1. CHECK PNP SW CIRCUIT
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “MAIN SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for “A/T”
with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out “N/P”, “R” and “D” position switches moving selector
lever to each position.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK TCM
Perform TCM input/output signals inspection. Refer to AT- 9 0 , "
TCM Input/Output Signal Reference Values" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> GO TO 4.
3. CHECK TERMINAL CORD ASSEMBLY
1. Remove control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "
Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Temperature
Sensor 2" .
2. Disconnect A/T assembly harness connector and control valve with TCM harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T assembly harness connector terminal and control valve with TCM harness
connector terminal. Refer to AT- 11 3 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — PNP/SW" .
4. If OK, check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> Replace the control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Tem-
perature Sensor 2" .
NG >> Replace open circuit or short to ground and short to power in harness or connectors.
4. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
Harness for short or open between battery and A/T assembly harness connector terminals 1, 2
Harness for short or open between ignition switch and A/T assembly harness connector terminal 6
10A fuse (No. 37, located in the fuse and fusible link block) and 10A fuse (No. 83, located in the IPDM E/
R).
Ignition switch, Refer to PG-3, "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.

1. CHECK INPUT SIGNALS
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “ECU INPUT SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for
“A/T” with CONSULT-II.
3. Start the engine.
4. Read out the value of “VHCL/S SE·A/T” while driving.
Check the value changes according to driving speed.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK TCM
Perform TCM input/output signals inspection. Refer to AT- 9 0 , "
TCM Input/Output Signal Reference Values" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> GO TO 4.
3. CHECK TERMINAL CORD ASSEMBLY
1. Remove control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "
Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Temperature
Sensor 2" .
2. Disconnect A/T assembly harness connector and control valve with TCM harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T assembly harness connector terminal and control valve with TCM harness
connector terminal. Refer to AT- 11 8 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — VSSA/T" .
4. If OK, check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Replace open circuit or short to ground and short to power in harness or connectors.
4. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
Harness for short or open between battery and A/T assembly harness connector terminals 1, 2
Harness for short or open between ignition switch and A/T assembly harness connector terminal 6
10A fuse (No. 37, located in the fuse and fusible link block) and 10A fuse (No. 83, located in the IPDM E/
R).
Ignition switch, Refer to PG-3, "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
4. CHECK TCM GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect A/T assembly harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T assembly harness connector ter-
minal 5 (B), 10 (B) and ground. Refer to AT- 1 3 0 , "
Wiring Dia-
gram — AT — POWER" .
If OK, check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power
in harness or connectors.
5. CHECK DTC
Perform “DTC Confirmation Procedure”.
Refer to AT- 1 2 9 , "DTC Confirmation Procedure" .
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 6.
6. CHECK TERMINAL CORD ASSEMBLY
1. Remove control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "
Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Temperature
Sensor 2" .
2. Disconnect A/T assembly harness connector and control valve with TCM harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T assembly harness connector terminal and control valve with TCM harness
connector terminal. Refer to AT- 1 3 0 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — POWER" .
4. If OK, check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> Replace the control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Tem-

NG >> Replace open circuit or short to ground and short to power in harness or connectors.Continuity should exist.

3. Check continuity between A/T assembly harness connector terminal and control valve with TCM harness

4. If OK, check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> Replace the control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Tem-
perature Sensor 2" .
NG >> Replace open circuit or short to ground and short to power in harness or connectors.
6. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
Harness for short or open between battery and A/T assembly harness connector terminals 1, 2
Harness for short or open between ignition switch and A/T assembly harness connector terminal 6
10A fuse (No. 37, located in the fuse and fusible link block) and 10A fuse (No. 83, located in the IPDM E/

