Display
Generalinformation
The display is divided into the upper status line, the information area, and the lower status
line.
UpperstatuslineThe upper status line displays the following in#j
formation:'y Vehicle secured.
Vehicle not secured.
'ySet time in the vehicle.'y Charge state of the battery in the re#j
mote control.
Informationarea
The information area can be used to access in#jformation and perform additional functions.
If the information area contains more than one
page, then page indicators are shown beneath
the information.
The indicator for the current page has
been filled in.
Swipe to the right or left with a finger to
change between the pages.
If further information is available on a page, tap the appropriate symbol.
To return to the original page:
tap on the
symbol beneath the display.
LowerstatuslineThe lower status line indicates whether or not
the remote control is within reception range,
refer to page 60.
'y"Connected": Remote control is in the re#j
ception range.'y"Updated": Remote control is outside of the reception range. It indicates when thelast data transfer from the vehicle took
place.Switchingon/off
The display will go out automatically after a
brief period to conserve battery power.
To hide the display manually:
Press button on the left side of the remote
control. Overview, refer to page 60.
To show the display:1.Press button on the left side of the remote
control.2.Then, swipe with your finger from bottom
to top to unlock the screen lock.
To switch off the display to increase the usable
battery life:
1.Press and hold the button on the left side
of the remote control for longer than 4 sec#j
onds.2."OK"
To switch the display on:

control.
Operatingconcept
Depending on the equipment, there are up to
five main menus that provide access to the
sub-menus.

Remotecontrolbattery
Generalinformation
If the charge state of the remote control bat#j
tery declines, the display is switched off auto#j matically. The battery must be recharged so
that the display can be switched back on. The
operability of the standard buttons is retained
until the battery is completely discharged.
Charging
'yPlace the remote control into the recess of
the wireless charging tray underneath the center armrest.Make sure that the display is on the side ofthe clamp and that the lock button points
upward.'yConnect the remote control via the micro-
USB charging socket to a USB port.
Malfunction
Generalinformation
A Check Control message is displayed.
BMW display key detection by the vehicle may
malfunction under the following circumstan#j
ces:
'yThe battery of the remote control is dis#j charged. Charge the battery, refer to
page 62.'yInterference of the radio connection from
transmission towers or other equipmentwith high transmitting power.'yShielding of the display key due to metalobjects.'yInterference of the radio connection frommobile phones or other electronic devices
in direct proximity.'yInterference of radio transmission by a
charging process of a mobile device, e.g.,
charging of a mobile phone.
Do not transport the display key together with
metal objects or electronic devices.
In the case of interference, the vehicle can also
be unlocked and locked from the outside with the mechanical key.

onds.
If the display key is not detected, slightly change the position of the display key and re#j
peat the procedure.
ResettingtheBMWdisplaykey
If the charged display key cannot be switched on anymore or if the display does not respondto entries anymore, the display key can be re#jset.
Press and hold the button on the left side of
the display key for at least 20 seconds, until
something appears on the display.
Integratedkey Generalinformation
The driver's door can be locked and unlocked
without remote control using the integrated
key.
The integrated key also fits the glove compart#j ment.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
For some country-specific variants, un#j
locking from the inside is only possible with special knowledge.
If people must spend a longer time in the vehi#j cle while it is very hot or cold outside, there is arisk of injury or danger to life. Do not lock the
vehicle from the outside when there are people
in it.'

Unlocking/lockingviathedoorlock1.Pull and hold the door handle outward with
one hand.2.Guide one finger of the other hand from the
back under the cover, feel for the release
there, press outwards and remove the cover.3.Unlock or lock the door lock using the
integrated key.
The other doors must be unlocked or locked from the inside.
Alarmsystem
The alarm system is not armed if the vehicle is
locked with the integrated key.
The alarm system is triggered when the door is
opened, if the vehicle has been unlocked via
the door lock.
In order to stop this alarm, unlock vehicle with
the remote control, if needed, through emer#j
gency detection of the remote control, refer to page 59.
Buttonsforthecentral
lockingsystem
Generalinformation
In the event of a severe accident, the vehicle is
automatically unlocked. The hazard warning system and interior lights come on.
Overview
Buttons for the central locking system.
Locking Pressing the button locks the vehicle
if the front doors are closed.
'yThe fuel filler flap remains unlocked.'yThe vehicle is not secured against theft
when locking.

Pressing the button unlocks the vehi#jcle.

ComfortAccess
Concept
The vehicle can be accessed without activat#j
ing the remote control.
All you need to do is to have the remote con#j
trol with you, such as in your pants pocket.
The vehicle automatically detects the remote
control when it is in close proximity or in the
vehicle's interior.

Comfort Access supports the following func#j
tions:
'yUnlocking/locking of the vehicle.'yConvenient closing.'yOpening tailgate.'yOpening/closing tailgate with no-touch ac#j
tivation.
Functionalrequirements
'yTo lock the vehicle, the remote control must be located outside of the vehicle near
the doors.'yThe next unlocking and locking cycle is not possible until after approx. 2 seconds.Unlocking
Grasp the handle of a vehicle door completely,
arrow.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Locking
The driver's door must be closed.
Touch the grooved surface on the handle of a
closed vehicle door, arrow, with your finger for
approx. 1 second without grasping the door
handle.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Convenientclosing
Safetyinformation WARNING
With convenient closing, body parts can
be jammed. There is a risk of injury. Make sure
that the area of movement of the doors is clear
during convenient closing.'

Closing
Touch the grooved surface on the handle of a
closed vehicle door, arrow, with your finger and hold it there without grasping the door handle.
This corresponds to pressing and holding the
button
on the remote control.
In addition to locking, the windows and the
glass sunroof close and the exterior mirrors fold in.
Opentailgate
Generalinformation
If you open the tailgate via Comfort Access,
locked doors will not be unlocked.
To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not place
the remote control in the cargo area.

sure that the area of movement of the tailgate is clear during opening and closing.'

Slide the switch into the arrow 1 position. The tailgate is secured and decoupled from the
central locking system.
This is beneficial when the vehicle is parked using valet service. The remote control can behanded out without the integrated key.
Emergencyunlocking
Pull the handle inside the cargo area.
The tailgate unlocks.
Malfunction In the event of an electrical malfunction, oper#jate the unlocked tailgate manually with a slowand smooth motion.

Regardless of the remote control in use, a dif#j
ferent driver profile may be activated. This al#j lows you to call up personal vehicle settings if
you did not unlock the vehicle with your own key.

Guestprofile
The guest profile is for individual settings that
are stored in none of the three personal driver
profiles.
This can be useful for drivers who are using
the vehicle temporarily and do not have their
own driver profile.

The guest profile cannot be renamed. It is not assigned to the current remote control.

A personal name can be assigned to the active
