Central locking system
Description
The vehicle can be locked and unlocked via the
central locking system. You can use any of the
following:
- Remote control key¢ page 28
- Sensors in the door handles* ¢ page 28
- Lock on driver's door ¢ page 30
- Interior central locking switch ¢ page 29
Automatic locking function (Auto Lock)
The Auto Lock function locks the doors and the
boot lid when the vehicle exceeds a speed of
about 15 km/h.
The vehicle is unlocked again immediately when
the unlock button in the central locking switch is
pressed or one of the inside door handles is
pulled. The Auto Lock function can be switched
on and off on the infotainment system
¢page 30.
In the event of an accident in which the airbags
inflate, the doors will be automatically unlocked
to facilitate access and assistance.
Unlocking one side of the vehicle only
When you lock the vehicle, the central locking
system will lock the doors and the boot lid. When
you unlock the vehicle, the central locking system
will unlock either the driver's door only, or all the
locks on the vehicle, depending on the setting
you have selected on the infotainment system
¢page 30.
Turn signals
The turn signals will flash twice when the vehicle
is unlocked and once when the vehicle is locked.
If the turn signals do not flash, one of the doors,
the boot lid or the bonnet is still open or the igni­
tion is still on.
Accidental lock-out
The central locking system prevents you from be­
ing locked out of the vehicle in the following sit­
uations: Doors
and windows
- When the driver's door is open, you cannot lock
the vehicle by pressing the� button on the re­
mote control key or touching the locking sen­
sor* on one of the doors.
- When one of the doors is open, it cannot be
locked together with the other doors by press­
ing the� button in the central locking switch
and then closing the door ¢ page 29.
- On vehicles with convenience key*, the boot lid
will be released again automatically if the key
that was last in use is left inside the boot when
the boot lid is closed. The hazard warning lights
will flash four times.
To prevent yourself from being locked out, do not
lock the vehicle with the remote control key/con­
venience key* until all of the doors and the boot
lid are closed.
(D Note
- Never leave any valuable items in the vehi­
cle unattended. Even a locked vehicle is not
a safe.
- When you lock the vehicle, the LED on the
driver's window sill flashes. If the LED is still
on about 30 seconds after the vehicle is
locked, the central locking system is not
working properly. You should have the mal­
function repaired by a qualified workshop.

check regularly that the emergency key is still
present in the remote control key casing.
@ Spare key
This key is intended for temporary use only and
should be used only in an emergency. Keep it in a
safe place and do not carry it on the keyring.
Replacing a key
If you should lose a key, please contact an Audi
dealer. Have the remote control coding for that
key deactivated. For this purpose you should
bring all available keys with you. It is also impor­
tant to notify your insurance company if a key has
been lost.
Number of keys
You can check how many keys are initialised for
your vehicle using the infotainment system. Se­
lect the following on the infotainment system:
I MENU I
button >Car> left control button > Serv­
icing & checks > Initialised keys. This feature en­
ables used car buyers to make sure they have re­
ceived all of the keys.
Electronic immobiliser
The immobiliser is designed to prevent unauthor­
ised persons from driving the vehicle.
It may not be possible to start the engine with
the key if there is another ignition key from a dif­
ferent make of vehicle on the same key ring.
Data stored on remote control key
Data related to the service and maintenance of
the vehicle are stored continuously on your re­
mote control key while you are driving. Your Audi
dealer can read out the data and will then be able
to tell you what service work is required. This also
applies to vehicles with convenience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use the same car regularly, it is a
good idea for each person to have his or her
"own" remote control key. When you switch off
the ignition or lock the vehicle, your personal set­
tings for the following convenience features are
stored and assigned to the remote control key:
- Air conditioner

- Background lighting*
- Parking aid*
- Active lane assist*
- Side assist*
- Drive select
The stored settings are then recalled automati­
cally the next time the vehicle is unlocked, the
doors are opened or the ignition is switched on.
_& WARNING
Always take the key with you when leaving the
vehicle -even if you only intend to be gone for
a short time. This is especially important if
children are left in the car. They might other­
wise be able to start the engine or use power­
operated equipment such as the electric win­
dows -this could lead to injuries.
The function of the remote control key may be
impaired by interference from other nearby
radio signals (for example from a mobile tele­
phone or TV transmitter) if these are in the
same frequency range.

The LED® lights up when you press the buttons .

of the buttons briefly.

open/close).

mote control key is flat. In addition, the indica­
tor lamp r= will light up and the message Re­
mote control key: please change key battery
will appear. Replace the battery.

