Air intake selector
Outside or recirculated air positions can be
selected. Press the switch to select outside/
recirculated air positions.
Recirculated air position (
)
Outside air is shut off. Use this position
when going through tunnels, driving in
congested traffi c (high engine exhaust
areas) or when quick cooling is desired.
Outside air position (
)
Outside air is allowed to enter the
cabin. Use this mode for ventilation or
windscreen defrosting.
WARNING
Do not use the position in cold or
rainy weather:
Using the
position in cold or rainy
weather is dangerous as it will cause
the windows to fog up. Your vision will
be hampered, which could lead to a
serious accident.
DUAL switch
Use the DUAL switch to change the
mode between the individual operation
(driver and passenger) and interconnection
(simultaneous) modes.
Individual operation mode (indicator
light illuminated)
The set temperature can be controlled
individually for the driver and front
passenger.
Interconnection mode (indicator light
turned off)
The set temperature for the driver
and front passenger is controlled
simultaneously.
Windscreen defroster switch
Press the switch to defrost the windscreen
and front door windows.

 If the memory portion of the CD is
transparent or translucent, do not use the
disc.
Transparent
 


 A new CD may have rough edges on its
inner and outer perimeters. If a disc with
rough edges is used, proper setting will
not be possible and the CD player will
not play the CD. In addition, the disc
may not eject resulting in a malfunction.
Remove the rough edges in advance
by using a ball-point pen or pencil as
shown below. To remove the rough
edges, rub the side of the pen or pencil
against the inner and outer perimeter of
the CD.
 


 When driving over uneven surfaces, the
sound may jump.
 


 CDs bearing the logo shown in the
illustration can be played. No other discs
can be played.
 


 Use discs that have been legitimately
produced. If illegally-copied discs such
as pirated discs are used, the system may
not operate properly.
 


 Be sure never to touch the signal surface
when handling the CDs. Pick up a CD
by grasping the outer edge or the edge of
the hole and the outer edge.
 


 Do not stick paper or tape on the CD.
Avoid scratching the reverse side (the
side without a label). The disc may not
eject resulting in a malfunction.
 


 Dust, fi nger smudges, and dirt can
decrease the amount of light refl ected
from the signal surface, thus affecting
sound quality. If the CD should become
soiled, gently wipe it with a soft cloth
from the centre of the CD to the edge.
 


 Do not use record sprays, antistatic
agents, or household spray cleaners.
Volatile chemicals such as benzine and
thinner can also damage the surface of
the CD and must not be used. Anything
that can damage, warp, or fog plastic
should never be used to clean CDs.

 This unit may not be able to play certain
DVD-R/DVD
R/DVD-RW/DVD
RWs made using a computer or DVD
recorder due to disc characteristics,
scratches, smudges, dirt, etc., or due to
dust or condensation on the lens inside
the unit.
 


 Storing DVDs in the vehicle exposed to
direct sunlight or high temperature may
damage the DVD-R/DVD
R/DVD-
RW/DVD
RWs, and make them
unplayable.
 


 This unit may not be able to play certain
discs made using a computer due to the
application (writing software) setting
used. (For details, consult the store
where the application was purchased.)
 


 Completely read the instruction manual
and cautions for DVD-R/DVD
R/
DVD-RW/DVD
RWs. 


 Do not use discs with cellophane tape
adhering, partially peeled off labels,
or adhesive material exuding from the
edges of the DVD label. Also, do not
use discs with a commercially-available
DVD-R label affi xed. The disc may not
eject resulting in a malfunction.
 


 The conditions in which a DVD video
can be played may be pre-determined
depending on the intentions of the disc
software creator. Functions may not
operate as the user intends because
this DVD player operates according to
the design intentions of the software
creator. Always refer to the instructions
accompanying the disc to be played.

7. Install the new bulb in the reverse order
of the removal procedure.
Front fog lights

1. If you are changing the right bulb, start
the engine, turn the steering wheel all
the way to the left, and turn off engine.
If you are changing the left bulb, turn
the steering wheel to the right, and turn
off engine.
2. Make sure the fog light switch is off.
3. Pull the centre of each plastic retainer
and remove the retainers.

4. Turn the screw anticlockwise and
remove it, and then partially peel back
the mudguard.
5. Disconnect the connector from the unit
by pressing the tab on the connector
with your fi nger and pulling the
connector downward.

1. Make sure the ignition is switched off,
and the headlight switch is off.
2. Pull the centre of each plastic retainer
and remove the retainers.
3. Peel back the boot lid trim.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector
from the bulb by pressing the tab on the
connector with your fi nger and pulling
the connector.
5. Turn the socket and bulb assembly
anticlockwise and remove it.
6. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.
7. Install the new bulb in the reverse order
of the removal procedure.

1. Make sure the ignition is switched off,
and the headlight switch is off.
2. Remove the cover.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector
from the bulb by pressing the tab on the
connector with your fi nger and pulling
the connector.
4. Turn the socket and bulb assembly
anticlockwise and remove it.
5. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.
6. Install the new bulb in the reverse order
of the removal procedure.
Rear fog light (Saloon)

1. Make sure the ignition is switched off,

3. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.

The warning light fl ashes when the system has a malfunction. Have your vehicle inspected
at an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
The LDWS does not operate when the warning light fl ashes.
CAUTION
If any of the following cases occurs, the system may have a malfunction. Have the
vehicle inspected at an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
The light fl ashes while the vehicle is being driven. The light does not illuminate when the ignition is switched ON. Always use tyres for all wheels that are of the specifi ed size, and the same
manufacture, brand, and tread pattern. In addition, do not use tyres with signifi cantly
different wear patterns on the same vehicle. If such improper tyres are used, the
LDWS may not operate normally.
When an emergency spare tyre is used, the system may not operate normally.

This indicator light stays on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched ON.
Thereafter, the indicator light will illuminate when the headlight auto-levelling system has
a malfunction.
If the indicator light illuminates, contact an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised
Mazda Repairer.
NOTE
Vehicles with the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) are not equipped with the
headlight auto-levelling malfunction indicator light. If there is a malfunction with the
headlight auto-levelling function, the AFS OFF indicator light fl ashes.

The warning light illuminates if the area of the windscreen in front of the forward sensing
camera (FSC) is fogged or obstructed.
When fl ashing
This light fl ashes if there is a malfunction in the high beam control system (HBC). Have
your vehicle inspected by an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
