B730A01L-AAT Operation Tips
o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control at "Recircula- tion (
)". Be sure to return the
control to "Fresh (
)" when the
irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep thedriver alert and comfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is
drawn in through the grilles justahead of the windshield. Care should be taken that these are not blocked by leaves, snow, ice or other ob-structions.
o To prevent interior fog on the wind-
shield, set the air intake control tothe fresh air ( ) position, fan speed to the desired position, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjust tem-perature control to desired tempera- ture.

The climate control air filter is located in the hood. It operates to decrease the amount ofpollutants entering the car. To check the climate control air filter, refer to the page 6-19. B760A04HR-GAT (If Installed)
B740D01A-AATOperation Tips
o If the interior of the car is hot when
you first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condi-
tioning system, keep all windowsclosed to keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear. This increases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine over-heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioningonce every month for a few min- utes. This will help circulate the lubricantsand keep your system in peak oper- ating condition.
! CAUTION:
o If the car is being driven in severe conditions such as dusty, rough roads, more frequent climate con- trol air filter inspections are re-quired.
o When the air flow rate is decreased,
it must be checked at an autho-rized dealer.

AM and FM radio signals are broadcast from transmitter towers located around your city. They are intercepted by the radio antenna on your vehicle. Thissignal is then received by the radio and sent to your vehicle speakers. When a strong radio signal has reachedyour vehicle, the precise engineering of your audio system ensures the best possible quality reproduction. However,in some cases the signal coming to your vehicle may not be strong and clear. This can be due to factors suchas the distance from the radio station, closeness of other strong radio stations or the presence of buildings, bridges orother large obstructions in the area. AM broadcasts can be received atgreater distances than FM broadcasts. This is because AM radio waves are transmitted at low frequencies. Theselong, low frequency radio waves can follow the curvature of the earth rather than travelling straight out into the at-mosphere. In addition, they curve around obstructions so that they can provide better signal coverage.
FM broadcasts are transmitted at high frequencies and do not bend to follow the earth's surface. Because of this,FM broadcasts generally begin to fade at short distances from the station. Also, FM signals are easily affected bybuildings, mountains, or other obstruc- tions. These can result in certain listen- ing conditions which might lead you tobelieve a problem exists with your ra- dio. The following conditions are normal and do not indicate radio trouble:
AM(MW, LW) reception
FM reception FM radio station

o Fading - As your vehicle moves away from the radio station, the signal will weaken and sound will begin to fade. When this occurs, we suggest that you select another stronger station.
o Flutter/Static - Weak FM signals or large obstructions between the trans-mitter and your radio can disturb thesignal causing static or fluttering noises to occur. Reducing the treble level may lessen this effect until thedisturbance clears. o Station Swapping - As a FM signal
weakens, another more powerful sig-nal near the same frequency may begin to play. This is because your radio is designed to lock onto theclearest signal. If this occurs, select another station with a stronger sig- nal.
o Multi-Path Cancellation - Radio sig- nals being received from several di-rections can cause distortion or flut-tering. This can be caused by a direct and reflected signal from the same station, or by signals from twostations with close frequencies. If this occurs, select another station until the condition has passed.

JBM004 JBM005Using a cellular phone or a two- way radio When a cellular phone is used inside the vehicle, noise may be produced from the audio equipment. This doesnot mean that something is wrong with the audio equipment. In such a case, use the cellular phone at a place as faras possible from the audio equipment.
!
!
CAUTION:
When using a communication sys- tem such a cellular phone or a radioset inside the vehicle, a separate external antenna must be fitted. When a cellular phone or a radio set is usedwith an internal antenna alone, it may interfere with the vehicle's elec- trical system and adversely affectsafe operation of the vehicle.
WARNING:
Don't use a cellular phone when youare driving. You should stop at a safeplace to use a cellular phone.

benzene or any other organic sol-vents to clean the unit. Use a dry cloth to clean the unit.
o Take care not to let any other objects than the CD player enter the CDloading slot. Do not load more than one CD at the same time.
NOTE - Playing a “copy pro- tected” non-conform- ing audio CD
Due to use of copy protection schemes of some audio CDs which are non conformance to international audio CDs standards(Red Book),these type of copy protected disc(s) may not play on this unit. In this case, please change the CDs be-cause the copy protected technol- ogy might be the reason for the re- sult above instead of audio malfunc-tion.
