which can occur just by opening the hood.
There isarisk of injury.
XPullover and stop the vehiclesafelyand switch off the engine,
paying attention to road and traffic conditions.
XSecure the vehicleagainst rolling away (Ypage167).
XWaituntil the engine hascooleddown.
XMake sure thatthe air supply to the engine radiator is not
blocked, e.g. by snow, slush or ice.
XDo not start the engine again until the displaymessage goes out
and the coolant temperature is below 248‡(120 †).
Otherwise, the engine could be damaged.
XPay attention to the coolant temperature display.
XIf the temperature increases again, visitaqualified specialist
workshop immediately.
Under normal operating conditionsand with the specified coolant
level, the coolant temperature may rise to 248‡(120 †).

If the poly-V-belt is not damaged:

Check Engine Oil
Level At Next
Refueling
The engine oil level has dropped to the minimum level.
Awarning tone also sounds.
XCheckthe oil level when next refueling, at the latest
(Ypage 307).
XIf necessary, add engine oil (Ypage 308).
XHave the engine checked ataqualified specialist workshop if
engine oil needs to be added more often than usual.
!Avoid long journeys with too little engine oil. The engine will
otherwise be damaged.

qualified specialist workshop or on the Internet at http://

Fuel Level Low
The fuel level has dropped into the reserve range.
XRefuel at the nearest gas station.
There is onlyavery small amount of fuel in the fuel tank.
XRefuel at the nearest gas station without fail.

Gas Cap Loose
The fuel system pressure is too low. The fuel filler cap is not closed
correctly or the fuel system is leaking.
XCheck that the fuel filler cap is correctly closed.
If the fuel filler cap is not correctly closed:
XClose the fuel filler cap.
If the fuel filler cap is correctly closed:
XVisitaqualified specialist workshop.

multifunction steering wheel is not touched unintentionally.
The vehicle has started to skid and ESP®has intervened.
XUse Active ParkingAssist again later (Ypage 196).

be greatly impaired.

XStop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking
maneuvers. Pay attention to the traffic conditionsasyou do so.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 167).
XCheck the tires and, if necessary, follow the instructions for a
flat tire (Ypage 321).
XCheck the tire pressures and, if necessary, correct the tire
pressure.
XRestart the tire pressure loss warning system when the tire
