1. Measure:
lFriction plate thickness
Out of limit ® Replace friction plate as a
set.
Measure at all four points.

lClutch plate warpage
Out of limit ® Replace clutch plate as a
set.
Use a surface plate 1 and thickness
gauge 2.
Friction plate thickness:
2.9 ~ 3.1 mm
(0.114 ~ 0.122 in)
Warp limit:
0.1 mm (0.004 in)

Push lever shaft
1. Install:
lPush lever shaft 1
NOTE:
lApply the lithium soap base grease on the oil
seal lip and push lever shaft end.
lApply the transmission oil on the push lever

Clutch
1. Install:
lWasher [thickness 2 mm (0.08 in)] 1
lSpacer 2
lPrimary driven gear 3
NOTE:
Apply the transmission oil on the washer,
spacer and primary driven gear inner circum-
ference.
2. Install:
lWasher [thickness 4 mm (0.16 in)] 1
lClutch boss 2

lConical washer 1
NOTE:
Install the conical washer to the main axle 2
as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
lInstall the clutch plates and friction plates
alternately on the clutch boss, starting with a
friction plate and ending with a friction plate.
lUse the friction plates 1 for the first and final
while paying attention to the difference in
surface pattern.
lApply the transmission oil on the friction
plates and clutch plates.

Align the punch mark a on the pressure plate
with the punch mark b on the clutch boss.

Tighten the bolts (clutch spring) in stage, using
a crisscross pattern.

3 Nut (primary drive gear) 1 Only loosening.

lTemporarily tighten the nut at this point.
lInstall the conical washer to the crankshaft

Preparation for removal Hold the machine by placing the
suitable stand under the frame.
WARNING
Support the machine securely so there is no
danger of it falling over.
Drain the coolant. Refer to “COOLANT REPLACEMENT”
section in the CHAPTER 3.
Seat and fuel tank Refer to “SEAT, FUEL TANK AND SIDE
COVERS” section.
Carburetor Refer to “CARBURETOR AND REED
VALVE” section.
Exhaust pipe and silencer Refer to “EXHAUST PIPE AND
SILENCER” section.
Clutch cable Disconnect at engine side.
Radiator hose 1 Disconnect at cylinder head side.
Radiator hose 2 Disconnect at water pump side.
Spark plug cap
Disconnect the CDI magneto
lead.

should be installed according to the dimen-
sions shown.

Apply the lithium soap base grease on the
clutch cable end.

9. Adjust:
lClutch lever free play
Refer to “CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT” section
in the CHAPTER 3.
10. Clamp the clamp portion a of the number
plate to the handlebar.
11. Insert the end of the fuel tank breather
hose 1 into the hole of the steering stem.
