Overview of SmartKeyfunctions
\nWARNINGRisk of accident and injuryduetochildren left unattended inthevehicle
Ifchildren are left unattended inthevehicle,theycould:
ROpen doors,thereby endangeringotherpersons orroad users.
RGet out ofthevehicle and be hitbyoncoming traffic.
ROperate vehicle equipment and becometrapped,forexample.
In addition,children could also setthevehi‐cle in motion,forexample,by:
RReleasingthe parking brake.
RShiftingthe automatic transmission outof park position]or shifting manualtransmission into neutral.
RStartingthe engine
When leavingthevehicle, alwaystakethe SmartKeywithyou and lockthevehicle.
Never leavechildren and animals unat‐tended inthevehicle.
Keepthe SmartKeyout ofreach ofchil‐dren.
NOTEDamagetothekey causedbymagneticfields
Keepthekeyawayfromstrong mag‐neticfields.

Ifthevehicle is not opened within approximately40 seconds after unlocking, it locksagain. Anti-theft protection is activated again.
Do notkeepthe SmartKeytogether with elec‐tronic devices or metal objects. This can affectthe SmartKey's functionality.
If batterycheck lamp2does not light upafter pressingthe6or7button,thebattery is discharged.

Activating/deactivating the acoustic lockingverification signal

Requirements:RThe ignition is switched off
The panic alarm function is onlyavailable incertain countries.
Toactivate:press button1for approx‐imatelyone second.A visual and audible alarm is triggered.Todeactivate:briefly press button1again.

Pressthestart/stop button onthe cockpit(the SmartKeyis insidethevehicle).
Changingthe unlocking settings
Possible unlocking functions ofthe SmartKey:
RCentral unlocking
RUnlockingthe driver's door and fuelfillerflap
Toswitch between settings:pressthe6and7buttons simultaneouslyforapproximately six seconds untilthe batterycheck lampflashes twice.
Ifthe unlocking functionforthe driver's doorand fuelfillerflap has been selected:
RPressingthe6button a second time cen‐trally unlocksthevehicle
RVehicles with KEYLESS-GO:Ifyoutouchthe inner surface ofthe door handle onthedriver's door, onlythe driver's door and fuelfillerflap are unlocked.
Deactivatingthe SmartKeyfunctions
Ifyou do not usethevehicle or a SmartKey foranextended period of time,you canreducetheenergy consumption oftherespective Smart‐Key .Todo so, deactivatethe SmartKeyfunc‐tions.

PushtheWbutton uptothe point ofresistance untilthe sliding sunroof is fully open.

Vehicles with a panoramic slidingsunroof:The sliding sunroof ortheroller sunblind does not operatesmoothly.
Pulland holdtheWbutton littlebylittle untilthe sliding sunroof is fully closed.
Pull and holdtheWbutton littlebylittle untiltheroller sunblind is fully closed.
Use automatic operationtofully open andthen closethe sliding sunroof.
Anti-theft protection
Function ofthe immobilizer
The immobilizer preventsyourvehicle from beingstarted withoutthe correct SmartKey.
The immobilizer is automatically activated whenthe ignition is switched off and deactivated whenthe ignition is switched on.
When leavingthevehicle, alwaystakethe Smart‐Key withyou and lockthevehicle. Anyone canstartthe engine if avalid SmartKeyhas been leftinsidethevehicle.
Intheeventthe engine cannotbestarted(yetthevehicle’sstarter battery ischarged),the system is not operational. Contact anauthorized Mercedes-Benz Center or call1-800-FOR-MERCedes (inthe USA) or1-800-387-0100(in Canada).
ATA(anti-theft alarmsystem)
Function oftheATAsystem
IftheATAsystem is armed, a visual and audiblealarm is triggered inthefollowing situations:
Rwhen a door is opened
Rwhenthe trunk lid is opened
Rwhenthe hood is opened
TheATAsystem is armed automatically afterapproximatelyten seconds inthefollowing situa‐tions:

Whenthe Mercedes‑Benz emergency callsystem is active andthe alarmstays onformorethan 30 seconds, a message is auto‐matically senttothe Customer AssistanceCenter (page322).

Ensurethefollowing beforestartingthe engine:
RThe legalstipulations inthe area whereyourvehicle is parked allow enginestarting viasmartphone.
RIt is safetostart andrunthe engine whereyourvehicle is parked.
RThe fueltank is sufficientlyfilled.

Limbs could be crushed or trapped iftheengine isstarted unintentionally duringservice or maintenancework.
Always securethe engine against unin‐tentionalstarting before carrying outmaintenance orrepairwork.

RYou can carryout a maximum of two consec‐utivestarting attempts. Thevehicle must bestarted once withthe SmartKeybefore tryingtostartthevehicle again withthe smart‐phone.
RYou canstopthevehicle again at any time.
RFurther information can befound inthesmartphone app.
