This shows how much f uel you have.
It may show slightly more or less
than the actual amount. The needle
returns to the bottom after you turn
of f the ignition.(Odometer/trip meter message)
This shows the temperature of the
engine’s coolant. During normal
operation, the pointer should rise
from the bottom white mark to about
the middle of the gauge. In severe
driving conditions, such as very hot
weather or a long period of uphill
driving, the pointer may rise to near
the upper white mark. If it reaches
the red (Hot) mark, pull safely to the
side of the road. Turn to page f or
instructions and precautions on
checking the engines cooling system. If your f uel cap is loose or missing, a
‘‘CHECK FUEL CAP’’ message
appears as text in the odometer/trip
meter display after you start the
engine. Turn the engine of f and
conf irm the f uel cap is installed. If it
is, loosen the cap, then retighten it
until it clicks at least once. When you
restart the engine, the message
appears again. To clear the message,
press and hold the select/reset knob
until the message is replaced on the
odometer/trip meter display.
If the system still detects a loose or
missing f uel f ill cap, the malf unction
indicator lamp (MIL) comes on.
Turn the engine of f , and check or
retighten the f uel f ill cap until it
clicks at least once. The MIL goes
out af ter 3 days of normal driving
once the cap is tightened or replaced.
If it does not go out, have your
dealer inspect the vehicle. For more

Avoid driving with an extremely low
f uel level. Running out of f uel could
cause the engine to misf ire, damaging
the catalytic converter.

Air conditioning places an extra load
on the engine. Watch the engine
coolant temperature gauge (see page) when using the A/C in heavy
traf f ic or driving up long hills. If it
moves near the red zone, turn of f the
air conditioning until the gauge
reads normally. The main air flow comes out
of the dashboard vents.

the vents in the dashboard and the
f loor vents.

defroster vents at the base of the

or defog, turn the temperature
control dial to maximum. Select , and set the f an speed to

This button controls the source of air
going into the system. When the
indicator in this button is on, the
system is recirculating the interior
air (recirculation mode). When the
indicator is of f , f resh air is brought
in f rom outside the vehicle (f resh air
mode). Push the button to change
between recirculated and f resh air.
Use recirculation mode to heat or
cool the interior more quickly or to
keep out smoke and dust. Leaving
the system in the recirculation mode
with the A/C off can cause the
windows to f og up. Switch to f resh air mode as soon as the interior
reaches a comf ortable temperature
or the outside smoky, dusty
condition clears.
When the dial is set to AUTO, the
system controls the f an speed
automatically. You can manually select the f an
speed by turning the f an speed
control dial. Turning this dial
clockwise increases the f an speed,
which increases air flow.
In AUTO mode, the system controls
the airf low direction automatically
between the dashboard vents and
the f loor vents. Some air will come out of the side
vents in all modes. Use this dial to select the direction of
airf low coming out of the system.

Wait a f ew minutes af ter turning the
engine of f bef ore you check the oil.Remove the dipstick again, and
check the level. It should be
between the upper and lower
marks.Look at the coolant level in the
radiator reserve tank. Make sure it is
between the MAX and MIN lines. If
it is below the MIN line, see
on page f or
inf ormation on adding the proper
coolant.
Wipe the dipstick with a clean
cloth or paper towel.
Insert it all the way back in its tube. Remove the dipstick (orange tab).

Let the engine run f or several
minutes, then check the drain bolt
and oil f ilter f or leaks. Replace the engine oil f ill cap.
Start the engine. The oil pressure
indicator should go of f within 5
seconds. If it does not, turn of f the
engine and check your work.If the coolant level in the reserve
tank is at or below the MIN line, add
coolant to bring it up to the MAX line.
Inspect the cooling system f or leaks.
Turn of f the engine and let it sit
f or several minutes, then check
the oil level on the dipstick. If
necessary, add more oil. Always use Acura Precision Craf ted
Long Lif e Antif reeze/Coolant Type 2.
This coolant is pre-mixed with 50
percent antif reeze and 50 percent
water. Never add straight antif reeze
or plain water.
If Acura antif reeze/coolant is not
available, you may use another
major-brand non-silicate coolant as a
temporaryreplacement.Makesureit
is a high-quality coolant
recommended f or aluminum engines.
Continued use of any non-Acura
coolant can result in corrosion,
causing the cooling system to
malf unction or f ail. Have the cooling
system f lushed and ref illed with
Acura antif reeze/coolant as soon as
possible.

Improper disposal of engine oil can be
harmf ul to the environment. If you
change your own oil, please dispose of
the used oil properly. Put it in a sealed
container, and take it to a recycling
center. Do not discard it in a trash bin
or dump it on the ground.
