Also check that passengers,
especially children, do not have their
hands on the edge of the tailgate or
on the tailgate sill. The auto reverse
featurestopsworkingwhenthe
tailgate is about to latch so the motor
can pull the tailgate shut.

When the tailgate or the roof is
covered with snow or ice.
Do not install any accessories on the
tailgate. It may cause the tailgate to
malf unction. If there is snow or ice
on the tailgate, make sure to remove
it bef ore you operate the tailgate.
If you push the tailgate release
button inside the handle while the
tailgate is opening or closing, it will
stop moving. You need to open or
close it the rest of the way manually.
The tailgate has sensors on both
sides. Be caref ul not to damage them.
If the sensors are damaged, the
power tailgate does not f unction
properly. ANYTIME The tailgate unlocks
andopenswhenyoupressandhold
the tailgate button on the remote
transmitter for 1 second. The
tailgate will automatically relock
when you close it when the doors are
locked.
There are two settings you can
choose f rom:
When you customize the setting,
make sure your vehicle is parked
saf ely, the parking brake is applied,
all doors and the tailgate are f ully
closed and locked, and the key is
removed f rom the ignition switch.
You can customize the power
tailgate setting not to open without
unlocking the tailgate lock f irst by
remote transmitter from the outside.
If you try to drive off with the
tailgate open, a beeper sounds and a
‘‘TAILGATE OPEN

WHEN UNLOCKED In this mode,
you must unlock the tailgate bef ore
opening it. In addition, the tailgate
will not automatically relock when
you close it.If the power door lock system cannot
unlock the tailgate, unlock it
manually.
Placeaclothonthetopsideof the
cover to prevent scratches, then use
a small f lat-tip screwdriver to remove
the cover on the back of the tailgate.
Press and hold the power tailgate
switch until the PTG buzzer
sounds. (Switch should be held on
longer than 5 seconds).
You can switch between these two
modes as f ollowing: Insert the key into the ignition and
turn to the ON (II) position. Release the switch.
Turn of f the ignition and remove
the key.
To go back to the other setting,
repeat the above procedure.
When mode is set the ‘‘WHEN
UNLOCKED,

To open the glass hatch, press the
glass hatch release button on the
tailgate.
If you need to unlock the tailgate
manually, it means there is a
problem with the tailgate. Have the
vehicle checked by your dealer.
Push the release lever to the right as
shown.
Make sure the shif t lever is in the
Park (P) position.
If youcannotopenthetailgate,
remove the cover on the back of the
tailgate (see page ). Make sure
the shif t lever is in the Park (P)
position. Push the release lever to
the right as shown, then pull the
outer handle to open the tailgate.To close the glass hatch, lower it and
press on the handle until it latches.

The rear wiper will not operate with
the glass hatch open. If you open the
glass hatch while the rear wiper is
operating, the wiper will return to its
parked position (see page ). The
wiper will resume operation af ter the
glass hatch is closed.Keepthetailgateandtheglasshatch
closed at all times while driving to
avoid damaging the tailgate and the
glass hatch, and to prevent exhaust
gas from getting into the interior.

µ Press and hold this
button for about 1 second to attract
attention; the horn will sound, and
the exterior lights will f lash f or about
30 seconds. To cancel panic mode,
press any other button on the remote
transmitter, or turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position. Panic
mode does not work when the key is
in the ignition switch.
Avoid dropping or throwing the
transmitter.
Do not immerse the transmitter in
any liquid.
If you lose a transmitter, the
replacement needs to be
reprogrammed by your dealer.
When you press the UNLOCK
button, the f ront and rear individual
map lights and the cargo area light,
depending on their switch positions,
will come on (see page ). If you
do not open any door or the tailgate,
the lights stay on for about 30
seconds, then go out. If you relock
thedoorsandthetailgatewiththe
remote transmitter before 30
seconds have elapsed, the lights will
go of f immediately.
If you push the same button again
while the tailgate is opening or
closing, three beeps sound, the
tailgate stops moving, reverses
direction and stops in the f ully
opened or f ully closed position.Pressandholdthe
TAILGATE button to open or close
the power tailgate. When the tailgate
begins to move, you will hear a beep,
and some f ront and rear lights will
flash.
Press this button f or about 1 second
to open the glass hatch. Even if the
glass hatch is open, the tailgate can
be locked with the remote
transmitter. Protect the transmitter from
extreme temperatures.

Inside the transmitter, separate
the inner cover f rom the keypad
by releasing the two tabs on the
cover.
If it takes several pushes on the
button to lock or unlock the doors
and the tailgate, replace the battery
as soon as possible.
Battery type: CR1616
To replace the battery:Remove the screw at the base of
the transmitter with a small
Phillips-head screwdriver.
Separate the transmitter by prying
its middle seam with your
f ingernail. Be caref ul when removing
this screw as the head of the
