ENGCYLINDER AND PISTON
2. Position:
Top ring

Oil ring
Offset the piston ring end gaps as
shown.

3. Install:
Piston 1
Piston pin 2
Piston pin clips 3
NOTE:
Apply engine oil onto the piston pin and pis-
ton.
Be sure that the arrow mark a on the piston
points to the exhaust side of the engine.
Before installing the piston pin clip, cover the
crankcase with a clean rag to prevent the
piston pin clip from falling into the crankcase.
Install the piston pin clips with their ends fac-
ing downward.
4. Lubricate:
Piston
Piston rings
Cylinder
NOTE:
Apply a liberal coating of engine oil.
Cylinder
1. Install:
Dowel pins
O-ring
Gasket 1
Cylinder 2
NOTE:
Install the cylinder with one hand while com-
pressing the piston rings with the other hand.
CAUTION:
Pass the timing chain 3 through the tim-
ing chain cavity.
Be careful not to damage the timing chain
guide 4 during installation.
2. Install:

Reibscheibenstärke
Unvorschriftsmäßig → Die Reibschei-
ben im Satz erneuern.
Die Reibscheiben an vier Stellen mes-
sen.
Kupplungsscheiben
1. Messen:
Verzug der Kupplungsscheiben
Unvorschriftsmäßig → Kupplungsschei-
ben im Satz erneuern.
Eine Richtplatte 1 und eine Fühlerleh-
re 2 verwenden.
Reibscheibenstärke:
2,92–3,08 mm (0,115–0,121 in)
2,8 mm (0,110 in)
Verzugsgrenze:
0,1 mm (0,004 in)
Druckhebel
1. Kontrollieren:
Druckhebel 1
Verschleiß/Beschädigung → Erneuern.
Druckstangen
1. Kontrollieren:
Druckstange 1 1
Lager 2
Beilagscheibe 3
Druckstange 2 4
Kugel 5
Verschleiß/Beschädigung/Verbiegung
→ Erneuern. Disque de friction
1. Mesurer:
Epaisseur de disque de friction
Hors-spécification → Changer tous les dis-

Mesurer chaque disque en quatre endroits.
Disque d’embrayage
1. Mesurer:
Voile de disque d’embrayage
Hors-spécification → Changer tous les dis-
ques d’embrayage.
Utiliser une plaque à surfacer 1 et une
jauge d’épaisseur 2.
Epaisseur de disque de friction:
2,92 à 3,08 mm (0,115 à 0,121 in)
: 2,8 mm (0,110 in)
Limite de déformation:
0,1 mm (0,004 in)
Levier de poussée
1. Contrôler:
Levier de poussée 1
Usure/endommagement → Changer.
Tige de poussée
1. Contrôler:

Roulement 2

Install the clutch plates and friction plates
alternately on the clutch boss, starting with a
friction plate and ending with a friction plate.

Apply the engine oil on the friction plates and
clutch plates.

1. Remove:

NOTE:
Hold the impeller shaft on its width across the
flats a with spanners, etc. and remove the
impeller.

NOTE:
It is not necessary to disassemble the water
pump, unless there is an abnormality such as
excessive change in coolant level, discolora-
tion of coolant, or milky transmission oil.
1. Remove:

Bend/wear/damage → Replace.
Fur deposits → Clean.

Install the oil seal with its manufacture’s
marks or numbers facing inward.

Install the bearing by pressing its outer race
parallel.

Impeller shaft
1. Install:
Impeller shaft 1
Plain washer 2
Impeller 3
NOTE:
Take care so that the oil seal lip is not dam-
aged or the spring does not slip off its posi-
tion.
When installing the impeller shaft, apply the
engine oil on the oil seal lip, bearing and
impeller shaft. And install the shaft while
turning it.
Hold the impeller shaft on its width across
the flats a with spanners, etc. and install the
impeller.

Crankcase cover (right)

Crankcase cover (right) 1

NOTE:
Apply the engine oil on the impeller shaft
end.
When installing the crankcase cover onto the
crankcase, be sure that the impeller shaft
end 2 aligns with the balancer end slot 3.
Tighten the bolts in stage, using a crisscross
pattern.
