Speed Limit Assist de tects speed limits with a
multifunction camera and displa ys them in the
inst rument clus ter and optionally in the head-up
displa y.The camera also de tects speed limits with
a re striction indicated byan additional sign (e.g.
when wet). The system de tects stop signs,
th ereby pr eventing the engine from being
switched o. bythe ECO start/s top function.

The system can warnyou if you unintentionally
ex ceed the maximum permissible speed. Todo
th is, you can specify in the multimedia system by
how much the maximum permissible speed can be
exceeded before a warning is issued. You can
specify whe ther thewa rning is tobe just a visual
wa rning or an acoustic one as well.

If Speed Limit Assist cannot de term ine the cur-
re nt maximum permissible speed (e.g. due to
missing signs), thefo llowing display appears in
th e Instrument Displa y: This is displa
yed continuously if theve hicle is in a
country where Speed Limit Assist is not suppor-
te d. Speed Limit Assist is not available in all coun-
tries.

The system may be impaired or may not function
in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth ere is poor visibility, e.g. due toinsu1cient
illumination of thero ad, highly variable shade
conditions, rain, sno w,fog or heavy spr ay.
R Ifth ere is glare, e.g. from oncoming tra1c,
direct sunlight or re0ections.
R Ifth e windscreen in the area of the multifunc-
tion camera is dirty, or if the camera is misted
up, damaged or co vered.
R Ifth e tra1c signs are hard todetect, e.g. due
to dirt, snow or insu1cient lighting, or

driving past it.
During the parking procedure or manoeuvring,
objects are de tected as theve hicle drives past. If
yo u steer in the direction of a de tected obs tacle
and there is a risk of a lateral collision, a warning
is issued and the segments light up in colour in
th e displa y.
The segment colour changes depending on the
distance tothe de tected obs tacle:

In order for lateral, front or rear segments tobe
displa yed, theve hicle must /rst tr avel a distance
of at least half a vehicle's length. Once theve hicle

In cer tain accident situations, the actuation of the
active bonnet reduces therisk of injury topedes-
trians. The rear area of the bonnet is raised by
appr oximately 70 mm.
