tyres which encloses the damage from the injside when it hardens.
The compressor can be used to check the tyre inflation pressure.
General'yPlease observe the notes on the applicajtion of the Mobility system which are on
the compressor and the sealant container.'yApplying the Mobility system can be inefj
fective for tyre damage as from a size of approximately 4 mm.'yContact a Service partner of the manufacjturer or another qualified Service Partner or
a specialist workshop if you are unable to
put the tyre back in operation.'yIf possible, foreign matter that has penetraj ted the tyre should remain inside the tyre.'yRemove the speed limit sticker from thesealant container and attach to the steerj
ing wheel.'yUsing sealants can damage the TPM wheel
electronics. In this case, have the electronj
ics replaced at the next opportunity.
Storage
The Mobility system is located in the boot bej
hind the left side trim.

3.Bolt the connecting hose onto the connecjtor of the sealant container.4.Insert the upright sealant container into thecompressor housing.5.Screw the filler hose of the sealant conjtainer onto the tyre valve of the faulty
wheel.6.Insert the plug into the socket on the inside
of the vehicle while the compressor is switched off.7.Switch on the compressor with the ignition
switched on or the engine running.
DANGER
A blocked exhaust pipe or inadequate
ventilation can allow harmful exhaust fumes to penetrate the vehicle. The exhaust fumes conj
tain pollutants which are colourless and odourj less. In enclosed spaces, the exhaust fumescan also build up outside the vehicle. Danger of
fatal injury. Keep the exhaust pipe clear and ensure sufficient ventilation.'

The tyre inflation pressure may rise to approxij
mately 5 bar during the filling process of the
sealing compound. Do not switch off the comj pressor during this step.
If it does not reach a tyre inflation pressure of
2 bar:1.Switch off compressor.2.Remove the filler hose from the wheel.3.Drive forwards and backwards by 10 m, apj
proximately 400 inches to distribute the sealant in the tyre.4.Re-inflate the tyre with the compressor.
Contact a Service partner of the manufacjturer or another qualified Service Partner or
a specialist workshop if the device does not reach a tyre inflation pressure of 2 bar.
StoringMobilitysystem
1.Remove the filler hose of the sealant conj
tainer from the wheel.2.Remove the connecting hose of the comj pressor from the sealant container.3.Take the filler hose of the sealant containerthat was previously connected to the tyre
valve and connect it to the free connection on the sealant container.
This can prevent sealant residues from esj
caping from the container.4.Pack empty sealant container to avoid soilj
ing in the boot.5.Store Mobility system in the vehicle again.
Spreadingsealantcompound
Immediately drive for approximately 10 km/5 miles to evenly distribute the sealing
compound in the tyre.
Do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h/50 mph. If possible, do not drive slower than
20 km/h/12 mph.
Correctingthetyreinflationpressure1.Stop in a suitable area.2.Bolt the connecting hose of the compresj
sor directly onto the tyre valve.3.Insert the plug into the socket on the inside
of the vehicle.4.Correct tyre inflation pressure to 2.5 bar.'yIncrease pressure: switch on the comj
pressor with the engine running or the ignition switched on.'yReduce pressure: press the button onthe compressor.
Continuingwithjourney
Do not exceed maximum permitted speed of
80 km/h, approximately 50 mph.
Reinitialise runflat indicator.
Reinitialise Tyre Pressure Monitor. Have the punctured tyre and the sealant conj
tainer of the Mobility System replaced as soon
as possible.
Snowchains Fine-linksnowchains
The manufacturer of your vehicle recommends using fine-link snow chains. Certain fine-link
snow chains have been tested, found safe for use in traffic, and categorised as suitable bythe manufacturer of the vehicle.
Information regarding suitable snow chains is
available from a Service Partner of the manuj
facturer or another qualified Service Partner or
a specialist workshop.
Using WARNING
When installing snow chains on unsuitaj
ble tyres, the snow chains can come in contact
with vehicle parts. Danger of accident or damj age to property. Only fit the snow chains on

Vehicle jack: Australian/New Zealand
standard AS/NZS 2693
2007 m "Vehicle jacks" contains following
warning note which BMW hereby adopts: r... no person should place any portion of their body
under a vehicle that is supported by a jack'.
The jack supplied with your vehicle should not
be used for any purpose other than wheel
changing and should never be used in conj
junction with a vehicle support stand. Raising the vehicle for the purpose of inspection
should only be performed in a controlled workj
shop environment on a hoist by trained perj
sonnel.
The following warning instructions from standj
ard AS/NZS 2693:2007 are repeated here: the jack should be used on level firm ground wherj
ever possible. It is recommended that the
wheels of the vehicle be chocked, and that no
person should remain in a vehicle that is being
jacked.
The jack of your BMW is maintenance-free.
Please observe the information marked on the
jack.'

Removing
1.Place the adapter on the wheel stud.2.Unscrew wheel stud.
After reattaching the wheel stud, remove the
adapter again.
Preparingthevehicle
'yChange the wheel as far away from flowing traffic as possible.'yPark the vehicle on firm, non-slip and level
ground.'ySwitch on hazard warning lights.'yApply the parking brake.'yEngage a gear or select selector lever posij
tion P.'yAs soon as the traffic permits, get all occuj
pants to leave the vehicle and stand outj side the danger area, such as behind the
crash barriers.'yDepending on the equipment, take the tools and Emergency wheel out of the vej
hicle.'yIf applicable, set up warning triangle at the
correct distance or switch on hazard warnj
ing lights.'yDo not put any wooden blocks or similar
underneath the jack, otherwise it cannot
reach its carrying capacity due to the rej
stricted height.'yAdditionally protect the vehicle against rolling away.'yUndo the wheel studs by half a turn.
Jackmountingpoints
The jacking points are located in the marked
positions.

3.Tighten the remaining wheel studs untilfinger-tight and then tighten all the studscrosswise.4.Turn the crank on the jack anticlockwise to
retract the jack and lower the vehicle.5.Remove the jack.
Afterchangingthewheel
1.Tighten the wheel studs crosswise. The
tightening torque is 140 Nm, approxij mately 101 lb ft.2.Stow the faulty wheel in the boot.
Due to its size, the faulty wheel cannot be
accommodated under the boot floor.3.Check tyre inflation pressure at the next
opportunity and correct as necessary.4.Reinitialise runflat indicator.
Reset Tyre Pressure Monitor.5.Check the tight fit of the wheel studs using
a calibrated torque wrench.6.Drive to the nearest Service Partner of the
manufacturer, another qualified Service Partner or a specialist workshop to have
the damaged tyre renewed.
Emergencywheel
General
In case of a flat tyre, the Emergency wheel can
be used as a replacement for the defective tyre. The Emergency wheel is intended for
temporary use as a replacement for the defecj
tive wheel.
Safetynote WARNING
The emergency wheel has special dij
mensions. When driving with an emergency wheel, the driving properties may change athigher speeds, for example reduced directional
stability when braking, longer braking distance
and modified self-steering behaviour in the
limit range. Danger of accidents. Drive with care and do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h,50 mph.'
