SteptronicSporttransmission
With the respective transmission version, the
lowest possible gear can be selected by simulj
taneously operating the kickdown and the left
shift paddles. This is not possible by switching briefly via the shift paddles from selector leverposition D to manual mode.

by pulling and holding the left shift paddle.
The selected gear is briefly displayed in the inj
strument cluster, followed by the current gear.

Generalinformation
Electronically unlock the transmission lock to
maneuver vehicle from a danger area.
Unlocking is possible, if the starter can spin the
engine.
Before unlocking the transmission lock, set the parking brake to prevent the vehicle from rollj
ing away.
EngagingselectorleverpositionN1.Press and hold down brake pedal.2.Press the Start/Stop button. The starter
must audibly start. Hold the Start/Stop butj
ton pressed.3.With your free hand, press the button on
the selector lever, arrow 1, and press the
selector lever into selector lever position N

A Check Control message is displayed.4.Release Start/Stop button and selector lever.5.Release brake, as soon as the starterstops.6.Maneuver the vehicle from the danger areaand secure it against moving on its own.

LaunchControl
Concept
Launch Control enables optimum acceleration on surfaces with good traction under dry surjrounding conditions.
Generalinformation
The use of Launch Control causes premature
component wear since this function represents a very heavy load for the vehicle.
Do not use Launch Control during the break-in, refer to page 242, period.

Do not steer the steering wheel when drivingoff with Launch Control.
Functionalrequirements
Launch Control is available when the engine is
warmed up, that is, after uninterrupted driving of at least 6 miles/10 km.
Startwithlaunchcontrol1.Switch on drive-ready state.2. Press button.
TRACTION is displayed in the instrument
cluster and the indicator light for DSC OFF
lights up.3.Engage selector lever position S.4.With the left foot, forcefully press down on
the brake.5.Press and hold down the accelerator pedal
beyond the resistance point at the full
throttle position, kickdown.
A flag symbol is displayed in the instruj
ment cluster.6.The starting engine speed adjusts. Within
3 seconds, release the brake.
Repeateduseduringatrip
After Launch Control was used, the transmisj
sion must cool down for approx. 5 minutes, bej fore Launch Control can be used again.Launch Control adjusts to the surroundingconditions, when used again.
AfterusingLaunchControl
To increase vehicle stability, activate DSC Dyj
namic Stability Control again as soon as possij ble.
Systemlimits
An experienced driver may be able to achieve better acceleration values in DSC OFF mode.

The Driving Dynamics Control influences the
driving dynamics properties of the vehicle. The vehicle can be adjusted depending on the sitjuation using various driving modes.

CheckControl
Concept
The Check Control system monitors functions
in the vehicle and notifies you of malfunctions
in the monitored systems.
Generalinformation
A Check Control message is displayed as a
combination of indicator or warning lights and
SMS text messages in the instrument cluster
and, if applicable, in the Head-up Display.
In addition, an acoustic signal may sound and an SMS text message may appear on the Conjtrol Display.
Indicator/warninglights
Concept Indicator/warning lights in the instrument clusjter display the status of some functions in the vehicle and indicate when a malfunction ispresent in the monitored systems.
Generalinformation
The indicator and warning lights can light up in
a variety of combinations and colors.
Several of the lamps are checked for proper functioning and light up temporarily when
drive-ready state is switched on.
Redlights Safetybeltreminder Indicator lamp flashes or is illuminated:
safety belt on the driver or passenger side is not buckled. The safety belt rej
minder can also be activated if objects are
placed on the front passenger seat.
Make sure that the safety belts are positioned correctly.
Airbagsystem Airbag system and belt tensioner are
not working.
Have the vehicle checked immediately
by a dealerss service center or another qualij
fied service center or repair shop.
Parkingbrake The parking brake is set.Release the parking brake, refer to

Tachometer
Generalinformation
Always avoid engine speeds in the red warning
field. In this range, the fuel supply is reduced to
protect the engine.
Shiftpointindicator
Concept
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, the shift point indicator indicates the maximum shiftpoint at which the best possible acceleration
can be achieved.
Functionalrequirement
Shift lights are shown when the SPORT or
SPORT PLUS driving program is activated.
Switchingonshiftlights Steptronic Sport transmission:1.Select SPORT or SPORT PLUS usingDriving Dynamics Control.2.Activate the M/S manual mode of thetransmission.
Manual transmission:
Select SPORT or SPORT PLUS using Driving Dynamics Control.
Display
'yCurrent engine speed is displayed in the
tachometer.'yArrow 1: successive yellow illuminated
fields indicate an increase in the speed.'yArrow 2: successive orange illuminated fields indicate the upcoming shift moment.'yArrow 3: the field lights up red. Do not wait

When the maximum possible speed is
