Detectionofobjects Very low obstacles as well as high, protruding
objects such as ledges may not be detected by the system.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, some asj
sistance functions also consider data from the PDC Park Distance Control.
Follow the notes in the PDC Park Distance Conj
trol chapter.
The objects displayed on the Control Display may be closer than they appear. Do not estimate
the distance from the objects on the display.
SideView
Concept
Side View provides an early look at cross traffic
at blind driveways and intersections. Road users
concealed by obstacles to the left and right of the vehicle can only be detected relatively late
from the driver's seat. To improve visibility, two
cameras in the front of the vehicle record the
traffic situation on each side. The images from
both cameras are shown simultaneously on the
Control Display.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
The system cannot serve as a substitute for the driverss personal judgment in assessing the
traffic situation. There is a risk of an accident.
Adjust driving style to traffic conditions. Watch
traffic and vehicle surroundings closely and acj tively intervene where appropriate.

Parkingassistant
Concept
The system supports parking in the following sitjuations:
'xWhen parking parallel to the road, parallel
parking.'xWhen reverse parking diagonally to the road, diagonal parking. The system orients itselfwith the middle of the parking space duringdiagonal parking.
Generalinformation
Parking assistant handling is divided into three
steps:
'xSwitching on and activating.'xParking space search.'xParking.
Ultrasound sensors measure parking spaces on
both sides of the vehicle.
The parking assistant calculates the best possij
ble parking line and takes control of steering durj ing the parking procedure.
System status and instructions on required acj
tions are displayed on the Control Display.
The parking assistant uses the sensors of PDC
Park Distance Control.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
The system cannot serve as a substitute for the
driverss personal judgment in assessing the
traffic situation. Based on the limits of the sysj tem, it cannot independently react to all trafficsituations. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust
driving style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic
closely and actively intervene where approprij
ate.
NOTICE
The parking assistant can steer the vehicle over
or onto curbs. There is a risk of damage to property. Watch traffic closely and actively inj
tervene where appropriate.
Also follow the safety information for PDC Park
Distance Control.

ClimatecontrolVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country-spejcific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarilyavailable in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selectedoptions or country versions. This also applies to
safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved by
an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a
climate-control system for regulating temperaj
ture, air flow, and recirculated-air mode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for instance
microfilter/activated-charcoal filter, automatic clij
mate control with automatic recirculated-air conj
trol AUC, and parked-car ventilation.Automaticclimatecontrol
