TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM – INFORMATION MESSAGES

After inflating your tires to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure as shown on the TireLabel, on the edge of the driver door or the B-Pillar, drive your vehicle for at least two minutesover 20 mph (32 km/h) before the light turns off.

CHANGING A FLAT TIRE
If you get a flat tire when driving, do notapply the brake heavily. nstead, graduallydecrease your speed, hold the steeringwheel firmly and slowly move to a safe placeon the side of the road.
Have the flat serviced by an authorizeddealer to prevent damage to the systemsensors. See Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem (page 453). Replace the spare tirewith a road tire as soon as possible. Duringrepairing or replacing of the flat tire, havethe authorized dealer inspect the systemsensor for damage.
Note:Only use tire sealants in roadsideemergencies as they may cause damage tothe tire pressure monitoring system sensor.
Note:The tire pressure monitoring systemindicator light illuminates when the sparetire is in use. To restore the full function ofthe monitoring system, all road wheels withtire pressure monitoring sensors must bemounted on this vehicle.
Dissimilar Spare Wheel and TireAssembly Information
WARNING: Failure to follow theseguidelines could result in an increased riskof loss of vehicle control, injury or death.
If you have a dissimilar spare wheel and tire,then it is intended for temporary use only.This means that if you need to use it, youshould replace it as soon as possible with aroad wheel and tire assembly that is thesame size and type as the road tires andwheels that were originally provided. If thedissimilar spare tire or wheel is damaged, itshould be replaced rather than repaired.
A dissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyis defined as a spare wheel and tire assemblythat is different in brand, size or appearancefrom the other road tires and wheels on yourvehicle.
Full-size dissimilar spare
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly, do not:
•Exceed 70 mph (113 km/h).
•Use more than one dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly at a time.
•Use snow chains on the end of thevehicle with the dissimilar spare wheeland tire assembly.
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly, it isrecommended that you do not:
•Exceed 50 mph (80 km/h) in four-wheeldrive.
•Engage four-wheel drive unless thevehicle is stationary.
•Use four-wheel drive on dry pavement.
Using a dissimilar spare wheel and tireassembly can compromise the effectivenessof the following:
•Handling, stability and brakingperformance.
•Comfort and noise.
•Ground clearance and parking at curbs.
•Winter weather driving capability.

•Wet weather driving capability.
•Four-wheel driving capability.
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly additionalcaution should be given to:
•Towing a trailer.
•Driving vehicles with a camper body.
•Driving vehicles with a load on the cargorack.
Drive cautiously when using a full-sizedissimilar spare wheel and tire assembly andseek service as soon as possible.
Location of the Spare Tire and Tools
The spare tire is located under the vehicle,just forward of the rear bumper. The jack,swivel wrench and lug wrench are in thefollowing locations:

Tire Change Procedure
WARNING: Only use replacementtires and wheels that are the same size,load index, speed rating, and type as thoseoriginally provided for your vehicle. Therecommended tire and wheel sizes can befound on the Tire Label on the driver side
door frame or the edge of the driver door.If this information is not found in thoselocations, or for additional options, contactyour authorized dealer. Use of any tire orwheel not recommended, could affect thesafety and performance of your vehicle,which could result in an increased risk ofloss of vehicle control, vehicle rollover,personal injury and death.

WARNING: To help prevent yourvehicle from moving when changing awheel, shift the transmission into park (P),set the parking brake and use anappropriate block or wheel chock tosecure the wheel diagonally opposite tothe wheel being changed. For example,when changing the front left wheel, placean appropriate block or wheel chock onthe right rear wheel.
WARNING: Only use the jackprovided as original equipment with yourvehicle.
WARNING: Switch off the runningboards before jacking or placing any objectunder your vehicle. Never place your handbetween the extended running board andyour vehicle. A moving running board maycause injury.
WARNING: Only use the spare wheelcarrier to stow wheels provided with yourvehicle.
WARNING: Ensure screwthread isadequately lubricated before use.
WARNING: Switch the ignition offand apply the parking brake. If your vehiclehas a manual transmission, shift into firstor reverse gear. If your vehicle has anautomatic transmission, shift into park (P).
WARNING: Only use the specifiedjacking points. If you use any otherlocations you could damage vehiclecomponents, such as brake lines.
WARNING: Do not attempt to changea tire on the side of the vehicle close tomoving traffic. Pull far enough off the roadto not obstruct the flow of traffic and avoidthe danger of being hit when operating thejack or changing the wheel.
1.Park the vehicle on firm, level ground andactivate the hazard flashers.
2.Apply the parking brake, place thetransmission in park (P) and switch theignition off.
3.Block the wheels diagonally opposite theflat tire, for example, if the left front tireis flat, block the right rear wheel.
Removing the Jack and Tools
1.Open the liftgate and lift the load floorbehind the third row seat. If your vehiclehas an access panel, unlatch and removethis panel.
2.Remove the wing nut by turning itcounterclockwise.
3.Remove the jack and tool kit bag fromthe bracket, loosen the straps andremove the tool bag from the jack.

