clutch may stay engaged, so a shuddering
sensation may be felt when you come to a
stop. Stop the vehicle on level ground safely
off the main trail, and have the YCC-S system
serviced by a Yamaha dealer before further
operation.TIPIf shifting into neutral is impossible using the
shift paddles and drive select lever, proceed
as follows if it is necessary to move the vehi-
cle after it has stopped. 1. Turn the key to “ ” (off).
2. Remove panel B (page 8-10).
3. While rocking the vehicle back and forth, push the shift rod and shift arm pivot
downward (or upward if the transmission
was in reverse) until the transmission is in
neutral.
WARNING
EWB04171Turn the key to “ ” (off) before attempt-
ing to manipulate the shift rod. Other-
wise, the shift actuator may operate
unexpectedly and cause injury.
 Do not shift the transmission into neutral
if the vehicle is stopped on an incline un-

Tachometer
The tachometer shows the engine speed in
crankshaft revolutions per minute (r/min).
When the vehicle is first powered on, the ta-
chometer needle will sweep once across the
r/min range and then return to zero r/min in
order to test the electrical circuit.NOTICEECB02920Do not operate the engine in the tachome-
ter red zone.Red zone: 10500 r/min and above
Odometer and tripmeters
The odometer shows the total distance trav-
eled by the vehicle. The odometer can be
used for maintenance and service intervals.
The tripmeters show the distance traveled
since they were last reset. The tripmeters can
be used to record the distance traveled on a
single trip, or to estimate the distance that
can be traveled with a full tank of gas, etc.

WARNING
EWB00411These shock absorber assemblies contain
highly pressurized nitrogen gas. Read and
understand the following information be-
fore handling the shock absorber assem-
blies.
Do not tamper with or attempt to open
the cylinder assemblies.
 Do not subject the shock absorber as-
semblies to an open flame or other high
heat source. This may cause the unit to
explode due to excessive gas pressure. 
Do not deform or damage the cylinders
in any way. Cylinder damage will result in
poor damping performance.
 Do not dispose of a damaged or worn
out shock absorber assembly yourself.
Take the shock absorber assembly to a
Yamaha dealer for any service.

sembliesThe rear shock absorber assemblies are
equipped with a spring preload adjusting nut,
a crossover adjusting nut (for YXZ10YESH), a
rebound damping force adjusting screw (for
YXZ10YEXH), a high speed rebound damping
force adjusting bolt (for YXZ10YESH), a low
speed rebound damping force adjusting
screw (for YXZ10YESH), a high speed com-
pression damping force adjusting bolt, and a
low speed compression damping force ad-
justing screw.

Do not deform or damage the cylinders
in any way. Cylinder damage will result in
poor damping performance.
 Do not dispose of a damaged or worn
out shock absorber assembly yourself.
Take the shock absorber assembly to a
Yamaha dealer for any service. EBU35052Auxiliary DC jackThe auxiliary DC jack is located at the left side
of the glove compartment. The auxiliary DC
jack can be used for suitable work lights, ra-
dios, etc. The auxiliary DC jack should only be
used when the engine is running and the
lights are turned off.NOTICEECB02250 Do not use accessories requiring more
than the stated maximum capacity. Do-
ing so may overload the circuit and cau-
se the fuse to blow. 
If accessories are used without the en-
gine running, the battery may discharge.
 Do not use an automotive cigarette light-
er or other accessories with a plug that
gets hot, because the jack can be dam-
aged.
1. Set the light switch to “ ” (off).
2. Turn the accessory off.
3. Start the engine. (See page 6-2.)
4. Open the auxiliary DC jack cap, and then
insert the accessory power plug into the
jack.

 If any leakage is found, or if shifting is not
smooth, have a Yamaha dealer service the

check for wear and damage.
Tire pressure
Use the tire pressure gauge to check and ad-
just tire pressures when the tires are cold. Tire
pressures must be equal on both sides.
