Measurement steps:
Install the camshaft onto the cylinder
head.
Position a strip of Plastigauge® 1 onto the
camshaft.
Install the clip, dowel pins and camshaft
caps.

Bolt (camshaft cap):
10 Nm (1.0 m • kg, 7.2 ft • lb)
NOTE:
Tighten the bolts (camshaft cap) in a criss-
cross pattern from innermost to outer
caps.
Do not turn the camshaft when measuring
clearance with the Plastigauge®.
Remove the camshaft caps and measure
the width of the Plastigauge
® 1.
5. Measure:
Camshaft outside diameter a
Out of specification → Replace the
camshaft.
Within specification → Replace cam-
shaft case and camshaft caps as a set.
Camshaft sprocket
1. Inspect:

distribution. Etapes de la mesure:
Installer l’arbre à cames sur la
culasse.
Placer une bande de Plastigauge®
1 sur l’arbre à cames.
Installer le circlip, les goujons et
les chapeaux d’arbre à cames.

.Serrer les boulons de chapeau

cames et mesurer la largeur 1 du

Montare il fermaglio a graffa, i
perni di centraggio e i cappelli
dell’albero a camme.

camma e misurare la larghezza del
Plastigauge
® 1.

1. Check:
Decompression system
Checking steps:
Check that the decompression mecha-
nism cam 1 moves smoothly.
Check that the decompression mechanism
cam lever pin 2 projects from the camshaft.
Timing chain tensioner
1. Check:
While pressing the tensioner rod lightly
with fingers, use a thin screwdriver 1
and wind the tensioner rod up fully
clockwise.
When releasing the screwdriver by
pressing lightly with fingers, make sure
that the tensioner rod will come out
smoothly.
If not, replace the tensioner assembly.
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
Camshaft
1. Install:
Exhaust camshaft 1
Intake camshaft 2
Installation steps:
Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise with
a wrench.
NOTE:
Apply the molybdenum disulfide oil on the
camshafts.
Apply the engine oil on the decompression
system.
Squeezing the decompression lever
allows the crankshaft to be turned easily.
Align the T.D.C. mark a on the rotor with the
align mark b on the crankcase cover when
piston is at T.D.C. on compression stroke.

1. Kontrollieren:

Den Steuerkettenspanner-
kopf leicht mit dem Finger
eindrücken und den Span-
ner mit einem dünnen
Schraubendreher

im Uhr-
zeigersinn aufdrehen.

Den Schraubendreher durch
leichten Fingerdruck auf
dem Spannerkopf befreien;
sicherstellen, daß sich der
Spannerkopf dabei leicht-
gängig löst.

Anderenfalls den Steuerket-
tenspanner (komplett) er-
neuern.

Kurbelwelle mit einem Schrau-
benschlüssel gegen den Uhr-
zeigersinn drehen.
HINWEIS:


Das Molybdändisulfidöl auf die
Nockenwellen auftragen.

Das Motoröl auf das Dekom-
pressionssystem auftragen.

Durch Drücken des Dekom-
pressionshebels läßt sich die
Kurbelwelle leichter drehen.

Oberer-Totpunkt-Markierung

richten, wenn der Kolben im
oberen Totpunkt (OT) steht.

servant d’un tournevis fin

Après avoir retiré le tournevis
en appuyant légèrement du
doigt, vérifier si la tige du ten-
deur sort sans problème.

Si elle ne sort pas, remplacer le
tendeur.
ASSEMBLAGE ET MONTAGE

Etapes de l’installation:

Tourner le vilebrequin à l’aide
d’une clé dans le sens inverse des
aiguilles d’une montre.
N.B.:


Appliquer de l’huile au bisulfure de
molybdène sur les arbres à cames.

Appliquer de l’huile moteur sur le
système de décompression.

Actionner le levier de décompres-
sion a fin de faciliter la rotation du
rilebrequin.

Aligner le repère de PMH

le couvercle du carter quand le pis-
ton se trouve au Point Mort Haut
(PMH) sur la courge de compres-
sion.

