Approachcontrolwarning
withlightbrakingfunction
Concept
The system can help prevent accidents. If an
accident cannot be prevented, the system will help reduce the collision speed.
The system sounds a warning before an immi#j
nent collision and actuates brakes independ#j
ently, if needed.
Generalinformation The system is controlled using a camera.
If the vehicle is equipped with a radar sensor,
the approach control warning is additionally
controlled via the cruise control radar sensor.
Intersection warning when equipped with a ra#j dar sensor: in addition, a warning is issued at
intersections and junctions if a risk of collision
with crossing traffic is detected.
The approach control warning is available even
if cruise control has been deactivated. With the vehicle approaching another vehicle
intentionally, the approach control warning and
braking are delayed in order to avoid false sys#j
tem reactions.
The system issues a two-phase warning of a possible risk of collision with vehicles at
speeds above approx. 3 mph/5 km/h. Time of
warnings may vary with the current driving sit#j uation.
Detectionrange
Objects that the system can detect are taken into account.
Intersection warning: the system is also able to
detect vehicles crossing your direction of travel when these vehicles enter into the de#jtection range of the system.
Safetyinformation WARNING

Prewarning
This warning is issued, for instance when there
is the impending danger of a collision or the distance to the vehicle ahead is too small.
If a prewarning is issued, intervene in the situa#j
tion yourself.
Acutewarningwithbrakingfunction
Acute warning is displayed in case of the immi#j nent danger of a collision when the vehicle ap#j
proaches another object at a high differential
speed.
If an acute warning is issued, intervene in the
situation yourself. If necessary, the system
provides assistance, such as with an automatic
braking intervention, in a possible risk of colli#j
sion.
Acute warnings can also be triggered without
previous forewarning.
Brakeintervention,Citylightbraking

The warning prompts the driver himself/herself
to react. During a warning, the maximum brak#j ing force is used when the brake is actuated.

Prerequisite is sufficiently quick and hard step#jping on the brake pedal.
The system can additionally assist possibly
with automatic braking intervention if there is a
risk of a collision.
At low speeds the vehicle can be decelerated
to a complete stop.
The braking intervention takes place up to ap#j
prox. 50 mph/80 km/h.
The braking intervention is executed only if ve#j
hicle stability has not been restricted, for in#j
stance by deactivating the DSC Dynamic Sta#j
bility Control.
The braking intervention can be interrupted by
stepping on the accelerator pedal or by ac#j
tively moving the steering wheel.
Object detection can be restricted. Follow the
limitations of the detection range and func#j tional restrictions.

At speeds above approx. 130 mph/210 km/h, the braking intervention occurs as a brief brak#jing pressure. No automatic delay occurs.
The braking intervention can be interrupted by stepping on the accelerator pedal or by ac#jtively moving the steering wheel.
Cross-traffic warning: brake intervention is not performed in the event of cross traffic.Object detection can be restricted. Follow the

Systemlimits
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system can react not at all, too late,
incorrectly, or without justification due to the system limits. There is a risk of accidents or
risk of damage to property. Follow the informa#j
tion regarding the system limits and actively intervene, if needed.'

Functionallimitations
The system may not be fully functional in the
following situations:'yIn heavy fog, wet conditions, or snowfall.'yIn tight curves.'yIf the driving stability control systems are limited or deactivated, for instance DSC
OFF.'yIf the field of view of the camera or the
windshield is dirty or covered in the area of
the interior mirror.'yIf the camera has overheated and been temporarily switched off due to excessivelyhigh temperatures.'yDepending on the equipment: if the radar
sensors are dirty or covered.'yUp to 10 seconds after the start of the en#j gine via the Start/Stop button.'yDuring calibration of the camera immedi#jately after vehicle delivery.'yIf there are constant blinding effects be#j
cause of oncoming light, for instance from
the sun low in the sky.
Warningsensitivity
The more sensitive the warning settings are,
for example the warning time, the more warn#j ings are displayed. Therefore, there may alsobe an excess of premature or unjustified warn#j
ings and reactions.
Evasionassistance
Concept
The system supports the driver in making eva#j sive maneuvers in certain situations, such as
when obstacles suddenly appear.
Generalinformation
The system issues a warning and intervenes to
support the driver if a lateral evasive maneuver
is possible. Sensors monitor and detect the
clearance around the vehicle. If the system
identifies space alongside the vehicle, it sup#j
ports an evasive maneuver begun by the driver
by safely providing targeted steering support.
Detectionrange
Objects that the system can detect are takeninto account.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not relieve from per#j
sonal responsibility to assess visibility and traf#j
fic situation. There is a risk of an accident. Ad#j just driving style to traffic conditions. Watchtraffic closely and actively intervene where ap#j
propriate.'
