Warning messages and buzzers for dynamic ra dar cruise control with full-speed range
Warning messages and buzzers are used to indicate a system malfunction or to inform
the driver of the need for caution while driving. If a warning message is shown on the
multi-information display, read the message and follow the instructions.■
When the sensor may not be correctly detecting the vehicle ahead
In the case of the following and depending on the conditions, operate the brake pedal
when deceleration of the system is insuff icient or operate the accelerator pedal when
acceleration is required.
As the sensor may not be able to correctly detect these types of vehicles, the approach
warning (  P. 278) may not be activated.●
Vehicles that cut in suddenly ●
Vehicles traveling at low speeds ●
Vehicles that are not moving in the same lane ●
Vehicles with small rear ends (traile rs with no load on board, etc.)

Motorcycles traveling in the same lane ●
When water or snow thrown up by the surrounding vehicles hinders the detecting of
the sensor ●
When your vehicle is pointing upwards
(caused by a heavy load in the luggage com-
partment, etc.)

Preceding vehicle has an extremely high

Conditions under which the ve hicle-to-vehicle distance co ntrol mode may not function
correctly
In the case of the following conditions, op erate the brake pedal (or accelerator pedal,
depending on the situ ation) as necessary.
As the sensor may not be able to correctly detect vehicles ahead, the system may not
operate properly.

When the vehicle ahead of you decelerates suddenly ●
When the road curves or when the lanes are
narrow ●
When steering wheel operation or your posi-
tion in the lane is unstable

Cruise control Use the cruise control to maintain a set speed without depressing the accelera-
tor pedal.
Indicators
Cruise control switch
Press the “ON/OFF” button to acti-
vate the cruise control. Cruise control indicator will come on.
Press the button again to deactivate the
cruise control.
Accelerate or decelerate the vehicle
to the desired speed, and push the
lever down to set the speed. “SET” indicator will come on.
The vehicle speed at the moment the
lever is released be comes the set speed.

To change the set speed, operate the lever until the desired set speed is obtained.
Increases the speed
Decreases the speed Fine adjustment: Mo mentarily move the
lever in the desired direction.
Large adjustment: Hold the lever in the
desired direction.
The set speed will be increase d or decreased as follows:
Fine adjustment: By approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) each time the lever is operated.
Large adjustment: The set speed can be incr eased or decreased co ntinually until the
lever is released.
Pulling the lever toward you cancels
the constant speed control. The speed setting is also canceled when
the brakes are applied.
Pushing the lever up resumes the
constant speed control. Resuming is available when the vehicle
speed is more than approximately 25
mph (40 km/h). ■
Cruise control can be set when ●
The shift lever is in the D or range 4 or higher of S has been selected.●
Range 4 or higher has been selected by us ing the paddle shift. (vehicles with paddle
shift switches) ●
Vehicle speed is above approximately 25 mph (40 km/h). ■
Accelerating after setting the vehicle speed ●
The vehicle can be accelerated normally. After acceleration, the set speed resumes.●
Even without canceling the cruise control, the set speed can be increased by first accel-
erating the vehicle to the desired speed and then pushing the lever down to set the new

Automatic cruise control cancelation
Cruise control will stop maintaining the vehicl e speed in any of the following situations:●
Actual vehicle speed falls more than approximately 10 mph (16 km/h) below the preset
vehicle speed.
At this time, the memorized set speed is not retained. ●
Actual vehicle speed is below approximately 25 mph (40 km/h). ●
VSC is activated. ●
The switching operation continues for 5 seco nds or more after the center differential
lock switch has been operated. ■
If “Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer” is shown on the multi-information
display
Press the “ON/OFF” button once to deactivate the system, and then press the button
again to reactivate the system.
If the cruise control speed cannot be set or if the cruise control cancels immediately after
being activated, there may be a malfunction in the cruise control system. Have the vehi-
cle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
WA R N I N G ■
To avoid operating the cruise control by mistake
Switch the cruise control off using th e “ON/OFF” button when not in use.■
Situations unsuitable for cruise control
Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations.
Doing so may result in loss of control and could cause an accident resulting in death or
serious injury. ●
In heavy traffic ●
On roads with sharp bends ●
On winding roads ●
On slippery roads, such as thos e covered with rain, ice or snow●
On steep hills
Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill. ●
When your vehicle is towing a trailer or during emergency towing

Driving mode select switch
Normal mode/Customized mode
Normal mode and customized mode are selected by pressing the driving
mode select switch. Each time the switch is pressed, the driving mode
changes between normal mode and customized mode. When customized
mode is selected, the “CUSTOMIZE” indicator will be illuminated. Press the switch to change the driving mo de to normal mode when not in normal
mode.
• Normal mode
Provides an optimal balance of fuel economy, quietness, and dynamic per-
formance. Suitable for city driving.
• Customized mode
Allows you to drive with the following functions set to your preferred set-
tings.
Customized mode settings can only be changed on the drive mode cus-
tomization display of the Remote touch screen. (  P. 5 8 5 )The driving modes can be selected to suit driving condition.

Driving Comfort mode
By controlling the suspension, riding comfort is further enhanced. Suitable for
city driving. When not in comfort mode and the driving mode select switch is turned to the left, the
“COMFORT” indicator comes on in the multi-information display.
Eco drive mode
Helps the driver accelerate in an eco- friendly manner and improve fuel econ-
omy through moderate throttle characteristics and by controlling the opera-
tion of the air conditioning system (heating/cooling). When in comfort mode, if the driving mode select switch is turned to the left, the
“ECO” indicator will come on in the multi-information display.
Sport mode
•SPORT S mode
Controls the transmission and engine to provide quick, powerful accelera-
tion. This mode is suitable for when agile driving response is desired, such
as when driving on roads with many curves. When not in SPORT S mode, if the driving mode select switch is turned to the
right, the “SPORT S” indicator will come on in the multi-information display.
•SPORT S+ mode
Helps to ensure steering performanc e and driving stability by simulta-
neously controlling the steering and suspen sion in addition to the transmis-
sion and engine. Suitable for sportier driving. When in SPORT S mode, if the driving mode select switch is turned to the right,
the “SPORT S+” indicator will come on in the multi-information display. Function Setting

Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode
Eco drive mode controls the heating/cooling operations and fan speed of the air condi-
tioning system to enhance fuel efficiency. To improve air conditioning performance,
adjust the fan speed or turn off eco mo de of the air conditioning system. (  P. 4 0 1 )■
Automatic deactivation of sport mode and customized mode
If the engine switch is turned off after dr iving in sport mode or customized mode, the
drive mode will be changed to normal mode. ■
Driving mode pop-up display
When the driving mode is changed, the selected driving mode will be temporarily dis-
played on the side display. (  P. 3 9 4 )

On/off To turn the system on, press the switch.
The indicator light comes on and the
buzzer sounds to inform the driver that
the system is operational.
To turn the system off, press the switch
again.The distance from your vehicle to near by obstacles when parallel parking or
maneuvering into a garage is measure d by the sensors and communicated via
the multi-information display, the remo te touch screen, and a buzzer. Always
check the surrounding area when using this system.

When the sensors detect an obstacle, a graphic is shown on the multi-informa-
tion display and the remote touch screen depending on the position and distance
to the obstacle. 
