Continueddrivingwithaflattire
Observe the following when continuing to drive with a damaged tire:1.Avoid sudden braking and steering maneujvers.2.Do not exceed a speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.3.Check the air pressure in all four tires atthe next opportunity.
If the tire inflation pressure in all four tires
is correct, the Flat Tire Monitor may not
have been initialized. In this case, initialize
the system.
Possibledrivingrangewitha
depressurizedtire
The possible driving range varies depending on the how the vehicle is loaded and used, e.g.,
speed, road conditions, external temperature.
The driving range may be less but may also be
more if an economical driving style is used.
If the vehicle is loaded with an average weight and used under favorable conditions, its possij
ble driving range will be up to 50 miles/80 km.
Vehiclehandlingwithdamagedtires
A vehicle with a damaged tire reacts differj
ently, e.g., it has reduced lane stability during
braking, a longer braking distance and different
self-steering properties. Adjust your driving
style accordingly. Avoid abrupt steering maj
neuvers or driving over obstacles, e.g., curbs,
potholes, etc.
Finaltirefailure
Vibrations or loud noises while driving can indij
cate the final failure of a tire.
Reduce speed and stop; otherwise, pieces of
the tire could come loose and cause an accij
dent.
Do not continue driving. Contact a dealerss service center or another qualified service cenj ter or repair shop.
Changingwheels/tires
Generalinformation
When using run-flat tires or tire sealants, a tire does not always need to be changed immedijately in the event of pressure loss due to a flattire.
If needed, the tools for changing wheels are available as accessories from a dealerss service
center or another qualified service center or rej pair shop.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The jack, issued by the vehicle manufacj
turer, is provided in order to perform a wheel change in the event of a breakdown. The jackis not designed for frequent use; for example, changing from summer to winter tires.. Usingthe jack frequently may cause it to become
jammed or damaged. There is a risk of injury
and risk of damage to property. Only use the
jack to attach an emergency or spare wheel in the event of a breakdown.'

WARNING
The vehicle jack is optimized for lifting
the vehicle and for the jacking points on the
vehicle only. There is a risk of injury. Do not lift
any other vehicle or cargo using the vehicle jack.'

'yDepending on the equipment version, gettools and the emergency wheel from the
vehicle.'yIf necessary, set up a warning triangle or
portable hazard warning lamp at an approj priate distance.'yDo not place wood blocks or similar itemsunder the vehicle jack; otherwise, it cannot
reach its carrying capacity because of the
restricted height.'ySecure the vehicle additionally against rollj
ing.'yLoosen the lug bolts a half turn.
Jackingpointsforthevehiclejack
The jacking points for the vehicle jack are loj cated at the indicated positions.
Jackingupthevehicle WARNING
Hands and fingers can be jammed when
using the vehicle jack. There is a risk of injury. Comply with the described hand position and
do not change this position while using the vej
hicle jack.'

5.Make sure that the vehicle jack foot is exjtended vertically.6.Make sure that the vehicle jack foot stands
vertically and perpendicularly beneath the jacking point after extending the vehicle
jack.7.Crank the vehicle up, until the vehicle jack is with the entire surface on the groundand the relevant wheel is maximum 1.2 injches/3 cm above ground.
Mountingawheel
Mount one emergency wheel only.
1.Unscrew the lug bolts and remove the
wheel.2.Put the new wheel or emergency wheel on and screw in at least two bolts in a crossj
wise pattern until hand-tight.
If non-original light-alloy wheels of the vej hicle manufacturer are mounted, the acj
companying lug bolts may have to be used
as well.3.Hand-tighten the remaining lug bolts and tighten all bolts well in a crosswise pattern.4.Turn the crank on the vehicle jack counterj
clockwise to retract the jack and lower the vehicle.5.Remove the vehicle jack.
Afterthewheelchange
1.Tighten the lug bolts crosswise. The tightjening torque is 101 lb ft/140 Nm.2.Stow the nonworking wheel in the cargo
area.
The nonworking wheel cannot be stored under the cargo floor panel because of its
size.3.Check tire inflation pressure at the next opj
portunity and correct as needed.4.Reinitialize the Flat Tire Monitor.
Reset the Tire Pressure Monitor.5.Check to make sure the lug bolts are tight
with a calibrated torque wrench.6.Drive to the nearest dealerss service center
or another qualified service center or repair
shop to have the damaged tire replaced.
Emergencywheel
Generalinformation
In the event of a flat tire, the emergency wheel
can be used instead of the defective tire. The
emergency wheel is provided for temporary
use so that you can have the defective wheel
replaced.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The emergency wheel has particular dij
mensions. When driving with an emergency wheel, changed driving properties may occurat higher speeds, e.g., reduced lane stability
when braking, longer braking distance and changed self-steering properties in the limitarea. There is a risk of an accident. Drive modj

Generalinformation
Engineoilconsumption The engine oil consumption is dependent on
the driving style and driving conditions.
Therefore, regularly check the engine oil level after refueling.
The engine oil consumption can increase in
the following situations, for example:'ySporty driving style.'yBreak-in of the engine.'yIdling of the engine.'yWith use of engine oil types that are classij
fied as not suitable.
Electronicoilmeasurement
The vehicle is equipped with electronic oil
measurement.
The electronic oil measurement has two measj uring principles:
'yStatus display.'yDetailed measurement.Electronicoilmeasurement
Statusdisplay
Concept
The engine oil level is monitored electronically
while driving and shown on the Control Disj play.
If the engine oil level reaches the minimum
level, a Check Control message is displayed.
Functionalrequirements A current measured value is available after apj
prox. 30 minutes of driving. During a shorter
trip, the status of the last, sufficiently long trip
is displayed.
With frequent short-distance trips, regularly perform a detailed measurement.
