear.
NOTE:Make sure that the seat is securely fitted.EBU18990Adjusting the front shock absorber as-
semblies The spring preload can be adjusted to suit the rid-
er’s weight and the riding conditions.
Adjust the spring preload as follows.

EBU28160Headlight bulb If the headlight bulb burns out, have a Yamaha
dealer replace it.EBU28170Headlight beam If a headlight beam adjustment is necessary, have
a Yamaha dealer perform it.EBU25600Replacing the tail/brake light bulb If the tail/brake light bulb burns out, replace it as
follows.
1. Remove the lens by removing the screws.2. Remove the defective bulb by pushing it in
and turning it counterclockwise.
3. Insert a new bulb into the socket, push it in,
and then turn it clockwise until it stops.
4. Install the lens by installing the screws.
CAUTION:ECB00700Do not overtighten the screws, otherwise thelens may break.EBU28030Replacing a turn signal light bulb 1. Remove the turn signal light lens by removing