Note:Pay close attention to the orientationof the jack and tool kit bag, because it needsto be reinstalled after changing the tire.
Removing the Spare Tire
1.Remove the swivel wrench from the toolkit bag, open the spare tire winch accessplug at the bottom of the compartmentfor the jack and tools tray.
2.Insert the swivel wrench through theaccess hole in the floor to engage thewinch. Turn the handle counterclockwiseuntil the tire lowers to the ground andthe cable is slightly slack.
3.Slide the retainer through the center ofthe spare tire wheel and remove thespare tire.
Note:If your wheel nuts are hidden, use thetool provided in the jack kit to remove thewheel trim to access the wheel nuts.
4.Loosen each wheel lug one-half turncounterclockwise, but do not removethem until the wheel is off the ground.
Jacking the Vehicle
WARNING: No person should placeany portion of their body under a vehiclethat is supported by a jack.

Note:The jack does not requiremaintenance or additional lubrication overthe service life of your vehicle.
Note:Both the front and rear jacking pointsare on the frame rails. The correct locationson the frame rails are marked with an arrowpunched into the frame rail. Jack at thespecified locations to avoid damaging yourvehicle.

Rear jacking point1.Position the jack at the jacking pointindicator arrow closest to the flat tirelocation. Assemble the jack driveextension to the lug wrench as shownand use it to turn the jack drive clockwiseto raise the vehicle until the flat tire iscompletely off the ground.
2.Remove the lug nuts with the lug wrench.Replace the flat tire with the spare tire,making sure the valve stem is facingoutward.
3.Reinstall the lug nuts until the wheel issnug against the hub. Do not fully tightenthe lug nuts until the wheel has beenlowered.
4.Completely lower the vehicle by turningthe jack drive counterclockwise.
5.Remove the jack and fully tighten the lugnuts in the order shown. See Wheel Nuts(page 465).

Stowing the Flat or Spare Tire
1.Lay the tire on the ground, near the rearof the vehicle, with the valve stem sidefacing up.
2.Slide the wheel partially under thevehicle and install the retainer throughthe wheel center. You may have toremove the wheel center cap prior topushing the retainer through the centerof the wheel. To remove the center cap,press it off with the jack tool from theinner side of the wheel. Pull on the cableto align the components at the end of thecable.
3.Using the swivel wrench, insert it throughthe access hole behind the third row seatand engage the winch.
4.Turn the swivel wrench clockwise untilthe tire is raised to its stowed positionunderneath the vehicle. The wrenchbecomes harder to turn and the sparetire winch ratchets or slips when the tireis raised to maximum tightness. A clickingsound can be heard from the winchindicating that the tire is properly stowed.
5.Carefully place all tools back into the toolkit bag.
6.Reinstall the tool kit bag on the jack andtighten the straps.
7.Reinstall the jack properly on the bracketand secure with the wing nut.
8.Close the access hole with the rubberplug.
9.If the vehicle has an access panel,reinstall.
10.Unblock the wheel.
WHEEL NUTS
WARNING: When you install a wheel,always remove any corrosion, dirt orforeign materials present on the mountingsurfaces of the wheel or the surface of thewheel hub, brake drum or brake disc thatcontacts the wheel. Make sure to secureany fasteners that attach the rotor to thehub so they do not interfere with themounting surfaces of the wheel. Installingwheels without correct metal-to-metalcontact at the wheel mounting surfacescan cause the wheel nuts to loosen andthe wheel to come off while your vehicleis in motion, resulting in loss of vehiclecontrol, personal injury or death.

Retighten the wheel nuts to the specifiedtorque within 100 mi (160 km) after any wheeldisturbance, such as tire rotation, changinga flat tire or wheel removal.
