KEYS AND DOORS
8
KEYS
11L025-3
1
Master key (black) The master key works in every lock.
For your Lexus dealer to make you a new key with builtin
transponder chip, your dealer will need it.
2
Subkey (gray) The subkey will not open the trunk, trunk
main switch and the glovebox.
3
Key number plate Keep the plate in a safe place such as
your wallet, not in the vehicle.
The master key and subkey each have a transponder chip in their key
head which is very important for the immobiliser system function,
so be careful not to lose these keys. If you make your own duplicate
key, you will not be able to cancel the system or start the engine.
To protect things locked in the trunk or glovebox when you have
your vehicle parked, leave the subkey with the attendant.Since the doors and trunk lid can be locked without a key, you should
always carry a spare master key in case you accidentally lock your
keys inside the vehicle.
If you should lose your keys or if you need additional keys,
duplicates can be made by a Lexus dealer using the key number.
You should also put a copy of the key number with your important
papers.
11L003
Since a transponder chip is not built in this flat key, you cannot
start the engine with this key. Use this key to release the lock in
case you accidentally lock your keys inside the vehicle or trunk.
Insert your flat key in its key case as shown. We recommend that you
always carry this with you for emergency use. Do not leave it in your
vehicle.

4. Insert a 15 mm (0.6 in.) spacer, and tighten down the anchor
bracket for your child restraint system with a bolt. Torque the bolt
to 16.5 24.7 N·m (1.68 2.52 kgf·m, 12.2 18.2 ft·lbf.).
To comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, vehicles
sold in Canada are provided with a bracket set in the glovebox.
DRIVING POSITION MEMORY
SYSTEM
The micro computer can memorize the position of the driver’s seat,
the height of the shoulder belt anchor of the driver’s seat belt, and the
positions of the tilt and telescopic steering, and outside rear view
mirrors. Two different driving position profiles can be entered into
the computer’s memory.
Recording a driving position in the computer’s memory can only be
done when the ignition key is in the ”ON” position and the shift lever
is in the ”P” position.
Setting a driving position
16L055
1. Adjust the driver’s seat, driver’s shoulder belt anchor, tilt and
telescopic steering and outside rear view mirrors to the desired
position.
2. While pushing the ”SET” button, push button ”1” or ”2” until
the signal beeps.

AIR CONDITIONING AND AUDIO
129
(c) Air filter
The air filter may clog after long use and reduce air flow. You can
inspect the filter easily.
When you inspect and replace the air filter, be sure to turn off the fan.
21L010
1. Open the glovebox and remove the two covers.
21L011
2. Take out the air filter.
Inspect the lower surface of the filter. If it is just moderately dusty,
it may be cleaned by blowing compressed air from the lower surface.
Do not wash or oil the filter.
If it is dirty, it should be replaced. To maintain the air conditioning
efficiency, replace the air filter according to the maintenance
schedule. (For scheduled maintenance information, please refer to
the separate ”Owner’s Manual Supplement/Maintenance
Schedule”.)
NOTICE
Do not drive with the air filter removed, or the efficiency of air
conditioning may be lost.

CHASSIS
241
CAUTION
The reservoir may be hot so be careful not to burn yourself.
NOTICE
Avoid overfilling, or the power steering could be damaged.
When adding the power steering fluid, avoid spilling it. The
generator under the power steering reservoir could be
damaged if fluid is spilled on it.
CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE
63L004-1
The recommended cold tire pressures, tire size and the vehicle
capacity weight are given on the label inside the glovebox lid.
You should check the tire pressures every two weeks, or at least once
a month. And don’t forget the spare! The pressure for the spare tire
should be 220 kPa (2.2 kgf/cm
2 or bar, 32 psi). Incorrect tire pressure
can reduce tire life and make your vehicle less safe to drive.
Low tire pressure results in excessive wear, poor handling, reduced
fuel economy, and the possibility of blowouts from overheated tires.
Also, low tire pressure can cause poor sealing of the tire bead. If the
tire pressure is excessively low, there is the possibility of wheel
deformation and/or tire separation. So keep your tire pressures at the
proper level. If a tire needs frequent refilling, have it checked by
your Lexus dealer.
