KEYS
The keys allow you to switch on the
ignition and operate the passenger
air bag disarming switch as well as to
independently operate the locks on
t h e d o o r s a n d t h e f u e l fi l l e r c a p . Locating your vehicle
To locate your vehicle, if you have
locked it, in a car park:
press button A , the courtesy lamps
come on and the direction indica-
t o r s fl a s h f o r a f e w s e c o n d s . Changing the battery of the
remote control

This locks the engine control sys-
tem as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
d o e s n o t h a v e t h e k e y .
The ignition key has an electronic
c h i p w h i c h h a s a s p e c i a l c o d e . W h e n
the ignition is switched on, the code
must be recognised for the vehicle to
s t a r t .
If the system does not function
correctly, the central locking button
indicator light, situated in the centre
o f t h e f a s c i a , fl a s h e s r a p i d l y w h e n t h e
ignition is switched on (2nd notch),
accompanied by an audible signal
a n d a m e s s a g e o n t h e d i s p l a y .

Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the
driver's door, if the key has been left
i n t h e i g n i t i o n . Make a careful note of the
n u m b e r o f e a c h k e y . T h i s
number is coded on the label
a t t a c h e d t o t h e k e y .
The high frequency remote control is
a sensitive system; do not operate it
while it is in your pocket as there is a
possibility that it may unlock the vehi-
c l e , w i t h o u t y o u b e i n g a w a r e o f i t .
The remote control does not operate
when the key is in the ignition, even
when the ignition is switched off,
e x c e p t f o r r e p r o g r a m m i n g .
Do not operate the deadlocking function
i f t h e r e i s a n y o n e i n s i d e t h e v e h i c l e .
Driving with the doors locked may
make access to the passenger com-
partment by the emergency services
m o r e d i f fi c u l t i n a n e m e r g e n c y .
As a safety precaution (with children
on board), remove the key from the
ignition when you leave the vehicle,
e v e n f o r a s h o r t t i m e .
Do not repeatedly press the buttons
of your remote control out of range of
y o u r v e h i c l e .
You run the risk of stopping it from
working and the remote control would
h a v e t o b e r e p r o g r a m m e d .
W h e n p u r c h a s i n g a s e c o n d - h a n d
vehicle, have the key codes memo-
rised by a CITROËN dealer, to ensure
that the keys in your possession are the
o n l y o n e s w h i c h c a n s t a r t t h e v e h i c l e .
D o n o t m a k e a n y m o d i fi c a t i o n s t o t h e
e l e c t r o n i c e n g i n e i m m o b i l i s e r s y s t e m . If the keys are lost

THE ALARM SYSTEM *
The alarm offers two types of protection:
- exterior protection: the alarm
sounds if a door, the boot or the
bonnet is opened ;
- interior protection: the alarm
sounds if there is a variation in
the volume inside the vehicle
(breaking of a window or move-
ment inside the vehicle) .
Setting the alarm
Switch the ignition off and get out of
t h e v e h i c l e .
A c t i v a t e t h e a l a r m w i t h i n fi v e m i n u t e s
f o l l o w i n g y o u r e x i t f r o m t h e v e h i c l e ,
by locking using the remote control
key (the red indicator light on the
switch 1 , which can be seen from the
o u t s i d e , fl a s h e s o n c e a s e c o n d ) . Warning
If, on setting the alarm, a door, the
boot or the bonnet are not closed
correctly, the siren sounds for a mo-
m e n t .
Close the vehicle correctly to set the
a l a r m .
If the interior protection alarm is trig-
gered ten times in succession, it is
d i s a r m e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y . I t m u s t b e
set again in order for it to operate
c o r r e c t l y .
W h e n t h e a l a r m i s t r i g g e r e d , t h e s i r e n
sounds and the direction indicators
fl a s h f o r t h i r t y s e c o n d s .
After it has been triggered, the alarm
b e c o m e s o p e r a t i o n a l a g a i n .
Note: if you wish to lock your vehicle
without setting the alarm, lock it using
t h e k e y i n t h e d o o r l o c k .
Disarming the alarm
Unlock the vehicle using the remote
control key (the red indicator light on
the switch 1 g o e s o u t ) .
Note: i f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s , i t i s
a sign that the alarm has been trig-
g e r e d i n y o u r a b s e n c e .
T o s t o p i t , s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n .
Note: when the alarm is set, but the
remote control no longer works:
unlock the doors using the key
and open the door; the alarm is
triggered;
switch the ignition on within
ten seconds; the alarm is dis-
a r m e d .
To set the alarm with exterior
protection only
If, while you are away from the vehicle,
you wish to leave a window partially
open or a pet inside the vehicle, you
n e e d t o s e l e c t e x t e r i o r p r o t e c t i o n o n l y :

control only controls the door