Harness for short or open between battery and A/T assembly harness connector terminals 1, 2.
Harness for short or open between ignition switch and A/T assembly harness connector terminal 6
10A fuse (No.37, located in the fuse and fusible link box)
10A fuse (No.83, located in the IPDM E/R)
Ignition switch, Refer to PG-3, "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
4. CHECK TCM GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect A/T assembly harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T assembly harness connector terminals 5(B), 10(B) and ground. Refer to
AT- 1 3 0 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — POWER" .
4. If OK, check the harness for short circuit to ground or the power
source.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Repair the open or short circuit in the harness or
connector.
5. CHECK A/T CHECK INDICATOR LAMP CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check the combination meter. Refer to DI-4, "
COMBINATION METERS" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6
NG >> Replace the combination meter. Refer to DI-26, "
Disassembly and Assembly for Combination
Meter" .
6. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 9 4 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" .
Do the self-diagnostic results indicate
“TCM-POWER SUPPLY”?
YES >> Check the TCM power circuit. Refer to AT- 1 2 9 , "DTC P1701 TRANSMISSION CONTROL MOD-
ULE (POWER SUPPLY)" .
NO >> GO TO 7.
7. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
The A/T assembly harness connector terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
OK or NG
OK >> Replace the control valve with TCM. Refer to AT- 2 4 2 , "Control Valve with TCM and A/T Fluid Tem-
perature Sensor 2" .
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.Continuity should exist.

1. CHECK FUSE
Check for blown combination meter and unified meter and A/C amp. fuses.
Refer to DI-9, "Wiring Diagram — METER —" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 2.
NG >> If fuse is blown, be sure to eliminate cause of malfunction before installing new fuse. Refer to PG-
3, "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" .
2. CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Disconnect the combination meter connector and the unified meter and A/C amp. connector.
2. Check voltage between combination meter harness connector
terminals and ground.
3. Check voltage between unified meter and A/C amp. harness
connector terminals and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Check the following.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
1. CHECK FUSE AND FUSIBLE LINK
Check BCM fuses and fusible link for blown-out.
Refer to DI-59, "Wiring Diagram — CHIME —" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 2.
NG >> If fuse or fusible link is blown, be sure to eliminate cause of malfunction before installing new fuse
or fusible link. Refer to PG-3, "
POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" .
2. CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Disconnect BCM connector.
2. Check voltage between BCM harness connector terminals and
ground.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Check harness for open between BCM and fuse or fusible link.
3. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check continuity between BCM harness connector M4 terminals
49 (B), 52 (B) and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> INSPECTION END
NG >> Repair harness or connector.

5. CHECK KEY SWITCH CIRCUIT
1. Disconnect BCM connector.
2. Check continuity between BCM harness connector M3 terminal
37 (B/W) and key switch harness connector M23 terminal 1 (B/
W).
3. Check continuity between BCM harness connector M3 terminal
37 (B/W) and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> Repair harness or connector.
6. CHECK KEY SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
Check voltage between key switch harness connector M23 terminal
2 (L/R) and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> Replace BCM. Refer to BCS-15, "Removal and Installa-
tion of BCM" .
NG >> Check harness for open or short between key switch
and fuse.
Key Warning Chime Does Not Operate (With Intelligent Key, When Mechanical
Key Is Used)

1. CHECK FUSE
Check if the key switch and ignition knob switch 10A fuse (No. 38, located in the fuse and fusible link box) is
blown. Refer to DI-59, "
Wiring Diagram — CHIME —" .
Is the fuse blown?
YES >> Replace fuse. Be sure to repair the cause of malfunction before installing new fuse.
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK WARNING CHIME OPERATION
Check the chime under conditions in exception of key warning chime (when mechanical key is used) opera-
tion.
Does warning chime sound?
YES >> GO TO 3.
NO >> Go to DI-68, "
All Warnings Are Not Operated" or DI-69, "Key Warning Chime and Light Warning
Chime Does Not Operate (Seat Belt Warning Chime Does Operate)" . Continuity should exist.
Continuity should not exist.

12. CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-VI
1. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
2. Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector E9.
3. Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 111 and IPDM E/R terminal 46.
Refer to Wiring Diagram.
4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 14.
NG >> GO TO 13.
13. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
Harness or connectors E211, M41
Harness for open or short between ECM and IPDM E/R
>> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
14. CHECK 20A FUSE
1. Disconnect 20 A fuse from IPDM E/R.
2. Check 20A fuse.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 17.
NG >> Replace 20A fuse.
15. CHECK GROUND CONNECTIONS
Loosen and retighten ground three screws on the body. Refer to EC-141, "
Ground Inspection" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 16.
NG >> Repair or replace ground connections.
16. CHECK ECM GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT-II
1. Check harness continuity between ECM terminals 1, 115, 116 and body ground.
Refer to Wiring Diagram.
2. Also check harness for short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 17.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to power in harness.Continuity should exist.
