Fu nction of Remo teParking Pilot
% Remo teParking Pilot is an additional func‐
tion of Parking Pilot. Comply with local traf‐
fi c la wsand regulations when using Remo te
Pa rking Pilot on public roads.
Re mo teParking Pilot supports the parking pro‐
cedure while you are outside your vehicle. Once
yo u ha veselected a suitable parking space, you
th en exitth eve hicle and guide it into the parking
space using a suitable mobile phone. Remo te
Pa rking Pilot accelerates, brakes, steers the
ve hicle and changes gear. You can cancel the
parking procedure at any time using your mob ile
phone.
Yo u can also use your mob ilephone tomo ve
yo ur vehicle backwards and forw ards in the
st ra ight-ahead position (exploration mode). This
is useful, forex ample if a garage is so nar row
th at it is dif ficult or impossible toget in or out of
th eve hicle af ter it has been par ked. Parking
Pilot automatically per form s any minor steering
cor rections that are requ ired. Re
mo teParking Pilot is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe maneu vering and
pa rking remains with you. Make sure that no
persons, animals or objects etc. are i
n
the
maneu vering range. Co mply wi thlocal traf fic
la ws and regulations when using Remo teParking
Pilot on public roads.
Fo rth eRe mo teParking Pilot function, you
re qu ire a mobile phone and the cur rent Remo te
Pa rking Pilot app.

If th e connection between theve hicle and the
mobile phone is inter rupte d while a parking
maneuver is being per form ed, the maneuver can
be continued if the connection is re-es tablished
within about two minutes.
The following scenarios are suppor ted:
RPa rking in a parking space parallel tothe
direction of tra vel.
RPa rking in a parking space at right angles to
th e direction of tra vel.
RExiting a parking space at right angles tothe
direction of tra vel (exploration mode).
RPa rking in a stra ight-ahead position, for
ex ample into a garage or carport (exploration
mode).
RExiting a parking space in a stra ight-ahead
position, forex ample from a garage or car‐
port (exploration mode).
If te ch nical problems arise du ring a pa rking
maneuver (e.g. the permitted downhill gradient
is exc eeded), thefo llowing actions are per‐
fo rm ed automatically:
RThe parking maneuver is canceled.
RThe vehicle is brought toast andstill.
RTransmission position jis engaged.
RThe vehicle is switched off.
If th e parking maneuver is canceled, a message
to this ef fect is displ ayed on the mobile phone.
Yo u can then take over and maneuver theve hi‐
cle into the parking space yourself. Alternativel y,

Whilst theve hicle is being par ked with Parking
Pilot, you can inter rupt the process totake con‐

Sy stem limitations
Sn owfa ll or heavy rain may lead toa parking
space being measured inaccurately or, in cer tain
cases, toconnection problems wi th the mobile
phone. Parking spaces that are partial ly occu‐
pied bytrailer dr awbars might not be identified
as such or be measured incor rectl y.Only use
Re mo teParking Pilot on a le vel, high-grip sur‐
fa ce. The park ing space must be at least 2 ft
(0.60 m) wider than theve hicle without the out‐
side mir rors.
Do not use Remo teParking Pilot, forex ample, in
th efo llowing situations:
RIn extreme weather conditions such as ice or
pac ked snow or in heavy rain.
RIfyo u are transport ing a loadthat pr otru des
be yond theve hicle.
RIfyo u ha veinstalled snow chains.
RIfth e parking space is on a downhill or uphill
incline.
Re mo teParking Pilot is canceled if, among other

gs, one of thefo llowing actions is car ried
out:

During the parking procedure, you must not
st and more than appr ox.10 ft(3.0 m) away from
th eve hicle. Otherwise, the procedure will be
inter rupte d and a cor responding message will be
displa yed on the mobile phone. If you mo ve
closer totheve hicle, youwill beable tocontinue
th e procedure.

de tection range of Parking Pilot
If th ere are objects abo veor below the
de tection range, thefo llowing situations may
arise:
RPa rking Pilot may steer too ear ly.
RThe vehicle may not stop in front of these
objects.
This could cause a collision.
#In these situations, do not use Parking
Pilot.
Objects located abo veor below the de tection
ra nge of Parking Pilot are not de tected when the
parking space is being measured. These are also
not take n into account when the parking maneu‐
ve r is calculated, forex ample overhanging loads,
ove rhangs or loading ramp s of truc ksorthe
boundaries of the parking space. In some cir‐
cums tances, Parking Pilot may therefore guide
yo u into the parking space prematurely.

