Close the socket cover and the socket Oap.

When the vehicle is connected to the mains sup-
pl
y and is switched oM, the Instrument Display
shows the charge level display for approximately
two minutes.
The value of current charging capacity 4 can dif-
fer from the display on the charging station. At a charging capacity of 10 kW or higher, the value in
t

he charge level display is rounded oM and shown
without a decimal place.
% The value in 3 v
aries depending on the set-
ting of the charging process. It displays the
charging prediction, e.g. the time at which the
selected charge level will be reached or the
charge level at the pre-selected departure

When you operate or program a garage door
wit
h an integrated garage door opener, per-
sons can become trapped or struck by the
garage door if they stand within its range of
movement. 
Always make sure that nobody is within

he range of the garage door's move-
ment. Before programming the garage door opener, park
t
he vehicle outside the garage. Make sure that the
vehicle is switched on but not started.
Requirements: = The v

ehicle has been parked outside the
garage or outside the range of movement of
the door.
= The vehicle is switched on.
= The vehicle has not been started.

Synchronising the rolling code

conditions is fulNlled:
= The vehicle has previously been driven at
speeds greater than 3 km/h.
= The vehicle is switched oM.
= The driver's door is opened.
% To prevent application: pull the handle of the
electr

ic parking brake ( page 226).
In the following situations, the electric parking
br
ake is also applied:
= The HOLD function is keeping the vehicle sta-
tionary.
= In addition, one of the following conditions
must be fulNlled:
- The vehicle is switched oM. -
The seat belt t
ongue is not inserted in the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat and
the driver's door is opened.
- There is a system malfunction.
- The power supply is insuPcient.
- The vehicle is stationary for a lengthy
period.
When the electric parking brake is applied, the
red $ indicator lamp lights up in the instru-
ment cluster.
If the electric parking brake is not applied when
the driver's door is opened, the Risk of vehicle
rolling away Apply parking brake See Owner's
Manual message appears.
% The electric parking brake is not automatically
applied if t

he vehicle is switched oM by the
ECO start/stop function.
Vehicles with automatic transmission:
The electr

ic parking brake is applied if the trans-
mission is in position j and one of the following
conditions is fulNlled:
= The vehicle is switched oM. =
The seat belt t
ongue is not inserted in the seat
belt buckle of the driver's seat and the driver's
door is opened.
% To prevent application: pull the handle of the
electr

ic parking brake ( page 226).
In the following situations, the electric parking
br
ake is also applied:
= The HOLD function is keeping the vehicle sta-
tionary.
= Active Parking Assist is keeping the vehicle
stationary.
= Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is bringing
the vehicle to a standstill.
= In addition, one of the following conditions
must be fulNlled:
- The vehicle is switched oM.
- The seat belt tongue is not inserted in the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat and
the driver's door is opened.
- There is a system malfunction.

Function of the electric parking brake (releasing
aut
omatically)
The electric parking brake is released when the
following conditions are fulNlled:
= The driver's door is closed.
= The vehicle has been started.
= Vehicles with manual transmission: a gear has
been selected, you release the clutch pedal
and depress the accelerator pedal.
= You apply the brakes and shis from neutral i
into reverse gear k or a forward gear ( 1 -
6) when on level ground.
= Vehicles with automatic transmission: the
transmission is in position h or k and you depress the accelerator pedal or you
shis
fr
om transmission position j to h or k
when on level ground.
= If the transmission is in position k, the tail-
gate must be closed.
= The seat belt tongue is inserted into the seat
belt buckle of the driver's seat.
If the seat belt tongue is not inserted into the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat, one of the
following conditions must be fulNlled:
- You shis from transmission position j.
or
- You have previously driven at speeds
greater than 3 km/h.
When the electric parking brake is released, the
red $ indicator lamp in the instrument cluster

When the vehicle has been braked to a stand-
still, the electric parking brake is applied. The
red $ indicator lamp lights up in the instru-
ment cluster. Information on collision detection on a parked

ehicle If a collision is detected when the tow-away pro-

ection is primed on a locked vehicle, you will receive a
no
tiNcation in the multimedia system
when you switch the vehicle on.
You will receive information about the following
points:
= The area of the vehicle that may have been
damaged.
= The force of the impact.
The following situation can lead to inadvertent
activation:
= The parked vehicle is moved, forexample, in a
two-storey garage.
% Deactivate tow-away protection in order to
pr
event inadvertent activation. If you deacti-
vate tow-away protection, collision detection
will also be deactivated.
System limits
De
tection may be restricted in the following situa-
tions:
= the vehicle is damaged without impact,
forexample, if an outside mirror is torn oM or
the paint is damaged by a key
= an impact occurs at low speed =

he electric parking brake is not applied
% You are responsible for your vehicle. There-

ore, always make sure that your vehicle is

If you leave the vehicle parked up for longer than
six w

eeks, it may suMer damage through disuse.
The 12 V battery may also be impaired or dam-
aged by heavy discharging.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: do not dis-
connect the 12 V battery even if the vehicle is les
idle for a lengthy period.
