PREPARATION FOR REMOVAL AND DIS
ASSEMBLY
1. Remove all dirt, mud, dust, and foreign
material before removal and disassembly.
When washing the machine with high pres-
sured water, cover the parts as follows.
9Silencer end
9Air filter intake slit
9Water pump housing hole at the bottom
2. Use proper tools and cleaning equipment.
Refer to “SPECIAL TOOLS” section.
3. When disassembling the machine, keep
mated parts together. They include gears,
cylinders, pistons, and other mated parts
that have been “mated” through normal
wear. Mated parts must be reused as an
assembly or replaced.
4. During the machine disassembly, clean all
parts and place them in trays in the order of
disassembly. This will speed up assembly
time and help assure that all parts are cor-
rectly reinstalled.
5. Keep away from fire.

PREPARAZIONE PER LA RIMO-
ZIONE E LO SMONTAGGIO
1. Togliere tutto lo sporco, il fango,
la polvere e il materiale estraneo
prima della rimozione e dello
smontaggio.
Quando si pulisce il veicolo con
acqua ad alta pressione, coprirne le
parti seguenti.
9Estremità della marmitta di sca-
rico
9Bocchetta del filtro dell’aria
9Apertura dell’alloggiamento
della pompa dell’acqua dal lato
inferiore
4. Lors du démontage de la machine,
nettoyer toutes les pièces et les
mettre dans des plateaux dans
l’ordre du démontage. Ceci dimi-
nuera le temps de remontage et
permettra d’être sûr que toutes les
pièces sont correctement remon-
tées.
5. Tenir éloigné du feu.
4. Während der Demontage der
Maschine sind alle Teile zu reini-
gen und in der Reihenfolge der
Demontage in Ablagen abzule-
gen, um die Montage zu
beschleunigen und richtigen Ein-
bau aller Teile sicherzustellen.
5. Offene Flammen und Funken
entfernt halten.4. Durante lo smontaggio del veico-
lo, pulire tutte le parti e collocarle
in vassoi nell’ordine in cui vengo-
no smontate. Questo sveltirà i
tempi di montaggio e contribuirà
ad assicurare che tutte le parti ven-
gano reinstallate correttamente.
5. Stare lontani dal fuoco. 3. Lors du démontage de la machine,
garder les pièces connexes
ensemble. Ils comprennent les
engrenages, cylindres, pistons et
autres pièces connexes qui se sont
“accouplées” par usure normale.
Les pièces connexes doivent être
réutilisées en un ensemble ou
changées.
3. Wenn die Maschine demontiert
wird, zusammengehörende Teile
gemeinsam ablegen. Sie umfas-
sen Zahnräder, Zylinder und Kol-
ben bzw. ähnliche zusammen-
gehörende Teile, die durch
gegenseitigen Kontakt einge-
schliffen wurden. Zusammen-
gehörige Teile müssen immer
gemeinsam wieder verwendet
oder erneuert werden.3. Quando si smonta il veicolo, tene-
re insieme le parti accoppiate.
Queste comprendono ingranaggi,
cilindri, pistoni e altre parti accop-
piate che sono state “accoppiate”
dalla normale usura. Le parti
accoppiate devono essere riutiliz-
zate come gruppo oppure sostitui-
te. 2. Utiliser les outils et le matériel de
nettoyage correct.
Se reporter à la section “OUTILS
SPECIAUX”.
2. Geeignete Werkzeuge und Reini-
gungseinrichtungen verwenden.
Siehe Abschnitt „SPEZIAL-

INFO
EC156000
FRONT BRAKE LEVER
The front brake lever 1is located on the right
handlebar. Pull it toward the handlebar to acti-
vate the front brake.
EC157000
REAR BRAKE PEDAL
The rear brake pedal 1is located on the right
side of the machine. Press down on the brake
pedal to activate the rear brake.
EC158001
FUEL COCK
The fuel cock supplies fuel from the tank to car-
buretor while filtering the fuel. The fuel cock has
the two positions:
OFF: With the lever in this position, fuel will not
flow. Always return the lever to this posi-
tion when the engine is not running.
ON: With the lever in this position, fuel flows to
the carburetor. Normal riding is done with
the lever in this position.
EC159000
STARTER KNOB (CHOKE)
When cold, the engine requires a richer air-fuel
mixture for starting. A separate starter circuit,
which is controlled by the starter knob 1, sup-
plies this mixture. Pull the starter knob out to
open the circuit for starting. When the engine
has warmed up, push it in to close the circuit.

AIR FILTER CLEANING
NOTE:
Proper air filter maintenance is the biggest key
to preventing premature engine wear and dam-
age.
cC
Never run the engine without the air filter
element in place; this would allow dirt and
dust to enter the engine and cause rapid
wear and possible engine damage.
1. Remove:
9Seat
9Fitting bolt 1
9Washer 2
9Air filter element 3
9Filter guide 4
2. Clean:
9Air filter element
Clean them with solvent.
NOTE:
After cleaning, remove the remaining solvent by
squeezing the element.
cC
Do not twist the element when squeezing
the element.

Un entretien convenable du filtre à air
est la clé pour éviter l’usure prématurée
et l’endommagement du moteur.
fF
Ne faites jamais tourner le moteur
sans que le filtre à air soit en place;
ceci permettrait l’introduction de

son usure rapide, et même des dom-
mages.

ANMERKUNG:
Richtige Wartung des Luftfilters ist der
wichtigste Punkt, un frühzeitigen Ver-
schleiß und Schaden am Motor zu
vermeiden.
dD
Niemals den Motor bei ausgebau-
tem Luftfilter laufen lassen; anson-
sten würden nämlich Staub und
Schmutz in den Motor eindringen
und schnellen Verschleiß sowie
möglichen Motorschaden verursa-
chen.

NOTA:
Una corretta manutenzione del filtro
dell’aria è la chiave più importante per
prevenire usura prematura e danni al

iI
Non fare mai girare il motore senza
