The first aid kit is stored in right hand side
of the trunk underneath the trunk floor in
an separate storage space.

The vehicle tool kit is stored in the com-
partment underneath the trunk floor.

Where will I find...?
Vehicle jackThe vehicle jack is stored in the space un-
derneath the trunk floor together with the
vehicle tool kit in the vehicle tool kit stor-
age well casing.

Remove the vehicle jack from its com-
partment.

Push the crank handle up.

Turn the crank handle clockwise until it
engages (operational position).
Before storing the vehicle jack in its com-
partment:

It should be fully collapsed

The handle must be folded in (storage
position)

The jack is designed exclusively for jacking
up the vehicle at the jack take-up brackets
built into both sides of the vehicle. To help
avoid personal injury, use the jack only to lift
the vehicle during a wheel change. Never
get beneath the vehicle while it is supported
by the jack. Keep hands and feet away from
the area under the lifted vehicle. Always
firmly set parking brake and block wheels
before raising vehicle with jack.
Do not disengage parking brake while the
vehicle is raised. Be certain that the jack is
always vertical (plumb line) when in use, es-
pecially on hills. Always try to use the jack
on a level surface. Make sure the jack arm is
fully seated in the jack take-up bracket. Al-
ways lower the vehicle onto sufficient ca-
pacity jackstands before working under the
vehicle.

Lift trunk floor cover and engage trunk

taining screw (
page 344) clockwise
as far as it will go to secure the
Minispare wheel.

rection of travel, otherwise you cannot
place the storage well casing
(page 344) on top and secure the
Minispare wheel with the retaining
screw (
page 344).

Where will I find...?
In the case of a flat tire, you may tempo-
rarily use the Minispare wheel when ob-
serving the following restrictions:
Do not exceed a vehicle speed of
50 mph (80 km/h).

Drive to the nearest tire repair facility
to have the flat tire repaired or re-
placed as appropriate.

Do not operate vehicle with more than
one Minispare wheel mounted.
More information can be found in the
“Technical data” section (
page 403).

The dimensions of the Minispare wheel are
different from those of the road wheels. As
a result, the vehicle handling characteristics
change when driving with a Minispare wheel
mounted.
The Minispare wheel should only be used
temporarily, and should be replaced with a
regular road wheel as quickly as possible.
!Wheel bolts2 must be used when
mounting the Minispare wheel. The use
of any wheel bolts other than wheel
bolts2 for the Minispare will physical-
ly damage the vehicle's brakes.Warning!

Make sure to use the original length wheel
bolts when remounting the original wheel af-
ter it has been repaired.

Unlocking/locking in an emergencyUnlocking the vehicle
If you are unable to unlock the vehicle with
the SmartKey or KEYLESS-GO*, open the
driver’s door and the trunk using the me-
chanical key.

Unlock the door with the mechanical
key. To do so, push the mechanical key
in the lock until it stops and turn it to
the left.
iUnlocking your vehicle with the me-
chanical key will trigger the anti-theft
alarm system. To cancel the alarm, do
one of the following:
Press button Œ or ‹ on the
SmartKey.

Insert the SmartKey in the starter
switch.
Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO*

Pull the outside door handle.

Press the KEYLESS-GO* start/stop
button (
page 33).

Unlocking/locking in an emergency
Unlocking the trunk
A minimum height clearance of 5.41 ft
(1.65 m) is required to open the trunk lid.
The lock is located next to the recessed
handle.

Insert the mechanical key into the
trunk lid lock.

Turn the mechanical key counterclock-
wise to position1 and hold it in this
position.

Pull the trunk lid handle2 and lift the
trunk lid.
The trunk opens.
Locking the vehicle
If you are unable to lock the vehicle with
the SmartKey, lock it with the mechanical
key as follows:
Close the passenger door and the trunk
lid.

Press the central locking switch in the
cockpit (
page 108).

Check to see whether the locking knob
on the passenger door down. If neces-
sary push it down manually.

Lock the driver’s door with the me-
chanical key.

Lock the trunk lid if necessary with the
mechanical key (
page 106).
! Always make sure there is sufficient
overhead clearance.

In case the central locking system does
not release the fuel filler flap, you can open
it manually.
Open trunk lid.

Remove right side trim panel in the
trunk.

Reach inside through opening2 in di-
rection of arrow.

Turn release knob 1 clockwise (ar-
row).

In case of power failure, the gear selector
lever can be manually unlocked, e.g. to tow
the vehicle.
Open the storage compartment under
the center armrest (
page 251).

Take out cover 1.

Insert a pin into the opening of
division2 and pry the division out.

Insert a tool3 (e.g. screwdriver) into
the opening.

Perform the following two steps simul-
taneously:
Push pin3 forward in the direction
of the arrow.

Move selector lever from
positionP.

Reinstall the division and cover after re-
moving the tool from the opening.iThe gear selector lever is locked again
when moving it to positionP.

If the roll bar system is malfunctioning, you
can release the roll bars manually.

If the yellow roll bar warning lamp in
the clock does not go out after starting the
engine, or if it comes on while driving, then
the roll bar system is not operating properly
and may not activate in an accident. In this
case, raise the roll bars manually before
continuing to drive.
For safety reasons drive only with the roll
bars raised until the malfunction is repaired.
Have your vehicle checked at an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center.
iThe soft top cannot be operated after
the roll bars have been manually re-
leased.
Warning!

Make sure no one is located in the roll bar’s
path of motion while the next steps are be-
ing carried out.
When the roll bar is manually released, the
rear head restraints and the roll bar under-
neath shoot up almost instantaneously.
