entire soft top is stowed away in the boot.
The Top in operation message appears
in the multifunction display.
If, whe nopening, you driv eatspeeds above
40 km/h, the opening procedure is stop-
ped and in the multifunction display, you
see the Open/close to pcompletely
message .Reduce your speed again to
below 40 km /hand pull th esoft-top switch
again, to open the soft top fully.
i Thes ide windows close if you keep on
pulling the soft-top switch.
X To close: press and hold soft-top
switch :until the soft top is fully closed.
The Topino peration message appears
in th emultifunction display.
If, when closing, you drive at speeds above
40 km/h, the closing procedure is stopped
and in the multifunction display ,you see
the Open/close to pcompletely mes-
sage .Reduce your speed again to below

The key must be near the handle of the
driver' sdoor.
X Point the tip of the key at the driver's door
handle.
X To open: press and hold the %button
on the key until the soft top is fully opened.

X To close: press and hold the &button
on the key until the soft top is fully closed.

If the soft top cannot be closed automatically,
check the following points:
R Is the boot separator engaged
(Y page 83)?
R Are the head restrain tson the rea rbench
seats extended?
R Is the boot lid closed?
R Is the on-boar dvoltage sufficient?
Start the engin eifnecessary.
If automatic operation still does not work ,the
soft top can be closed manually.
This wor kmust be performed by two persons.
i Closing the soft top manually is acom-
plex, technically demandin gprocess which
require sagreatdeal of force. Only close
the soft top manually in extreme emergen-
cies. In these situations, it is better to get
in touc hwithaqualified specialist work- 78

lock.

Centre.
i Press the soft-top compartmen tcover
again if the boot lid can notb eo pened.
! Do not under any circumstances open the
boot lid with the emergenc ykey. You could
otherwise damage the boot lid and the soft-
top compartmen tcover. Re-locking th
esoft top
The soft top is not locked if:
R the Topino peration message appears
in th emultifunction display.
R you hear awarning ton efor up to ten sec-
onds when pullin gaway or while driving.
You can lock the soft top again if it is not
locked fully.
X Stop the vehicle immediately, paying atten-
tion to road and traf ficc onditions.
X Tur nthe key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X Press the soft -top switch. Boot sepa
rator
General notes The boot separator can be used to cover lug-
gage and loads in the boot.
The soft top can only be opened when the
boot separator is closed.

To avoid damaging the soft top or load
when folding back the soft top, observe the
following:
R when the boot separator is open, do not
place any object sinorbehind the net on
the side that are so long they could
obstruct the boot separator or damage
the opened soft top.
R mak esure that the load does not push
the boot separator upwards.

To close: pull boot separator :by the
handle in the direction of the arrow until it
rest sont he sides of the boot.
The boot separator finishes closing auto-
matically.
X To open: push boot separator :against
the direction of the arrow by the handle.

Stop the vehicle as soon as road and traffic
condition spermit and rem ove anyobjects
that are blocking the backrest. G
Risk of injury
Make sure that nobody can becom etrapped
when movin gthe seat. If there is arisk of
someon ebecoming trapped, press the seat
adjustmen tswitc honthe door.
With the EASY-EN TRY feature, the seat moves
forward sifyou have folde dthe seat bac krest
forwards and th eseat is in th erear half of the
adjustment range. This makes it convenient
for passengers to get in and out of th erear
compartment.
The head restrai ntalso lowers on vehicles

push it down.
X Pull seat release handle :forwards and
fold the backrest forwards, until the seat
backrest engages.
X Push the seat as far forwards as it will go.
X Vehicles with memory function: pull seat
releas ehandle :forwards and fold the
backrest forwards as far as it will go.
The seat moves automatically to the fore-
most position.
Folding back the backrest X
Vehicles without memory function:
push the seat backrest back horizontally
until the seat reaches the position that was
previously set.
X Swing back the seat backrest evenly below
release handle :until it engages ,doing so
in as mooth manner.
X After th eseat back rest has been folded
back, chec kthe position of the head
restraint and set it to the correc tposition.

off .O therwise, impaired visibility could
endanger you and others.

off automatically after several minutes.
If the battery voltage is too low, the rear win-

Problems with th erearw indow hea ting The rea
rwindow heatin ghas deactivated
itself prematurely or cannot be activated.
X Switch off any consumers that are not
required, e.g. readin glamps or interior
lighting.
When the battery is sufficiently charged,
the rear window heatin gisactivated again
automatically. Activating/deactivating air-recircula-
tion mode
You can deactivate the flow of fresh air if
unpleasant odours are entering the vehicle
from outside .The air already insid ethe vehi-
cle will then be recirculated. The operation of the air-recirculation mode is
the sam

Only switc hover to air-recirculation mode
briefly at low outside temperatures .Other-
wise ,the windows coul dmist up, thus impair-
ing visibility and endangering yourself and
others. This may prevent you from observing
the traffic conditions, thereby causing an
accident.
X Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X To activate: press thegbutton.
The indicator lamp above the gbutton
lights up.
i Air-recirculation mode is activated auto-
matically at high outside temperatures.
When air-recirculation mode is activated
automatically, the indicator lamp above the
g button is not lit.
Outside air is added after about 30
minutes.
X To deactivate: press thegbutton.
The indicator lamp above the gbutton
goes out.
i Air-recirculation mode switches off auto-
matically:
R after approximately five minutes at out-
