R em oving the wip er blade
• Lift the w indshield wiper arm up from the
wi ndshield.
• Press the locking knob

wiper blade. Hold t he wiper blade firm ly.
• Remove the wiper blade in the direction of
the arrow .
Attaching th e wiper blade
• Install the new wipe r blade in the retaine r
on the w iper arm @until you hear it cl ick in­
to place on the wiper arm.
• Place the wiper arm back on the windshie ld .
• Turn the service pos ition
off .
A WARNING
-
For your safety, yo u should replace the
wiper blades once or tw ice a year. See your
authorized Audi dealer for rep lacement
blades.
(D Note
- The windshield wiper blades must on ly
be folded away when in the service posi­
tion! Otherwise, you risk damaging the paint on the hood or the w indshield wip·
er moto r.
- You should not
move your vehicle or
press the w indshield w iper lever when
the wip er arms are folded away from the w
indshield. The windshield wipers wou ld
move back into their original position
and co uld damage the hood and wind­
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper sys­
tem, always loosen blades wh ich are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other solvents on o r near the
w iper blades.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper
arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipe rs by hand.
¢j) Tips
- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto·
matic car washes affect the cleanability
of the windshie ld.
- You can also use the se rvice position, for
example, if you want to protect the
w indshield from icing by using a cover.
- You can not activate the service position
when the hood is open .

Tilt function for the passenger's mirror
To help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. The knob must be in the P position
for this to happen.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by
turning the knob in the desired direction.
When you move out of reverse and into anoth­
er gear, the new mirror position is stored and
assigned to the key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph (15
km/h) or switch the ignition off.
.&_ WARNING
- Curved (i.e. convex) mirror surfaces in­
crease your field of view. Remember that
vehicles or other objects will appear
smaller and farther away than when seen in a flat mirror.
If you use this mirror to
estimate distances of following vehicles
when changing lanes, you could estimate
incorrectly and cause an accident.
(D Note
-If the mirror housing is moved uninten­
tionally (for example, while parking your
vehicle), then you must first fold the mi r­
ror electrically. Do not readjust the mir­
ror housing manually. You could damage
the motor which controls the mirror.
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the exterior mir­
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirrors. Never fold power folding ex­
terior mirrors* by hand. Only fold them in and out using the power controls.

edge of the mirror) to the rear.
Automatically dimming mirrors*
"'To dim the rearview mirror and both exterior
mirrors, press the@button. The diode @
turns on. The rearview and exterior mirrors
dim automatically when light shines on
them, for example from headlights on ave­
hicle to the rear.
&_ WARNING
= Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic
dimming mirrors if the glass is broken.
Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes and
respiratory system.

- Repeated or prolonged exposure to elec­
trolyte can cause irritation to the respira­
tory system, especially among people
with asthma or other respiratory condi­
tions. Get fresh air immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle or, if that is not possible,
open windows and doors all the way.
- If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with large amounts of
clean water for at least 15 minutes·

Adjusting th e armrest
• To ad just the angle, raise the armrest from
the start ing pos ition detent by detent.
• To bring the armrest back into its original
position, lift it above the top position and
then fold it back down .
Opening th e storage compartment
• Press the button -arrow-upward.
Please note that the driver's arm movements
may be restr icted w ith the armrest fo lded
down. Fo r th is reason, the armrest should not
be folded down when driving in city traffic.

Front head restraints

Head restraints that are adjusted according
to body size, along with the seat belt, offer
effective protection.

Adjust the head restraint so the upper edge is
as even as possible with the top of your head.
If that is not possible, try to adjust the head
restraint so that it is as close to this position
as possible. Move the head restraint so th at it
is as close to the back of the head as possib le .

slide it until it locks into place.
• To move the head restraint down or back,

Installing the head restraints
.. Slide the posts on the head restraint down
into the guides until you feel the posts lock
into place .

should not be able to pull the head restraint
out of the backrest.
So that the driver can have a better view to
the rear, the head restraints should be pushed down completely when the rear seats are not
occupied.
A WARNING
- Only remove the rear seat head restraints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat. Install the head restra int again im­
mediately once the child seat is removed.
Driving without head restraints or with
head restraints that are not properly ad­
justed increases the risk of serious or fa­
tal neck injury dramat ica lly.