The vehicle will be locked again automatically if
you do not open one of the doors, the boot lid or
the bonnet within 45 seconds after unlocking the
car. This function prevents the vehicle from re­
maining unlocked if the unlock button is pressed
by mistake.
The system will unlock either all the doors or only
the driver&#39;s door, depending on the settings you
have chosen on the infotainment system

& WARNING
On vehicles with an anti-theft alarm system*,
do not leave anyone (especially children) in
the car if it is locked from the outside and the

ting lives at risk.

- Do not use the remote control key when the
vehicle is out of sight.
- On vehicles with the convenience key* the
selector lever must be in P, otherwise it will
not be possible to lock the vehicle.
Locking and unlocking the vehicle with the
conv enience key
Applies to vehicles: with convenience key
The doors and the boot lid can be locked and un­
locked without handling the remote control key.

.. Move the selector lever to position P (automatic

The vehicle can be locked and unlocked from any
of the doors. The remote control key should be
within a range of about 1.5 metres from the door
handle. It does not matter where you carry the .,..

in the central locking switch.
Adjusting the settings for the central
locking system
You can use the infotainment system to select
which doors are unlocked by the central Locking
system
.. Select the following on the infotainment sys­
tem: JMENUJ button> Car > left control button
> Vehicle settings.
Unlock doors -You can select whether all doors
or only the driver&#39;s door are unlocked by the cen­
tral locking system. The boot lid will also be un­
locked if you select all. If you select driver on
vehicles with convenience key*, only one door will
be unlocked (whichever door you grip by the han­
dle).
When the driver setting is activated, you can still
unlock all the doors and the boot lid by pressing
the � button on the remote control key twice.
Fold mirrors* -If you select on, the exterior mir­
rors will be folded in automatically when you
press the [fil] button on the remote control key or
touch the sensor* on the door handle.
Lock when driving 1
) - Select on if you want the
vehicle to be locked automatically when you are
driving. This will lock all the doors and the boot
lid.
Confirmation tone1

- If you select on, an acous­
tic signal will be given when you lock the vehicle.

If the central locking system should fail to work ,
the doors have to be locked/unlocked separately
using the emergency key or the spare key.

A mechanical locking device (only visible when
the door is open) is provided on the passenger&#39;s
door.

Once the passenger&#39;s door has been closed it can
no longer be opened from the outside. The door
can be opened from the inside by pulling the
door handle.
A WARNING
On vehicles with an anti-theft alarm system*,
do not Leave anyone (especially children) in
the car if it is locked from the outside and the
safelock mechanism* is activated: the doors
and windows cannot then be opened from the
inside ¢page 31. Locked doors could delay
assistance in an emergency, potentially put­
ting lives at risk.
Anti-theft alarm system
Applies to vehicles: with anti-theft alarm system

If the anti-theft alarm system senses interfer­
ence with the vehicle it triggers an audible and
visible alarm. The anti-theft alarm system is acti­
vated when you lock the vehicle in the usual way
and is switched off again when you unlock the ve­
hicle.
The anti-theft alarm system comprises the fol­
lowing components:
Anti-theft alarm
The alarm is triggered if the bonnet, the boot lid
or any of the doors are forced open. The alarm
system is armed whenever the vehicle is locked.

This function is not available on all export versions/equip­
ment versions. Doors

If you unlock the vehicle by turning the key in the
driver&#39;s door lock, you should switch on the igni­
tion within 15 seconds to prevent the alarm from
being triggered. On some export versions, the
alarm is triggered immediately when you open a
door.
To deactivate the alarm, switch on the ignition or
press the@J button on the remote control key.
Interior monitor and tow-away protection
When the vehicle is locked, the alarm will be trig­
gered if movements are detected in the interior
(e.g. by animals) or if the vehicle&#39;s inclination is
changed (e.g. during transport). You can prevent
the alarm from being triggered accidentally by
switching off the interior monitor and/or tow­
away protection. To do so, proceed as follows:
� Press the� button ¢ Fig. 27. The LED in the
button will light up.
� If you now lock the vehicle, the interior monitor
and tow-away protection will remain deactiva­
ted until the vehicle is unlocked again.
Safelock 1
)
The doors can no longer be opened from the in­
side. This makes it more difficult to break into
the vehicle ¢ ,A. The message Be aware of door
safelock. See owner&#39;s manual appears on the in­
fotainment display when you switch off the igni­
tion as a reminder that the safe lock mechanism*
will be activated. You can switch off the safelock
mechanism* by using one of the following op­
tions:
� Press the� button on the remote control key a
second time within 2 seconds. Or:
� Touch the sensor on the door handle a second
time within 2 seconds (applies to vehicles with
convenience key). Or:
� Turn the emergency key in the door lock to the
lock position a second time within 2 seconds.

The alarm is triggered if you switch off the safe­
lock mechanism* and a door handle is then oper­
ated. To deactivate the alarm, switch on the igni­
tion or press the @J button on the remote control
key.