obser ved at all times. If necessar y,cancel the
parking procedure.
Please no tethat you can only useRemo tePark‐
ing Pilot if you ha veava lid driving license.
No persons or pets are permitte dto remain in

Alw ays make sure that other road users can
access their vehicles.

also be warned of any crossing traf fic when re
ve rsing out of a parking space. If a critical sit‐
uation is de tected, a warning symbol appears on
th e camera image of the multimedia sy stem. If
th e driver does n

ve hicle&#39;s brakes can be applied automaticall y.To
do this, the function uses thera dar sensors in
th e bumper. The area adjacent totheve hicle is
continually monitored.
If th era dar sensors are obstructed byvehicles

Fu nction of ATTENTION ASSIST
AT TENTION ASSIST assists you on long, mon oto‐
nous journe ys, e.g. on free ways and trunk roads.
If AT TENTION ASSIST de tects indicators of fati‐
gue or increasing lapses in concentration on the
part of the driver, it suggests taking a brea k.
AT TENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cann ot
alw ays de tect fatigue or lapses in concentration
until too late. The sy stem is not a substitute for a
we ll-res ted and attentive driver. On long jour‐
ne ys,tak ere gular breaks in good time that allow
fo r ade quate recuperation.
Yo u can choose between two settings.
RStandard: normal sy stem sensitivity
RSensitive: higher system sensitivity. The
driver is warned earlier and the attention
le ve l de tected byATTENTION ASSIST is adap‐
te d accordingly.
If dr owsiness or inc reasing lapses in concentra‐
tion are de tected, the$77(17,21 $66,67 7DNH
D %UHDN warning appears in the Instrument Dis‐
pla y.Yo u can ackn owledge the message and
ta ke a break where necessar y.Ifyo u do not take
a break and ATTENTION ASSIST continues to
de tect increasing lapses in concentration, you
will be warned again af ter a minimum of
15 minutes.You can ha vethefo llowing status information for
AT TENTION ASSIST displa yed in the assis tance
menu of the on-board computer:
RThe length of the journey since the last
break.

If AT TENTION ASSIST is unable tocalculate the
attention le vel and cannot issue a warning, the

If a warning is given in the Instrument Displa y,
th e multimedia sy stem of fers to sear chfor a rest
area. You can select a rest area and start naviga‐
tion tothis rest area. This function can be activa‐
te d and deactivated in the multimedia sy stem.
If AT TENTION ASSIST is deactivated, theé
symbol appears in the assis tance graphic in the
Instrument Display when the engine is running.
AT TENTION ASSIST is activated automatically
when the engine is re-sta rted. The last selected
sensitivity le velre mains stored.

by how much the maximum permissible speed
can be exceeded before a warning is issued. You
can specify whe ther thewa rning is tobe just a
visual warning or an acoustic one as well.

highly variable shade conditions or in rain,

Blind Spot Assist uses two lateral,rear-facing
ra dar sensors tomonitor the area up to130ft
(40 m) behind your vehicle and 10ft(3 m)
directly next to yourvehicle.
If a vehicle is de tected at speeds ab ove appr ox‐
imately 8 mph (12 km/h) and this vehicle subse‐
qu ent lyenters the monitoring range di rectly next to yo
urvehicle, thewa rning lamp in the outside
mir ror lights up red.
If a vehicle is de tected close to yourvehicle in
th e lateral monitoring range and youswit chon
th e turn signal indicator in the cor responding
direction, a warning tone sounds once. The red
wa rning lamp in the outside mir rorflashes. If the
turn signal indica torre mains on, all other de tec‐
te dve hicles are indicated only bytheflashing of
th ere dwa rning lamp.
If yo uove rtake a vehicle quickl y,no warning is
given.
& WARNING Risk of accident despite Blind
Spot Assist
Blind Spot Assist does notreact tovehicles
approaching and overtaking you at a greatly
di fferent speed.
As a result, Blind Spot Assist cannot warn
drivers in this situation.