Quando si rilascia il cacciavite
premendo leggermente con le
dita, accertarsi che l’asta del
tenditore fuoriesca agevol-
mente.

Altrimenti, sostituire il gruppo
tenditore.
MONTAGGIO ED INSTALLA-

Fasi di installazione:

Ruotare l’albero motore in senso
antiorario con una chiave.
NOTA:


Applicare olio al bisolfuro di
molibdeno sugli alberi a camme.

Applicare olio motore al sistema di
decompressione.

Schiacciando la leva di decompres-
sione la rotazione dell’albero
motore è agevole.

Allineare il riferimento PMS

Fit the timing chain 3 onto both camshaft
sprockets and install the camshafts on the
cylinder head.
NOTE:
The camshafts should be installed onto the
cylinder head so that the punch mark c on
the exhaust camshaft and the punch mark
d on the intake camshaft must align with
the cylinder head surface, as shown in the
illustration.
CAUTION:
Do not turn the crankshaft during the
camshaft installation. Damage or
improper valve timing will result.
Install the clips, camshaft caps 4 and
bolts (camshaft cap) 5.

10 Nm (1.0 m • kg, 7.2 ft • lb)
NOTE:
Before removing the clips, cover the cylin-
der head with a clean rag to prevent the
clips from into the cylinder head cavity.
Apply the engine oil on the thread and con-
tact surface of the bolts (camshaft cap).
Tighten the bolts (camshaft cap) in a criss-
cross pattern.
CAUTION:
The bolts (camshaft cap) must be tight-
ened evenly, or damage to the cylinder
head, camshaft caps, and camshaft will
result.
2. Install:
Timing chain tensioner
Installation steps:
While pressing the tensioner rod lightly
with fingers, use a thin screwdriver and
wind the tensioner rod up fully clockwise.

HINWEIS:

Die Nockenwellen sollten auf dem
Zylinderkopf installiert werden, so
daß die Stanzmarkierung

der Auslaß-Nockenwelle und die
Stanzmarkierung
d
an der Ein-
laß-Nockenwelle mit der Zylinder-
kopfoberfläche ausgeglichen sind,
wie in der Abbildung gezeigt.
ACHTUNG:

Um Beschädigung und falsche
Ventilsteuerzeiten zu vermei-
den, die Kurbelwelle während
des Nockenwelleneinbaus nicht
bewegen.

HINWEIS:


Vor dem Demontieren der Clips
den Zylinderkopf mit einem sau-
beren Werkstattlappen abdecken,
um das Eindringen von Clips in
den Zylinderkopf zu vermeiden.

Motoröl auf Gewinde und Berüh-
rungsflächen der Schrauben
(Nockenwellenkappe) auftragen.

Die Schrauben der Nockenwel-
len-Lagerdekkel kreuzweise fest-
ziehen.
ACHTUNG:

Die Schrauben der Nockenwel-
len-Lagerdeckel müssen gleich-
mäßig festgezogen werden, um
Beschädigung an Zylinderkopf,
Nockenwellen und Lagerdekkeln
zu vermeiden.
2. Montieren:

Steuerkettenspanner
Arbeitsschritte

Steuerkettenspannerkopf leicht
mit dem Finger eindrücken und
Spanner mit einem dünnen
Schraubendreher im Uhrzeiger-
sinn aufdrehen.

Placer la chaîne de distribution

sur les deux pignons d’arbre à
cames et installer les arbres à
cames dans la culasse.
N.B.:

Monter les arbres à cames dans la
culasse en veillant à ce que le repère
poinçonné

de l’arbre à cames

s’alignent sur la surface de la culasse,
comme illustré.
ATTENTION:
Ne pas faire tourner le vilebrequin
pendant la mise en place des arbres
à cames. Cela risquerait d’entraîner
une mauvaise synchronisation des
soupapes et de les endommager.
Monter, les clips les et boulons de
chapeau d’arbre d’cames 4 et les
chapeaux d’arbre à cames 5.

