the
vehicle
key

card
with
you

to
be
handed
over
to
another
person.
You
can
then
hand
over
the
vehicle
key
or
the
key
card,
instead
of
your
smartphone.
Always
take
the
vehicle
key
with
you
to
a
service
appointment.

lock

and

The

deactivate

take

card

the active
key
card
can

Connection
to
the
vehicle
The
communication
between
the
vehicle
and
the
smartphone
uses
near-field
communication, NFC.
The
vehicle
is
unlocked
with
the
outside
door
handle
on
the
driver's
side.
The
smartphone must
be
placed
into
the
smartphone
tray
to
pair
adigital
key
and
to
start
the
engine.
The
vehicle
also
detects
a
digital
key
when

period
of
validity
of
a
digital
key
is
limited. The
expiration
date
of
the
validity
can

checked
in
the
BMW
Connected
app
and
in
the
vehicle.
If
a
digital
key
has
expired,
the
vehicle
can
only
be
unlocked
and
locked
for
a
limited
period
and
a
limited
number
of
engine
starts
is
possible.

Display.
Transferring
digital
keys
The
vehicle
owner
can
transfer
a
digital
key
for
his/her
vehicle
to
another
person
with
a
compati#j
ble
smartphone
via
the
BMW
Connected
app.
When
a
digital
key
is
transferred,
a
transaction
number
TAN
will
be
generated.
Another
person
can
pair
the
digital
key
in
the
vehicle
with
this
TAN
and
the
Digital
Key
Code.
This
makes
it
possible
to
allow
another
person
to
use
the
vehi#j
cle
without
having
to
be
at
the
vehicle.
The
TAN
and
the
Digital
Key
Code
should
only
be
disclosed
in
person
or
by
phone.
The
Safe
Share
function
is
available
depending
on
the
software
version
of
the
BMW
Connected
app.
If
this
function
is
activated
prior
to
hand
off,
the
digital
key
is
subject
to
certain
restrictions.
For
example,
some
of
the
driving
stability
control
systems
can
no
longer
be
activated.

The
transferred
digital
key
can
be
removed
in
the
vehicle
or
via
the

app

If
the

key
has

period
of
time
and
only
a
limited
number
of
engine
starts
will

If

vehicle

used
with
another

key
or

key

Pairing
digital
keys
in
the
