The coolant level is indicted using minimum andmaximum markings. Depending on the coolant

reservoir is located on the right side or the left

ConditionBasedServiceCBS
Concept
Sensors and special algorithms take into account the driving conditions of the vehicle. CBS uses
these to calculate the need for maintenance.
The system makes it possible to adapt the
amount of maintenance corresponding to your
user profile.

page 130, can be displayed on the Control Disj
play.
Servicedataintheremote
control
Information on the required maintenance is conjtinuously stored in the remote control. The dealjerss service center can read this data out and
suggest a maintenance scope for the vehicle.
Therefore, hand the service advisor the remote
control with which the vehicle was driven most recently.
Storageperiods Storage periods during which the vehicle battery
was disconnected are not taken into account.
If this occurs, have a dealer's service center or
another qualified service center or repair shop update the time-dependent maintenance procejdures, such as checking brake fluid and, if necesj
sary, changing the engine oil and the microfilter/ activated-charcoal filter.

the alarm system when the vehicle is locked. Rej move any devices connected at the OBD socket

The socket for Onboard Diagnosis is an intrij
cate component intended to be used in conj
junction with specialized equipment to check
the vehicless primary emissions system. Imj
proper use of the socket for Onboard Diagnoj
sis, or contact with the socket for Onboard Dij
agnosis for other than its intended purpose,
can cause vehicle malfunctions and creates
risks of personal and property damage. Given
the foregoing, the manufacture of your vehicle
strongly recommends that access to the socket
for Onboard Diagnosis be limited to a dealer's

ter or repair shop or other persons that have
the specialized training and equipment for purj
poses of properly utilizing the socket for Onj

There is an OBD socket on the driver's side for checking the primary components in the vehij
cle's emissions.

Wiperblades
Safetyinformation
NOTE
The window may sustain damage if the wiper
falls onto it without the wiper blade installed. There is a risk of damage to property. Hold thewiper firmly when changing the wiper blade. Do
not fold or switch on the wiper without a wiperblade installed.
NOTE
Folded-away wipers can be jammed when the
hood is opened. There is a risk of damage to property. Make sure that the wipers with thewiper blades mounted are folded down onto
the windshield before opening the hood.
Replacingthefrontwiperblades
1.To change the wiper blades, fold up the wiper
arms, refer to page 113.2.Fold up and hold the wiper arm firmly.3.Squeeze the retainer spring, arrow 1, and fold
up the wiper blade, arrow 2.4.Remove the wiper blade forward from thecatch.5.Insert the new wiper blade in reverse order of

Lightandbulbreplacement

Lightsandbulbs
Lights and bulbs make an essential contribution
to vehicle safety.
All headlights and lights are made using LED technology.
Some items of equipment use light-emitting dij odes installed behind a cover as a light source.These light-emitting diodes are related to conj
ventional lasers and are officially designated as Class 1 light-emitting diodes.
The manufacturer of the vehicle recommends
that you let a dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop performthe work in case of a malfunction.
Follow the safety information, refer to page 277.
Headlightglass
Condensation can form on the inside of the exj
ternal lights in cool or humid weather. When drivj ing with the lights switched on, the condensationevaporates after a short time. The headlightglass does not need to be changed.
If despite driving with the headlights switched on, increasing humidity forms, for instance water
droplets in the light, have the headlights checked.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
Intensive brightness can irritate or damage the
retina of the eye. There is a risk of injury. Do not look directly into the headlights or other lightsources. Do not remove the LED covers.
Vehiclebattery
Maintenance
The battery is maintenance-free.
The added amount of acid is sufficient for the
service life of the battery.
More information about the battery can be rej quested from a dealerss service center or another
qualified service center or repair shop.
Replacingthevehiclebattery
Generalinformation
The manufacturer of your vehicle recommends that you have a dealerss service center or anotherqualified service center or repair shop register
the vehicle battery to the vehicle after the battery
has been replaced. Once the battery has been registered again, all comfort features will be availj
able without restriction and any Check Control
messages displayed which relate to comfort feaj
tures will disappear.

NOTE
Vehicle batteries that are not compatible can damage vehicle systems and impair vehicle functions. There is a risk of personal and propjerty damage. Chargingthebattery

The battery may need to be charged in the folj

Battery chargers for the vehicle battery can
work with high voltages and currents, which
means that the 12 volt on-board network can be overloaded or damaged. There is a risk of
damage to property. Only connect battery
chargers for the vehicle battery to the starting
aid terminals in the engine compartment.
Startingaidterminals
In the vehicle, only charge the battery via the
starting aid terminals, refer to page 282, in the
engine compartment with the engine off.
PowerfailureAfter a power loss, some equipment needs to be
newly initialized or individual settings updated, for
example:
'xSeat and mirror memory: store the positions
again.'xTime: update.'xDate: update.'xGlass sunroof and sun protection: initialize
the system.
Disposingofoldbatteries
Have old batteries disposed of by a dealjerss service center or another qualifiedservice center or repair shop or take
them to a collection point.
Maintain the battery in an upright position for
transport and storage. Secure the battery so that it does not tip over during transport.
Fuses
Generalinformation
The fuses are located in two different places in
the vehicle.
Information on the fuse types and locations, as well as the positions of any other fuse boxes, isfound on a separate sheet in the fuse box in the
cargo area.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
Incorrect and repaired fuses can overload elecj
trical lines and components. There is a risk of
fire. Never attempt to repair a blown fuse. Do not replace a nonworking fuse with a substituteof another color or amperage rating.

Generalinformation On right-hand drive vehicles, the fuses are lojcated on the opposite side of the engine comjpartment.

Removingthecover1.Use the onboard vehicle tool kit to loosen the
three cover screws, arrow 1.2.Pull up the holder, arrow 2.3.Remove the cover from one side, arrow 3.4.Press the four fasteners and remove the cover.
Attachingthecovers
1.When attaching the cover, make sure that all
four fasteners are engaged.2.Attach the cover under the rubber lip and
then thread it between the bars.3.Press down on the holder and tighten the
