The bulb is attached to the lid.3.Turn the bulb clockwise to remove it.4.Insert the new bulb and attach the cover in the reverse order.

The turn signals in the exterior mirrors feature

The manufacturer of your vehicle recommends
that you have a dealerss service center or anj other qualified service center or repair shopregister the vehicle battery to the vehicle afterthe battery has been replaced. Once the batjtery has been registered again, all comfort feajtures will be available without restriction andany Check Control messages displayed which
relate to comfort features will disappear.

Vehicle batteries that are not compatible
can damage vehicle systems and impair vehij
cle functions. There is a risk of personal and
property damage. Only vehicle batteries that
are compatible with your vehicle type should
be installed in your vehicle. Information on
compatible vehicle batteries is available at your

Chargingthebattery

Make sure that the battery is always suffij
ciently charged to guarantee that the battery
remains usable for its full service life.
A discharged battery is indicated by a
red indicator light.
The battery may need to be charged in the folj
lowing cases:'yWhen making frequent short-distance
drives.'yIf the vehicle is not used for more than a month.

NOTE
Battery chargers for the vehicle battery
can work with high voltages and currents,
which means that the 12 volt on-board netj
work can be overloaded or damaged. There is

The red light in the button flashes when the

In case of an emergency, an Emergency Rej
quest can be made through the system.

Check the expiration dates of the contentsregularly and replace any expired items

Storage
The first-aid kit is located behind the left-hand
cover in the cargo area.
To open, pull on the handle.
Jump-starting
Generalinformation
If the battery is discharged, the engine can be
started using the battery of another vehicle and two jumper cables. Only use jumper caj
bles with fully insulated clamp handles.

Contact with live components can lead to
an electric shock. There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Do not touch any componentsthat are under voltage.'

Preparation1.Check whether the battery of the other vejhicle has a voltage of 12 volts. The voltage
information can be found on the battery.2.Switch off the engine of the assisting vehij cle.3.Switch off any electronic systems/powerconsumers in both vehicles.
Startingaidterminals
The starting aid terminal in the engine comj
partment acts as the battery's positive termij
nal.
The body ground or a special nut acts as the battery negative terminal.
Connectingthecables To prevent personal injury or damage to bothvehicles, adhere strictly to the following procejdure.
1.Pull off the lid of the BMW starting aid terj
minal.2.Attach one terminal clamp of the positive
jumper cable to the positive terminal of thebattery, or to the corresponding starting
aid terminal of the vehicle providing assisj
tance.3.Attach the terminal clamp on the other end of the cable to the positive terminal of the
battery, or to the corresponding starting
aid terminal of the vehicle to be started.4.Attach one terminal clamp of the negative jumper cable to the negative terminal ofthe battery, or to the corresponding engine
or body ground of assisting vehicle.5.Attach the second terminal clamp to the
negative terminal of the battery, or to the corresponding engine or body ground of
the vehicle to be started.
Startingtheengine
Never use spray fluids to start the engine.
1.Start the engine of the assisting vehicle
and let it run for several minutes at an inj creased idle speed.2.Start the engine of the vehicle that is to bestarted in the usual way.
If the first starting attempt is not successj
ful, wait a few minutes before making anj
other attempt in order to allow the disj
charged battery to recharge.3.Let both engines run for several minutes.4.Disconnect the jumper cables in the rej verse order.
Check the battery and recharge, if needed.
Tow-startingandtowing Safetyinformation WARNING
Due to system limits, individual functions
can malfunction during tow-starting/towing with the Intelligent Safety systems activated.

Towfitting
Generalinformation
The screw-in tow fitting should always be carj
ried in the vehicle.
The tow fitting can be screwed in at the front
or rear of the vehicle.
The tow fitting and the onboard vehicle tool kit, refer to page 249, are together in the cargo
area.
Use of the tow fitting:
'yUse only the tow fitting provided with the
vehicle and screw it all the way in.'yUse the tow fitting for towing on paved
roads only.'yAvoid lateral loading of the tow fitting, for instance do not lift the vehicle by the towfitting.

If the tow fitting is not used as intended,