Seat memory
Description
Applies to veh icles: w ith memory f unction
The memory function allows you to quickly
and easily store and recall personal seating profiles for the driver and front passenger*.
T he memory function is operated through the
master key and the memory buttons in the
driver's/front passenger's* doors.
The driver's seating profile is stored and as­
s ig ned to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked. When you open the door, the seat­
ing profile is automatically recalled. If two
people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own"
master key .
Two seating profiles can be stored in each of
the driver's/front passenger's* doors. Once
stored, these seat ing profiles can be recalled
at any time.

er's/front passenger's* door .
Switching the memory function on/off
> Press the IOF FI button to switch the memory
fu nction on/off. The LED in the button illu­
m inat es when the memory function is
switched off . Seating profiles are neither
stored nor recalled.
Storing a seating profile
> Press the ISET I button . When the word SET
lights up, the memory is ready to store set­
tings.
> Press a memory button briefly. A tone con­
firms that the settings were stored .
Accessing a seating profile
> If the driver's door is open and the ignition
is swi tched off, press the memory button.
> If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
switched on, press and ho ld the memory
button until the seat adjustment is com­
plete.
A WARNING
- For safety reasons, the seat setting
should only be recalled when the vehicle
is stationary- otherw ise you risk having
an accident .
- If necessary, you stop the process by
press ing the
I OF FI button or any of the
memory buttons.

.. Remove the cigarette lighter when it pops
out.
A WARNING
The cigarette lighter only works when the
ignition is switched on . Incorrect usage
can lead to ser ious inju ries or bu rns. For
this reason, children sho uld never be left
unatte nded in the veh icle because this in­
creases the risk of inj ury.

Front cupholder
• To open the cupholder, tap the cover

Rear cupholder*
• To open the rear cupholder, press on the

• To adjust the arm@, swing it in the direc­
t ion of the arrow.
• Place the beverage in the holder and release
the arm. The arm swings back by itself and
automatically secures the beverage.
• To close the rear cup holder, press on the
center section between the two arms and
push the cupholder in the slot as far as it
will go .
& WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehi cle while it is moving . In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
causing sca lding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can a lso cause an accident and personal
injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder . Hard
cups and g lasses can cause injury in an
accident.
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray -risk of fire.
(D Note
On ly drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupho lder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's e lectronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.

Cooled glove compartment

The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is switched on .

cooling on. The symbols on the knob indi­
cate the correct position .
• Turn the knob @clockwise to switch cooling
off.
The glove compartment cooling mode only
functions when the vehicle A/C system is
switched on . If the heating is switched on,
switching the glove compa rtment cooling
mode off is recommended.
& WARNING ~ -
Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
ment cover closed while driving to reduce
the r isk of injury.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle .
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Compartment in the glove compartment
(coo led*) . Th e g love compartment can be
locked using the mechanica l key ¢
page 32.
-Storage compartment for (sun)glasses* in
the roof (near the interio r mirror)
- Storage compartments under the center
armrests
- Storage compartment on the rear side of
the front seat*. The compartment can hold a

• Remove the knobs CD c::> fig. 65 from the ball
mounts.
• Pull the cover @out of the retainers@ in
the direct ion of the arrow .

A WARNING
-To prevent accidents, never install the
luggage compartment cover unsecured.
- The luggage compartment cover is not a
surface for storing objects. Objects
placed on the cover could endanger all
vehicle occupants during sudden braking
maneuvers or in a crash.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
aga inst the rear window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defog­
ger.

- The backrest must be securely latched in
position so that no items contained in
the luggage compartment can s lide for­
ward upon sudden braking.
- Always check whether the latch is fully
engaged by pulling the seatback for­
ward .
- N ever a llow safety belts to become dam­
aged by being caught in door or seat
hardware .
- Torn or frayed safety belts can tear and
damaged be lt hardware can break in a
crash. Inspect the belts periodical ly.

Operation

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or
off. Use the dials to adjust the temperature,
the blower speed and the air distribution. The LED in a button will light up when the func­
tion is switched on. The settings are shown in
the climate control display and are also shown
in the MMI display for a few seconds . The driv­
er and front passenger sett ings can be adjust­
ing separately.
The settings can also be adjusted in the rear
¢fig. 77.
IOFFj Switching the climate control
system on/off
The I O FFI button switches the climate control
system on or off.
It also switches on when you
turn the dia l or press any button. Airflow from outside is blocked when the
climate control
system is switched off .
You can activate the residual heat function
whe n the ignition is off by pressing and hold­
ing the ~ button. The residua l heat from the
coolant is used to heat the vehicle interior.
The resid ual heat function switches off auto­
matically after about 30 minutes.
jA/Cj Switching cooling mode on/off
T he air is not coo led and humidity is not re ­
moved when cooling mode is switched off.
T his can cause fog on the windows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is be low zero.
1- 1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehi ­
cle is circu lated and filtered. This prevents the
unfiltered air outside the vehicle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior. We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when driving
through a tunnel or when sitting in traffic
¢ .&, .
The !AUTO I button or l<ii7 FRONT I button
switches recirculation mode off.
