When not using the LATCH system,
all child seats must be secured to the
vehicle with the lap part of a lap/
shoulder belt.
With the child seat in the desired
seating position, route the belt
th rough the child seat according
to the seat maker’s instructions,
then insert the latch plate into the
buckl e. To
activate the lockable retractor,
slowly pull the shoulder part of the
belt all the way out until it stops,
th en let the belt feed back into the
retractor.
After the belt has retracted, tug on
it. If the belt is locked, you will not
be able to pull it out. If you can pull
thebeltout,itisnotlocked,and
you will need to repeat these steps.
In
addition, the lap/shoulder belts in
all seating positions except the
driver’s have a lockable retractor
that must be activated to secure a
child seat.
If you intend to install a child seat in
the center seating position of second
row seat, make sure the detachable
seat belt is securely latched (see
page ). 1.

Does the shoulder belt cross
between the child’s neck and arm?
Is the lap part of the belt as low as
possible, touching the child’s
thighs?
Will the child be able to stay
seated like this f or the whole trip?
If you answer yes to all these
questions, the child is ready to wear
the lap/shoulder belt correctly. If
you answer no to any question, the
child needs to ride on a booster seat. A child who has outgrown a f orward- f acing child seat should ride in a
back seat and use a booster seat
until the lap/shoulder belt f its them
properly without the booster.Some states and Canadian provinces
also require children to use a booster
seat until they reach a given age or
weight (e.g., 6 years or 60 lbs). Be
sure to check current laws in the
states or provinces where you intend
to drive.
Booster seats can be high-back or
low-back. Whichever style you select,
make sure the booster seat meets
f ederal saf ety standards and that you
f ollow the booster seat maker’s
instructions.

The controls f or the power
adjustable front seats are on the
outside edge of each seat bottom.
You can adjust the seats with the
ignition switch in any position. Make
all seat adjustments bef ore you start
driving.
Moves the seat forward
and backward.
Raises or lowers the seat.
The passenger seat has the same
adjustments as the driver’s seat but
without any lumbar adjustment. Moves the whole seat up
and f orward, or down
and backward. The front
of the seat also tilts up or
down at the same time.
Adjusts the seat-back
angle f orward or
backward.
Increases or decreases
the lumbar support.

The f ront and the second row outer
head restraints adjust f or height.
The head restraints in the second
row center and third row seating
positions can be positioned in the
f ully lowered or f ully raised position.
You need both hands to adjust the
restraint. Do not attempt to adjust it
while driving. To raise it, pull upward.
To lower the restraint, push the
release button sideways, and push
the restraint down.
Theyaremosteffectivewhenyou
adjust them so the back of the
occupant’s head rests against the
center of the restraint. Your vehicle is equipped with head
restraints in all seating positions to
help protect you and your
passengers f rom whiplash and other
injuries.
To remove one f or cleaning or repair,
push the release button, and lift the
restraint up.
Make sure the head restraint locks
in position when you reinstall it.

When a passenger is seated in the
secondrowcenterorathirdrow
seating position, make sure the
center head restraint is properly
positioned.To change the seat-back angle of the
seats in the second row, pull up on
thehandleontheoutsideof theseat-
back, and push the seat-back.
Overall, the seat-back has six
dif f erent positions. To unlatch the detachable anchor
bef ore f olding the seat-back, insert
the latch plate into the slot on the
side of the anchor buckle and
allow the seat belt to retract. Store
the detachable anchor and seat
belt latch plates in the retractor
housing.
Reverse this procedure to return the
seat to the upright position. Make
sure the seat is locked securely
bef ore driving. Fold the seat-back forward. Pull up the handle on the outside
of the seat-back. Lower the head restraints to their
lowest positions.
The left and right halves can be
f olded separately.

To get into the third row seats, pull
uptheleveronthesideof the
passenger’s side second row seat-
back. The seat-back will tilt f orward,
and then can be slid forward.
After you return the seat-back to the
upright position, push the whole seat
backwards until it latches. Make
sure the seat is f ully latched bef ore
sitting in it.Use the latch plate to release the
seat belt from the detachable
anchor.
Lower the head restraints to their
lowest positions.
To f old the third row seat,
the second row seat-back must be
f olded down or completely up right.
Unlock the seat-back by pulling
the handle. Push the seat-back
forward.
Make sure the outer shoulder belts
are positioned on each hook
whenever the third seat is f olded.

When the seats are returned to the
upright position, these detachable
anchors should be latched back
properly.
The seat belts in the second row
center seat and the third row seats
are equipped with detachable
anchors.
To unlatch the detachable anchor,
insert the latch plate into the slot on
the side of the anchor buckle. Store
the detachable anchor and seat belt
latch plates in the retractor housing.
Reverse
this procedure to return the
seat to the upright position. Make
sure the seat is locked securely
befo re driving. Reconnect the seat
belts to the detach able anchors.
Ma ke sure all items in the cargo area
are secured. Loose items can f ly
f orward and cause injury if you have
to brake hard (See

Using a seat belt with the
detachable anchor unlatched
increases the chance of serious
injury or death in a crash.
Before using the seat belt,
make sure the detachable
anchor is correctly latched.

Pull out the small latch plate and the
latch plate f rom each holding slot in
the ceiling, and pull out the seat belt
to extend it.Pull out the outer shoulder belts
f rom the hook. Both of the third-row
hooks should only be used when the
seat belt is detached.Line up the triangle marks on the
small latch plate and anchor buckle
when reattaching the belt and buckle.
Tug on the seat belt to verify that
the detachable anchor is securely
latched. Make sure the seat belt is
not twisted.

The outer second row seat cushions
and seat-backs are equipped with
seat heaters. Turning the switch on
the driver side warms the outer seat
behind the driver’s seat only. The
passenger side switch warms the
outer seat behind the f ront
passenger seat.
The ignition switch must be in the
ON (II) position to use them. Push
the front of the switch, HI, to rapidly
heat up the seat. After the seat
reaches a comf ortable temperature,
select LO by pushing the back of the
switch. This will keep the seat warm.
Both f ront seats are equipped with
seat heaters. The passenger seat is
only heated in the seat bottom
because of the side airbag of f system.
