D R I V I N G In bad weather or in winter, ensure
that the sensors are not covered
with mud, ice or snow. When re-
verse gear is engaged, an audible
signal (long beep) indicates that
the sensors may be dirty.
When the vehicle is being driven at
a speed below approximately 6 mph
(10 km/h), certain sources of noise
(motorcycles, lorries, pneumatic
drills...) may trigger the parking as-
sistance audible signals.

 Press button A again, the warn-
ing lamp switches off, the system
is reactivated.
Reactivation

 Press button A , the warning lamp
comes on, the system is fully de-
activated.
The system will be deactivated au-
tomatically when a trailer is being
towed or when a bicycle carrier is
fi tted (vehicle fi tted with a towbar
or bicycle carrier recommended by
CITROËN). Operating fault
Deactivation
If an operating fault occurs,
this warning lamp is displayed
on the instrument panel and/
or a message appears on the
multifunction screen, accompanied by
an audible signal (short beep), when
reverse gear is engaged.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.

PNEUMATIC SUSPENSION

Grand C4
Picasso
C4 Picasso
The rear pneumatic suspension en-
hances driving comfort by maintain-
ing a constant body height whatever
the vehicle load. Operation
- If there is an increase in vehi-
cle load, a sinking of the rear of
the vehicle is detected and the
pneumatic springs infl ate in or-
der to compensate for the extra
weight.
- If there is a decrease in load, a rising of the rear of the vehicle is
detected and so the pneumatic
springs defl ate to return the ve-
hicle to its nominal height.
- If the vehicle has been unused for a long period, the pneumatic
springs may infl ate if necessary
when you unlock or open a door,
so as to return the vehicle to its
nominal height.
If you do not reactivate the system
manually, the automatic correction
will be activated as soon as the ve-
hicle starts to move. During the cor-
rection, the service warning lamp
lights up and a message on the
screen reminds you not to exceed
10 km/h (6 mph).
The automatic correction does not
function if the doors or the boot are
open.
The automatic correction operates
even if your vehicle is in power
economy mode. Activation/Deactivation
The automatic correction can be de-
activated:

 press on the button B for approx-
imately two seconds,

 release the button when you hear
a beep. Deactivation is confi rmed
by the lighting of the indicator lamp
on the button B .

In the event of the system mal-
functioning, alert messages,
always in association with the
service warning lamp, will dis-
play in the instrument panel .
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
It is essential that you should deactivate
the system in the following instances:
- working under the vehicle,
- changing a wheel,
- transporting the vehicle on a
truck or on a boot.
To reactivate the automatic correc-
tion:

 press again on the button B for
approximately two seconds,

 release the button when you hear
a beep. Activation is confi rmed
by the extinction of the indicator
lamp on the button B .

Loading/unloading
assistance

Grand C4

C4 Picasso
The pneumatic suspension has an
additional function associated with
it: the possibility to raise or lower
the height of the rear of the vehicle
when stationary, in order to facilitate
loading/unloading of the boot. Increasing the height of the boot
fl oor

 Press continuously at the top of
the control A , which is located in
the boot, on the left-hand side.
This action will be accompanied by
an audible signal. You can stop the
movement at any time by releasing

3 beeps will confi rm that the move-
ment has gone as far as it can.

Returning to the
normal
height

 Press briefl y twice at the bottom
of the control A .
Decreasing the height of the boot
fl oor

 Press continuously at the bottom
of the control A .
This action will be accompanied by
a sound signal. You can stop the
movement at any time by releasing
the control.
3 beeps will confi rm that the move-

Returning to the
normal
height

 Press briefl y twice at the top of
the control A .
Driving with the boot in a
low position may damage
the components located un-
der the bodyshell.

Special features
- If you start the vehicle without having returned it to the normal
height, automatic correction will
activate as soon as the vehicle
starts to move. During the cor-
rection, the service warning lamp
lights up and a message on the
screen reminds you not to ex-
ceed 10 km/h (6 mph).
- The loading assistance does not function in the following instances:
- If the button B is lit up,
- in power economy mode,
- when you fi rst use the function, press for two seconds on the
control A to initialise the system.
All subsequent actions will be
followed immediately by the de-

Screenwash and headlamp
wash fluid
Fluid specifi cation
For optimum cleaning and to avoid
freezing, this fl uid must not be topped
up or replaced with plain water.
Reservoir capacities:
-
screenwash: approximately 3 litres,
- screenwash and headlamp wash: approximately 6 litres. Diesel additive level
(Diesel engine with particle
emission filter)
A low additive level is indicated by
lighting of the service warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible warning
and a message on the multifunction
screen.
Topping up
This additive must be topped up by
a CITROËN dealer without delay.
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of
used oil or fl uids with the
skin.
Most of these fl uids are harmful to
health or indeed very corrosive.
Do not discard used oil or
fl uids into sewers or onto
the ground.
Take used oil to a CITROËN dealer
(France) or an authorised waste
disposal site.
In the case of vehicles fi tted
with headlamp washers, the
minimum level of this fl uid is
indicated by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction
screen.
Top up the level when you next stop
the vehicle.

CHECKS
Unless otherwise indicated, check
these components in accordance
with the Maintenance and Warranty
Guide and according to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Battery The battery does not require
any maintenance.
However, check that the
terminals are clean and
correctly tightened, par-
ticularly in summer and
winter.
When carrying out work on the bat-
tery, refer to the "Practical infor-
mation" section for details of the
precautions to be taken before dis-
connecting the battery and following
its reconnection.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Refer to the Maintenance
and Warranty Guide for
details of the replacement
intervals for these compo-
nents.
Depending on the environment (e.g.
dusty atmosphere) and the use of
the vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace
them twice as often if necessary
(refer to the "Engines" paragraph).
A clogged cabin fi lter may have an
adverse effect on the performance
of the air conditioning system and
generate undesirable odours.
Oil filter
Replace the oil fi lter each
time the engine oil is
changed. Particle filter system (Diesel)
Complementary to the catalytic
converter, this fi lter makes an ac-
tive contribution to the preservation
of air quality by the retaining of the
unburnt pollutant particles. Black
exhaust fumes are thus no longer
emitted.
After prolonged idling or driving at very
low speeds, you may occasionally no-
tice water vapour being emitted from
the exhaust when accelerating. This is
of no consequence to the running of
the vehicle or to the environment.
If there is risk of clogging, a mes-
sage appears on the multifunction
screen, accompanied by an audi-
ble signal and lighting of the service
warning lamp.
This alert tells you that the particle
fi lter is starting to fi ll up (in conditions
of urban driving of exceptionally long
duration: low speeds, traffi c jams
etc.)
To regenerate the fi lter, it is advised
to drive as soon as possible, when
traffi c conditions permit, at a speed
of 40 mph (around 60 km/h) or
more for at least fi ve minutes (until
the alert message disappears).
If this alert persists, consult a
CITROËN dealer.
Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of the
replacement interval for this compo-
nent.
