Thermotronic* (intelligent air conditio
ning)
Thermotronic is only operational when the
engine is running. Optimum performance
is only guaranteed if you drive with the win-
dows and sliding /tilting sunroof* closed.
You can switch off Thermotronic com-
pletely if required ( =page 167).
You can allow the air condi tioning to adjust
autom atical ly (
=page 167) or you can
control it manually ( =page 168).
In automatic mode, Thermotronic cools or
heats the vehicle interior depending on:
! the temperature selected
! outside temperature
! sunlight
The combination filter installed filters out
all:
! dust particles of a certain size
! pollen i
The interval for replacing the filter depends
up on enviro nmenta linfluenc es, such ashigh le v-
els of air pollution. The interval may be short er
tha nthat specified in the Service Booklet. A filter
reduces the quantity of air suppli edto the vehi-
cle inte rior.
6 In warm weather, ventilate the vehicle
for a short time, e.g. using the summer
open ing feature (=
page 183).
This ensures that the desired interior
tempe rature is achieved more rapidly.
i Observ e the following instructions to ensure
th at Thermotroni cfunctions correctly:
! Keep the air inlet onthe bonnet free from
deposi ts, e.g. ice or snow, to ensure the flow
of fre shair to the vehicle interior.
! Make sure tha tthe air vents and vent ilation
grilles in the vehicle interior are always kept
cl ear. i
Cond ensation may drip from the underside
of the vehi cle when Thermotro nicis in cooling
mode. G
Risk of accident Follow the settings recommended on the fol-
lowing pages for heating or cooling. The win-
dows coul dotherwise mist up. As a result, you
may nolongerbe able to observe road and
traffic conditions and cause an accident. H
Environmental note The
cooling system uses th erefri gerant
R134A. This refrigerant does not damage
the earth's ozone la yer. 209en_d2.boo Seite