N.B.:
Avant de retirer les clips, couvrir la
culasse d’un chiffon propre pour
empêcher qu’ils ne tombent dans la
cavité de la culasse.
Appliquer de l’huile moteur sur
toute la surface des boulons de cha-
peau d’arbre à cames.
Serrer les boulons de chapeau
d’arbre à cames en suivant un ordre
entrecroisé.
ATTENTION:
Il importe de serrer les boulons de
chapeau d’arbre à cames uniformé-
ment pour éviter d’endommager la
culasse, les chapeaux d’arbre à
cames et l’arbre à cames.
2. Monter:
Tendeur de la chaîne de distri-
bution
Etapes du montage:
Tout en comprimant légèrement la
tige du tendeur à l’aide du doigt, la
visser complètement (tourner dans
le sens des aiguilles d’une montre)
en se servant d’un tournevis fin.
Inserire la catena di distribuzione 3
sulle due ruote dentate dell’albero a
camme e montare l’albero a camme
sulla testata del cilindro.
NOTA:
L’albero a camme va montato sulla
testata del cilindro in modo tale che la
punzonatura c sull’albero a camme
di scarico e la punzonatura d
sull’albero a camme di ammissione
siano allineate alla superficie della
testata del cilindro, come illustrato
nella figura.
ATTENZIONE:
Non ruotare l’albero motore
durante l’installazione dell’albero
a camme. Ne conseguirebbero
danni o una messa in fase delle val-
vole errata.
Installare i fermagli a graffa e i
cappelli dell’albero a camme 4 e i
bulloni (cappello dell’albero a
camme) 5.

camme):

(1,0 m • kg, 7,2 ft • lb)
NOTA:
Prima di rimuovere i fermagli a
graffa, coprire la testata del cilindro
con uno straccio pulito per impedire
che i fermagli a graffa cadano nella
cavità della testata del cilindro.
Applicare olio motore sulla filettatura
e sulla superficie di contatto dei bul-
loni (cappello dell’albero a camme).
Serrare i bulloni (cappello della
camma) in maniera incrociata.
ATTENZIONE:
I bulloni (cappello dell’albero a
camme) devono essere serrati in
maniera uniforme per evitare danni
alla testata del cilindro, ai cappelli degli
alberi a camme e agli alberi a camme.
2. Installare:
Tenditore catena di distribu-
zione
Fasi di installazione:
Premendo leggermente l’asta del
tenditore con le dita, utilizzare un
cacciavite sottile e far ruotare com-
pletamente l’asta del tenditore in
senso orario.

With the rod fully wound and the chain
tensioner UP mark a facing upward,
install the gasket 1 and the timing chain
tensioner 2, and tighten the bolt 3 to the
specified torque.

Release the screwdriver, check the ten-
sioner rod to come out and tighten the
gasket 4 and the cap bolt 5 to the speci-
fied torque.

La tige complètement vissée et le
repère UP a du tendeur de chaîne
orienté vers le haut, monter le joint 1
et le tendeur de chaîne 2, puis serrer
le boulon 3 au couple spécifié.

Repères aligner sur d’aligne-
ment de l’arbre à cames la sur-
face de la culasse.
Non alignés → Régler.
5. Monter:
Vis d’accès du repère de distri-
bution 1
Vis d’accès de l’extrémité de
vilebrequin 2
Con l’asta completamente svitata
ed il tenditore con il riferimento
UP (alto) a rivolto verso l’alto,
inserire la guarnizione 1 ed il ten-
ditore della catena di distribuzione
2 e serrare il bullone 3 fino alla
coppia di serraggio specificata.

che l’asta del tenditore fuoriesca e
serrare la guarnizione 4 e il tappo
filettato 5 fino alla coppia di ser-
raggio specificata.

3. Ruotare:
Albero motore
In senso antiorario di diversi giri.
4. Controllare:
Riferimento PMS rotore
Allineare al riferimento del car-
ter.
Albero a camme con riferimenti
Allineare la superficie della
testata del cilindro.
Fuori allineamento → Regolare.
5. Installare:
Vite di accesso al riferimento
per fasatura 1
Vite di accesso estremità albero
