GEAR SHIFT
INDICATOR SYSTEM
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The “GSI” system (Gear Shift Indicator)
advises the driver to change gear via a sig-
nal on the instrument panel (see fig. 108).
Through the GSI, where provided, the dri-
ver is advised that changing gear will re-
duce fuel consumption.
Therefore, for driving oriented towards
cutting fuel consumption, it is recom-
mended to follow the suggestions of the
Gear Shift Indicator. When the SHIFT UP icon (
NSHIFT) is
shown on the display, the GSI is advising
the driver to select a higher gear, while
the SHIFT DOWN icon (
OSHIFT) sug-
gests a lower gear should be engaged.

CAR INACTIVITY
If the car is to be left inactive for longer
than a month, the following precautions
should be observed:
❒park the car in covered, dry and, if pos- sible, well-ventilated premises;
❒engage a gear;
❒check that the handbrake is engaged;
❒disconnect the clip for the negative bat-tery terminal and check battery charge.
Repeat this check once every three
months during storage. Recharge the
battery if the indicator is dark and the
middle area is not green;
❒clean and protect the painted parts us-ing protective wax;
❒clean and protect the shiny metal partsusing special compounds readily avail-
able;
❒sprinkle talcum powder on the rubberwindscreen and rear window wiper
blades and lift them off the glass;
❒open the windows slightly;
❒cover the car with a fabric or perfo-rated plastic sheet. Do not use compact
plastic sheets which do not allow hu-
midity to evaporate from the surface of
the car;
❒inflate tyres to a pressure of +0.5 barabove the normal specified pressure
and check regularly;
❒if you don’t disconnect the battery fromthe electrical system, check its charge
every month and recharge it if the in-
dicator shows a dark colour without
the central green area;
❒do not drain the engine cooling system.
IMPORTANT Where relevant, switch off
the car alarm with the remote control.
Keep your speed down when snow chains are fitted – do
not exceed 50 km/h. Avoid
potholes, steps and pave-
ments and also avoid driving
for long distances on roads
not covered with snow to avoid dam-
aging the car and the road surface.

GENERIC WARNING
(amber)
The warning light turns on in the follow-
ing circumstances:
Engine oil pressure sensor fault
The warning light turns on when a failure
is detected in the engine oil pressure sen-
sor. Go to a Fiat Dealership to have the
fault fixed as soon as possible.
Start&Stop fault
(for versions/markets where provided)
The warning light comes on when a
Start&Stop failure is detected.
A specific message is displayed on certain
versions.
Exterior lights fault
See the section on warning light

Fuel cut-off switch tripped
The warning light comes on when the
fuel cut-off switch is triggered.
The display will show a specific message.

EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAULT (amber)
The warning light comes on (on some ver-
sions) when a failure is detected in one
of the following lights:
– sidelights
– brake lights
– rear fog lights
– direction indicators
– number plate lights
– daytime running lights (DRL) (for ver- sions/markets, where provided)
The failure relating to these lights could
be: one or more blown bulbs, a blown
protection fuse or a break in the electri-
cal connection.
On certain versions warning light è turns
on as an alternative.
A specific message is displayed on certain
versions.

REAR FOG LIGHTS
(amber)
The light comes on when the rear fog
lights are turned on.

CAR PROTECTION SYSTEM FAULT
- FIAT CODE (amber)
The warning light switching on (on some
versions, with the displaying of a message)
signals the failure of the Fiat Code system
or, if installed, of the alarm system: in this
case, contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as
possible.

FRONT LIGHT CLUSTERS

The front light clusters contain sidelights,
dipped beam, main beam and direction in-
dicator bulbs. The bulbs are arranged inside the light
cluster as follows:
Asidelights
B daytime running lights
C direction indicators
D main beam/dipped beam headlights.
IMPORTANT You can replace the front
direction indicator, main beam and dipped
beam headlight bulbs through the access
flap (see “Direction indicators” in this sec-
tion). SIDELIGHTS fig. 17
To change the bulb, proceed as follows:
❒remove the rubber cap by pulling the
flap;
❒press in tabs B
and remove the bulb
holder;
❒remove the bulb C and replace it;
❒refit the bulb holder and then refit the
cap, ensuring that it locks into place.

To change the bulb, proceed as follows:
❒turn the bulb holder A-fig. 18 anti-
clockwise using the tab and pull it out;
❒remove the bulb B by pushing it in
slightly and turning it anti-clockwise;
❒refit the bulb holder by putting it in its
housing and turning it clockwise until it
locks into place. MAIN/DIPPED BEAM

To change the bulb, proceed as follows:
❒remove the rubber cap;
❒disconnect the central electric connec-
tor
B-fig. 19 and release the bulb hold-
er catch;
❒remove the bulb Aand replace it;
❒fit the new bulb, aligning the outlines of
the metallic part with the grooves on
the reflector;
❒refit the bulb holder catch and recon-
nect the electrical connector;
❒refit the cap, ensuring that it locks in-

tating it counter-clockwise and dis-
connect the electrical connector.
REAR LIGHT CLUSTERS
The rear light clusters contain taillight,
brake light and direction indicator bulbs.
The bulbs are arranged inside the light
cluster fig. 26 as follows:
D direction indicators
E brake lights.
To change the bulb proceed as follows:
❒undo both fastening bolts A-fig 26;
❒disconnect the central electric connec-
tor Band pull the lens unit outwards;
❒ unhook the bulb holder by unclipping
the fasteners C-fig. 27;
❒remove the bulb by pushing it in gen-
tly and turning anti-clockwise (“bayo-
net” clamping), then replace it;
❒refit the bulb holder;
❒reconnect the electric connector, cor-
rectly realign the unit with the car body
and then tighten the fastening screws
A. IMPORTANT To replace the LED tail-
lights you must contact a Fiat Dealership.
