battery compartment cover, arrow 1, and
lift the cover with a lever movement of the integrated key, arrow 2.3.Push battery in the direction of the arrowusing a pointed object and lift it out.4.Insert a type CR 2032 battery with the posjitive side facing up.5.Press the cover closed.

Do not transport the remote control toj gether with metal objects.'yInterference of the radio connection from mobile phones or other electronic devices
in direct proximity to the remote control.

charging process of mobile devices, for inj stance charging of a mobile phone.'yThe remote control is in direct proximity ofthe wireless charging tray.

It is not possible to switch on the drive-ready
state if the remote control has not been dej tected.
Proceed as follows in this case:
1.Hold the remote control with its back against the marked area on the steering
column. Pay attention to the display in the instrument cluster.2.If the remote control is detected:
Switch on drive-ready state within 10 secj
onds.
If the remote control is not detected, slightly
change the position of the remote control and repeat the procedure.
BMWdisplaykey
Generalinformation The BMW display key is supplied with an addij
tional mechanical key. If the display key is
used, the mechanical key should be carried
with you, for instance in the wallet.
The display key supports all functions of the
standard remote control.
In addition, the following functions are also available:
'yDisplay status of doors and windows.'yDisplay status of the anti-theft warning
system.'yDisplay service information.'yCall up range with available fuel.'yWith parked-car heating: operate parked-
car heating.
Without parked-car heating: operate parked-car ventilation.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
People or animals in the vehicle can lock
the doors from the inside and lock themselves
in. In this case, the vehicle cannot be opened
from the outside. There is a risk of injury. Take the remote control with you so that the vehiclecan be opened from the outside.'

The number of available display key functionsdepends on the distance from the vehicle.
'yWhen you are in close proximity to the vej
hicle, all functions of the display key are
available.'yThe status information can be called up in the extended reception range.
With parked-car heating: the parked-car
heating can be operated.
Without parked-car heating: the parked-car ventilation can be operated.'yOutside of the reception range of the vehijcle, you can display the last transmittedstatus information from the vehicle.
The symbol is shown on the display if one
of the buttons is pressed outside of the recepj tion range.
Display

The display is divided into the upper status line, the information area, and the lower status
line.
UpperstatuslineThe upper status line displays the following inj
formation:'y Vehicle secured.
Vehicle not secured.
'ySet time in the vehicle.'y Charge state of the display key batj
tery.
Informationarea
The information area can be used to access injformation and perform additional functions.
If the information area contains more than one
page, then page indicators are shown beneath
the information.
The indicator for the current page has
been filled in.
Swipe to the right or left with a finger to
change between the pages.
If further information is available on a page, tap the appropriate symbol.
To return to the original page:
tap on the
symbol beneath the display.
LowerstatuslineThe lower status line indicates whether or not
the display key is within reception range, refer
to page 63.
'y"Connected": the display key is within rej
ception range.'y"Updated": the display key is not within rej ception range. It indicates when the last

brief period to conserve battery power.
To hide the display manually:
Press the button on the left side of the display
key. Overview, refer to page 63.

To switch off the display to increase the usable
battery life:

Generalinformation
Follow the following information:
'yIf the charge state of the display key batj tery declines, the display is switched off
automatically. The battery must be rej
charged so that the display can be
switched back on. The operability of the
standard buttons is retained until the batj
tery is completely discharged.'yCharge the battery for at least three hours
before using the display key for the first
time or if the key has not been used for an
extended period.'yThe display key can be used while it is bej ing charged. If the battery is fully disj
charged, it may take some time before the
display key can be used again.'yDue to the large number of USB chargers available on the market, it cannot be guarj
anteed that every charger will function
properly. The charging duration depends
on the charger used.'yDuring charging, the charger and the disj play key may become warm. At higher
temperatures, the display key may cause a

Connect the display key via the micro-USB charging socket to a USB port.

wireless charging tray in front of the cup holders.
Ensure that the display is facing up.3.Close the tray cover.

something appears on the display.
Integratedkey Generalinformation
The driver's door can be locked and unlocked without remote control using the integratedkey.
The integrated key also fits the glove compartj ment.
Safetyinformation WARNING
For some country-specific variants, unj
locking from the inside is only possible with special knowledge.
Persons who spend a lengthy time in the vehij
cle while being exposed to extreme temperaj
tures are at risk of injury or death. Do not lock the vehicle from the outside when there are
people in it.'

3.Use your left thumb to push the cover to
the right.4.Unlock or lock the door lock using the
integrated key.
The other doors must be unlocked or locked from the inside.
Alarmsystem
The alarm system is not switched on if the vej
hicle is locked with the integrated key.
The alarm system is triggered when the door is
opened, if the vehicle has been unlocked via
the door lock.
In order to stop the alarm, unlock the vehicle
with the remote control, if necessary through emergency detection of the remote control, rej
fer to page 61.
Buttonsforthecentral
lockingsystem
Generalinformation In the event of a severe accident, the vehicle is
automatically unlocked. The hazard warning
system and interior lights come on.

Locking Press the button with the front doorsclosed.
'yThe fuel filler flap remains unlocked.'yThe vehicle is not secured against theft
when locking.

Opening
'yPress the button to unlock all the
doors.
Pull the door opener above the armrest.'yFront doors: pull the door handle on the door to open the door. The other doors rej

Concept
The vehicle can be accessed without activatj

All you need to do is to have the remote conjtrol with you, such as in your pants pocket.
The vehicle automatically detects the remote
control when it is in close proximity or in the
car's interior.

Grasp the handle of a vehicle door completely.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Locking
Close the driver's door.
Touch the grooved surface on the handle of a
closed vehicle door with your finger for approx.
1 second without grasping the door handle.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Convenientclosing
Safetyinformation WARNING
With convenient closing, body parts can
be jammed. There is a risk of injury. Make sure
that the area of movement of the doors is clear
during convenient closing.'
