STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT
When the vehicle is stationary, unlock
the steering wheel by pulling the lever.
Adjust the height and depth of the
steering wheel, then lock by pushing
the lever fully.
Acceleration
For optimum acceleration (e.g. to
overtake another vehicle), simply
press the pedal beyond the point of
resistance at the end of its travel, by
p r e s s i n g d o w n fi r m l y .
Vehicle stationary, with the
engine running
In the event of a prolonged stop with
t h e e n g i n e r u n n i n g , t h e g e a r b o x
changes automatically to neutral

STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the
engine temporarily on standby - STOP
m o d e - d u r i n g s t o p s i n t h e t r a f fi c ( r e d
l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , o r o t h e r . . . ) . T h e
engine restarts automatically - START
mode - as soon as you want to move
off. The restart takes place instantly,
quickly and silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system reduces fuel consumption and
e x h a u s t e m i s s i o n s a s w e l l a s t h e n o i s e
level when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "ECO" warning lamp comes
on in the instrument panel and
the engine goes into standby:
- with a manual gearbox , at speeds
below 12 mph (20 km/h), when you
put the gear lever into neutral and
release the clutch pedal,
- with the 6-speed electronic
gearbox system , at a speed below
5 mph (8 km/h), when you press
the brake pedal or put the gear
lever into position N . I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h t h e s y s t e m ,
a time counter calculates the sum of
the periods in STOP mode during a
journey. It rests itself to zero every time
the ignition is switched on with the key.
W i t h t h e a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x
system, for your comfort during
parking maoeuvres, STOP mode
is not available for a few seconds after
coming out of reverse gear.
STOP mode does not affect the
functionality of the vehicle, such as
b r a k i n g , p o w e r s t e e r i n g , f o r e x a m p l e .
Never refuel with the engine in
STOP mode; you must switch off
the ignition with the key. Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
STOP mode is not invoked when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- t h e v e h i c l e h a s n o t e x c e e d e d 6 m p h
(10 km/h) since the last engine start
using the key,
- the parking brake is applied or being applied,
- the engine is needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the
passenger compartment,
- demisting is active,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature,
braking assistance, ambient
temperature...) where the engine
is needed to assure control of a
system.
In this case, the "ECO"
w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r a
few seconds, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

Reactivation
Press the "ECO OFF" switch again.
The system is active again; this is
c o n fi r m e d b y t h e s w i t c h w a r n i n g
lamp going off and a message in the
instrument panel.
The system is reactivated
automatically at every new start
using the key. Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction
with the system, the "ECO
OFF" switch warning lamp
fl a s h e s , t h e n c o m e s o n
continuously.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer
o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
In the event of a fault in STOP
mode, the vehicle may stall. It is then
necessary to switch off the ignition and
start the engine again using the key. Maintenance
Before working under the bonnet,
deactivate the Stop & Start system
to avoid any risk of injury resulting
from automatic operation of START
mode.
T h i s s y s t e m r e q u i r e s a s p e c i fi c
b a t t e r y w i t h a s p e c i a l s p e c i fi c a t i o n
and technology (reference numbers
available from a CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p ) .
Fitting a battery not listed by
CITROËN introduces the risk of
malfunction of the system.
The Stop & Start system makes
use of advanced technology. All
work on this type of battery must
be done only by a CITROËN dealer or
a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .

Diesel pre-heating warning
light
If the temperature is high
enough, the warning light
comes on for less than one
second, you can start without
waiting.
In cold weather, wait for this warning
light to switch off then operate the
starter (Starting position) until the
engine starts. Door or bonnet open
warning light
If this comes on, a door or the
bonnet is not closed correctly, check!
Minimise engine and gearbox wear
When switching off the ignition, let the
engine run for a few seconds to allow
the turbocharger (Diesel engine) to
return to idle.
Do not press the accelerator when
switching off the ignition.
There is no need to engage a gear
after parking the vehicle.
STARTING AND STOPPING
Running and accessories position.
To unlock the steering, turn the
steering wheel gently while turning the
key, without forcing. In this position,
certain accessories can be used.
Starting position.
The starter is operated, the engine
turns over, release the key.
STOP position: steering lock.
The ignition is off. Turn the steering
wheel until the steering locks. Remove
the key.

HILL START ASSIST
This function, linked with the ESP,
makes hill starts easier and is activated
in the following conditions:
- the vehicle must be stationary, engine running, foot on the brake,
- the gradient of the road must be steeper than 5 %,
- u p h i l l , t h e g e a r b o x m u s t b e i n neutral or in a gear other than
reverse,
- downhill, reverse gear must be engaged.
The HHC (Hill Holder Control) or Hill
Start Assist function is a driving comfort
system. It is not an automatic vehicle
parking function or an automatic
parking brake. Operation
With the brake pedal and clutch pedal
pressed, from the time you release the
b r a k e p e d a l y o u h a v e a p p r o x i m a t e l y
2 seconds before the vehicle starts to
roll back and without using the parking
brake within which to move off.
During the moving off phase, the
function is deactivated automatically,
gradually releasing the braking
pressure. During this phase, the typical
noise of mechanical release of the
brakes can be heard, indicating the
imminent movement of the vehicle.
Operating fault
Hill start assist is deactivated in the
following situations:
- when the clutch pedal is released,
- when the parking brake is applied,
- when the engine is switched off,
- when the engine stalls.
If a malfunction of the
system occurs, this
warning lamp comes on
accompanied by an audible
s i g n a l a n d c o n fi r m e d b y a
message on the screen. Contact a
CITROËN dealer to have the system
checked.
