This system locks and unlocks the doors
and opens the trunk.
It can also help you signal for attention in
an emergency.
Press the button slowly and accurately.
Keyless Entry System
To avoid damage to the transmitter, do
not:
•Drop it.
• Get it wet.
• Disassemble it.
• Expose it to heat or sunlight.
CAUTION
NOTE
•The keyless entry system is
designed to operate up to about 2.5
m (8 ft) from the center of the
vehicle, but this may vary because
of local conditions.
• The system doesn
’t operate when
the ignition switch is in the ON
position.
• If the transmitter does not operate
when pressing a button or the
operation range becomes too small,
the battery may be dead. To install a
new battery, refer to Maintenance
(page 3-7).
• Additional transmitters can be
obtained at an Authorized Mazda
Dealer. Up to 3 additional
transmitters can be used with the
keyless entry system per vehicle.
Bring all transmitters to an
Authorized Mazda Dealer when the
electronic codes need to be reset.

Replacing the transmitter battery
1. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot and gently pry open the transmitter.
2. Press the portion of the battery indicated by A and remove the battery. 3. Install a new battery (CR2025 or the
equivalent) into the front portion of the
holder with the positive pole ( )
facing up. Press on the B portion of the
battery to set the battery.
4. Align the front and back covers and snap the transmitter shut.

Do not press any buttons when
replacing the battery. The electronic
code could be altered and cause the
keyless entry system to malfunction.
If the keyless entry system fails to
operate, contact an Authorized Mazda
Dealer.

If you have a problem with the keyless
entry system, consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer.
If your transmitter is lost or stolen, bring
all remaining transmitters to an
Authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as
possible for a replacement and to make
the lost or stolen transmitter inoperative. The ignition switch must be in the ON
position for the power windows to
operate.
• Changes or modifications could
void your right to operate the
keyless entry system.
• Damage to your keyless entry
system will affect the vehicle
warranty coverage.
CAUTION
Power Windows
Closing Power Windows:
Closing power windows are
dangerous. A person
’s hands, head,
or even neck could be caught by the
window and result in serious injury or
even death.
This warning applies especially to
children. Make sure the opening is
clear before closing a window.
To prevent burning out the fuse and
damaging the power window system,
don ’t open or close more than two
windows at once.
