PERIODIC CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys,
check and, if necessary, top up the
following:
❒ engine coolant level;
❒ brake fluid;
❒ windscreen washer fluid;
❒ tyre inflation pressure and condition;
❒ operation of lighting system
(headlights, direction indicators, hazard
warning lights, etc.);
❒ operation of windscreen
washing/wiping system and
positioning/wear of wiper blade.
Every 3,000 km check and top up if
required: engine oil level.
IMPORTANT To find out the correct oil
quantity, always check using the dipstick.
Carry out the check with the vehicle
parked on level ground.
DEMANDING USE OF THE CAR
If the vehicle is used mainly under one of
the following conditions:
❒ trailer or caravan towing;
❒ dusty roads;
❒ short repeated distances (less than
7-8 km) and with external temperatures
below zero;
❒ engine often idling or driving long
distances at low speeds or long periods
of inactivity;
❒ you should perform the following
inspections more frequently than shown
in the Scheduled Servicing Plan:
❒ check front disk brake pad conditions
and wear;
❒ check cleanness of locks, bonnet and
boot and lever cleanness and lubrication;
❒ visually inspect condition of: engine,
gearbox, transmission, pipes and hoses
(exhaust - fuel system - brakes) and
rubber elements (gaiters - sleeves -
bushes - etc.);
❒ check battery charge and battery fluid
level (electrolyte);❒ visually inspect conditions of the
accessory drive belts;
❒ check and, if necessary, change engine
oil and replace oil filter;
❒ check air cleaner and replace it, if
required.
Using the car on track should be regarded
as an exception. The car has been
designed and produced for road use.

WINDSCREEN WASHER LIQUID
121) 122)
To check the windscreen washer fluid
level, proceed as follows:
❒ to avoid any interference during the
procedure, lift the windscreen wiper
blade according to the “Windscreen
wiper” paragraph in the “Servicing and
care” chapter;
❒ undo the 4 self-tapping screws
1 fig. 90 using the supplied screwdriver,
the remove the bonnet grille;
❒ release the plug from the opening;
❒ leaving the plug close to the opening,
put a finger on the central hole 2 fig. 91 in
the plug and remove it: the level can be
seen on the control pipe 3 fig. 92 by
capillarity;
90A0L0130
❒ after the check, reinsert the plug 2
with the control pipe 3 in the initial
position;
❒ put the bonnet grille back and fasten
the 4 self-tapping screws 1 again.
WARNING Re-close the plug holding it
horizontally (not directed towards the
bonnet) to prevent the opening tang from
remaining locked in a position difficult to
reach.
It is recommended to check the
windscreen washer fluid regularly, in
particular in driving conditions needing a
heavier use of the windscreen washer.
91A0L0131
If the level is not sufficient, namely if
there is no fluid inside the pipe, proceed
as follows:
❒ to avoid any interference during the
procedure, lift the windscreen wiper
blade according to the “Windscreen
wiper” paragraph in this chapter;
❒ undo the 4 self-tapping screws
1 fig. 90 using the supplied screwdriver.

Lifting blade
If it is necessary to lift the blade from the
windscreen (e.g. in the event of snow or if
the blade needs replacement) proceed as
follows:
❒ by turning the ring nut 1 fig. 96 to
;
❒ turn the ignition key to MAR and then
to STOP;
❒ after turning the ignition key to STOP,
within 2 minutes move the right stalk
upwards, into unstable (“anti-panic”)
position, for at least half a second. The
windscreen wiper then executes part of a
stroke; at each command, approximately
1/3 of a normal wiper stroke is triggered.
❒ the previous operation can be
repeated up to 3 times, in order to move
the blade to the most suitable position;
❒ lift the blade from the windscreen and
proceed with the required operation;
96A0L0021
❒ lower the blade, bringing it into
contact with the windscreen;
❒ bring the blade to the initial rest
position, turning the ignition key to MAR.
20)
Replacing the front windscreen wiper
blade
Proceed as follows:
❒ lift the windscreen wiper blade,
following the instructions given
preciously;
❒ press tab 1 fig. 97 of the attachment
spring and remove the blade from the
arm;
❒ fit the new blade, inserting the tab in
the dedicated housing in the arm and
checking that it is locked;
AIR FILTER
For cleaner replacement, contact a
dedicated Alfa Romeo Dealership.
WINDSCREEN WIPER
It is advisable to replace the blade about
once a year.
125)
A few simple precautions can reduce the
possibility of damage to the blade:
❒ if the temperature falls below zero,
make sure that ice has not frozen the
rubber to the glass.
Use an antifreeze product to release it if
required;
❒ remove any snow from the glass;
❒ do not operate the windscreen wiper
on dry glass.
IMPORTANT Do not lift the arm of the
windscreen wiper when it is in its initial
rest position. Refer to the following
instructions to lift the windscreen wiper
blade correctly.

The car is equipped with a soft top
fig. 109 that can be removed manually
and combines ease of use and total
protection against weather agents.
The soft top can be stored in a suitable
container inside the luggage
compartment after having been removed.
To remove the soft top, proceed as
follows:
❒ release the two central locking
devices 1 fig. 110 inside the car by
rotating them by ¼ turn anti-clockwise;

tension the soft top, then move the two
side devices 2 fig. 111 inwards and lift
the soft top end part releasing it from the
retainers;
❒ package the first side of the soft top
rolling it up to the centre line;
❒ proceed in the same way for the other
side of the soft top;
❒ remove the soft top with both sides
rolled and store it in the suitable
container inside the luggage
compartment.
❒ before placing it in the dedicated
container it is necessary to cover the

SCHEDULED SERVICING
During each scheduled servicing
operation and anyway every 12 months,
check operation of the soft top locks.135)Before starting the car make sure
the soft top is correctly locked.
It is recommended not to remove/install
the soft top with people sitting in the car,
as the soft top could fall in the passenger
compartment while it is moved.
Be careful while installing/removing the
soft top to prevent any damage or injury.
Keep children away from the area in which
the soft-top is folding while
installing/removing it.
IMPORTANT
29)Never open the soft top in presence
of snow or ice to prevent damage. Loads
may not be secured on the vehicle roof.
30)Bird droppings and plant resins must
be washed off the soft top immediately
as they can damage its fabric. Never use
high-pressure washing systems. When
using steam washers or high-pressure
water washers, maintain a suitable
distance and do not exceed a maximum
temperature of 60°C.
Damage, alterations and water
infiltration may occur if the distance is
too small and the pressure is too high.
WARNING
If a water jet is used, direct away from the
edges of the fabric and the windscreen
surround: water infiltration can occur.
Never use alcohol, petrol, chemical
products, detergents, stain removers,
wax, solvents and “wash and polish”
products. Rinse immediate to remove
soap to prevent stains and halos.
Repeat the operation if needed.
31) Follow the instructions on the
waterproofing product container for
perfect results. The rubber seals of the
soft top must be washed with water only.
If you notice that this trim is dry or is
sticking, apply talcum powder or products
specifically for rubber trim (silicone
spray).
