The short-term memory collects driving informa
tion from the t ime the ignition is sw itched on un
til it is switched off. If you continue driv ing with
i n two hours after switching the ign ition off, the
new values are included when calculating the cur
rent trip information .
Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term
memory is not e rased automat ical ly. Yo u can se
l ect the time period for evaluating trip informa
tion yourself .
Fuel consumption
The current fue l consumption can be shown us
ing a bar g raph ¢
fig. 14. The average cons ump
tion stored in the short-term memory is also dis
p layed .
If the bars are green or the gray tone on
the bars changes (depending on the equipment),
your vehicle is sav ing fuel by the following func
tion :
-Rec upe rati on: electrical energy can be stored in
the vehicle battery when the vehicle is coasting or driving downhill. The bar will move toward
0 /0.

Display content
In the Infotainment system, you can spec ify
which information sho uld be disp layed: For ex
ample, this can include navigation information*,
adaptive cruise contro l* or camera -based tra ffic
s ign recognition *.
The display of ce rtain informa tion and some of
the red indica tor ligh ts cannot be h idden in the
Infotainment system .
Brightness
You can adjust the display br ightness in the Info
ta inme nt sys tem. The display br igh tness dec reas
es autom atically as the amount of lig ht decreas
es . The bac kg round br ightness is adjusted w ith
the instr ument
illumination ¢ page 49.
Picture rotation
You can rotate the picture in the Infotainment
system cloc kwise or counter clockwise .

To prevent sc ra tches on the glass covering the
head-up display, do not p lac e any objects in
the project ion opening.

- Sunglasses with po larization filte rs and un
favor able light ing cond itions can have a
negative effect on the disp lay.
- An opt imum d isp lay depends on the sea t
posit io n and the height ad justment of the
head -up disp lay.
- A spec ial windshie ld is needed for the head

Description
The indicato r lights in the inst rument cluste r
b link or turn on. They ind icate funct ions or mal
f u nctions.
Messages may appear with some indicator l ights .

The indicato r lights a nd messages in the instr u
men t cluster display can be covered by o ther d is
p lays. To show t hem again, select the second tab
with the m ultifunction steering wheel

If th ere are seve ral malfunctions, you can display
them one at a time using the thumbwheel.
Some ind icator lights in the disp lay can display in
several colors .
& Central indicator light
If the. or u indicator light turns on, check
the message in the instrument cluster.
Overview
Some ind icator lights turn on briefly as a function
check whe n you switch the ig nition on . These sys
tems are marked with a

I f o ne of these indicato r lights does not turn on,

Your ve hicle has either a monochrome display or
a mu lticolored display, depend ing o n ve hicle

malfunction in the generator or the vehicle elec

Audi Service Facility for assistance .
(•) Electrical system: malfunction! Restart not
possible. Please contact Service
The vehicle battery was disconnected from the
veh icle elect rical system and will no longer
charge . Drive to an authorized Aud i dealer or au
thorized Audi Service Facility immediately.
Do not stop the engine, or you will not be able to
start it aga in . If you can no longer start the en
g in e, see an authorized Aud i dealer or autho rized
Aud i Service Facility for assistanc e.
(•) F.lectrical system: malfunction! Please con

Drive to an authorized Aud i dea ler or authorized
Aud i Serv ice Facility immediately . Because the ve
h icle battery is d ischarg ing, turn off all unneces
sary electr ical equipment such as the radio. See

sw itched the ESC off. In this case, you can switch
the ign ition off and t hen o n to switch the ESC on
aga in. The indica tor ligh t turns off when the sys
tem is func tioning fully .

Stabilization control (ESC/ ABS): malfun ction!

on and the message appears, there is a malfunc
tion in the ABS or the elect ronic d ifferential lock .
This a lso ca uses the ESC to malfunct ion. The

ABS is no t active.

The lever operates the turn signals, the high

A WARNING
High beams can cause glare for other drivers,
wh ich increases the risk of an accident. For
this reason, only use the high beams or the
headlight flasher when they will not create
glare for other drivers.

High beam assistant
App lies to : vehicles with high beam ass istant
The high beam assistant automatically turns the
high beams on or off depending on the surround
ing conditions .
A camera on the rearview mirror mount can de
tect light sources from other road users. The high
beams switch on or off automatically depending
on the posit ion of vehicles driving ahead and on
coming vehicles, the vehicle speed and other en
vironmen tal and traffic conditions.
Activating high beam assistant
Requirement: the light sw itch must be set to the
AUTO posit ion and the high beam assistant must
be switched on in the Infotainment system
¢page 47 .
• To act ivate the high beam ass istant, tap the
lever

To adjust the brightness of individual zones, se

Depending on vehicle equipment, the instru
ment illumination (needles and gauges) may
turn on when the lights are off and the igni
tion is switched on. The illumination for the
gauges reduces automatically and eventually
turns off as brightness outside increases . This
function reminds the driver to turn the low
beams on at the appropriate time.
Vision
Adjusting exterior mirrors

Turn the knob to the desired position:

Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's exterior
mirror.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by turn- ing the knob in the desired direction. When you

Adjusting the magnetic zone
Applies to: ve hicles with d ig ital compass
The magnetic zone must be adjusted correctly for the compass to read accurately.

correct magnetic zone . The selection mode
turns off after a few seconds.
Calibrating the compass

If the display is incorrect or inaccurate, the com
pass must be recalibrated.
• Press and hold the button @ until a C appears
in the interior rearview mirror .
• Drive in a circle at about 6 mph (10 km/h) until
a direction is displayed in the interior rearview
mirror.
A WARNING
To reduce the risk to yourself and other driv
ers, calibrate the compass in an area where
there is no traffic.