CD CAUTION
If you switch off the safe lock mechanism*,
the interior monitor and tow-away protection
are automatically disabled, and vice versa.
This means that your vehicle is no longer
completely protected against theft.

The interior monitor and tow-away protection
will only function as intended if the windows
are closed.

- Always pay attention to passengers in the
rear seat when closing the boot lid -risk of
injury!
- After closing the boot lid, always check that
the catch has engaged properly. The boot lid
could otherwise open suddenly when the ve­
hicle is moving -this could result in an acci­
dent.
- The boot lid must always be completely
closed when the vehicle is moving; other­
wise toxic exhaust fumes can be drawn into
the interior.
{(D Note
When the vehicle is locked, you can unlock the
boot lid separately by pressing the c::5 button
on the remote control key. The boot lid will
lock automatically when you close it again.

Convenience open/close function
The windows can be opened or closed simultane­
ously when the vehicle is unlocked or Locked.
Convenience open function
... Press and hold the� button on the remote
control key until all the windows have reached
the desired position, or
... First unlock the vehicle using the� button on
the remote control key, then insert the key in
the driver&#39;s door lock, turn it to the &#34;unlock&#34; po­
sition and hold it there until all the windows
have reached the desired position.
Convenience close function
... Press and hold the locking button l&#39;.D on the re­
mote control key until all windows are closed

... Lock the driver&#39;s door with the key and hold the
key in the &#34;lock&#34; position until all the windows
are closed
Convenience close function with convenience
key*
... Touch and keep your hand in contact with the
sensor* on the door handle until all the win­
dows are closed. Do not rest your hand on the
door handle while this is happening.
Adjusting settings for convenience open
function via infotainment system
... Select the following on the infotainment sys­
tem: l MEN u
I button > Car > left control button
> Vehicle settings.
If you wish to use the convenience open function
for the windows, select on for Front windows.
A WARNING
- Take care when closing the windows. Care­
less use of the windows can cause injuries.
- For safety reasons, you should only use the
remote control open and close functions
within about 2 metres of the vehicle. To
avoid injuries, always keep an eye on the
windows when pressing the !filJ button to
close them. The windows and soft top stop
moving as soon as the !filJ button is released.

to do after a malfunction
The one-touch open and close function must be
reactivated if the battery has been disconnected.
... Pull and hold the electric window switch until
the window is fully closed .
... Release the switch and then pull it again for at
least one second.
Garage door opener
(Homelink)
Description
Applies to vehicles: with garage door opener (Homelink)

Th e garage door opener (Homelink) allows you
to activate garage doors, security systems, home
or office lighting and other electric devices by
means of control buttons inside your car. It com­
prises three buttons integrated in the headliner
which perform the functions of up to three hand­
held transmitters.
To operate the desired systems with the garage
door opener, you first need to program the but­
tons in the headliner.
A WARNING
When you are operating or programming the
garage door opener, make sure that no per­
sons or objects are close to the devices receiv­
ing the transmitter signals. Otherwise, per­
sons might be injured or other damage
caused by moving parts.

The brightness of the Lighting in the instrument
cluster and the centre console can be adjusted as
required.

.,. Tu rn the knob towards &#34;-&#34; or&#34;+&#34; to reduce or in­
crease the brightness of the lighting.
.,. Briefly press the knob again to engage it.

Turn the knob to the appropriate position:
Q/P -In these positions you can adjust the ex­
terior mirrors (Left or right) by moving the knob
in the desired direction.
(fill - The mirrors are heated* (depending on the
outside temperature and road speed). Lights
and vision
8 - The exterior mirrors are retracted*. One of
the infotainment settings allows you to control
whether or not the mirrors are folded in when
you Lock the vehicle q page 30.
Tilt function for front passenger&#39;s exterior
mirror*
The mirror is tilted slightly to provide a better
view of the kerb when parking backwards. This
feature is operational when the knob is in posi­
tion P.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by mov­
ing the knob in the desired direction. This new
position is automatically stored and assigned to
the remote control key when you take the car out
of reverse.
The mirror returns to its original position as soon
as you drive forwards at over 15 km/h or switch
off the ignition.
A WARNING
Convex or wide-angle* exterior mirrors give a
Larger field of vision. However, they make ob­
jects Look smaller and further away than they
really are. If you use these mirrors to esti­
mate the distance to vehicles behind you
when changing Lane, you could misjudge the
distance. Risk of accident!
CD CAUTION
If one of the mirror housings is knocked out
of position (e.g. when parking), the mirrors
must first be fully retracted with the electric
control. Do not readjust the mirror housing by
hand, as this will interfere with the mirror ad­
juster function.
{CD) Note
If the electrical adjustment should fail to op­
erate, both of the mirrors can be adjusted by
hand by Lightly pressing the edge of the mir­
ror glass.
