There are several ways to deactivate the
alarm:
X To deactivat ethe alarmw ith the key:
press the %or& button on the key.
or
X Insert the key into the ignition lock.
or X To deactivat ethe alarmw ith KEYLESS-
GO: press the Start/Stop button in the igni-
tion lock. The key must be in the vehicle.
or
X Lock or unlock the vehicle using KEYLESS-
GO. The key must be outside the vehicle.
If you unlock the vehicle using the emergency
key element, the fuel filler flap will not be
unlocked automatically.
X To unlock the fuel filler flap: insert the
key into the ignition lock.
Removing the emergency key element X
Push release catch :in the direction of
the arrow and, at the same time, remove
emergenc ykey element ;from the key.

There is arisk of an accident and injury.
When leaving the vehicle ,always take the key
with you and lock the vehicle .Never leave
childre nand animal sunattended in the vehi-
cle. Keep the keys out of the reach of children.
Stow luggage or loads preferably in the boot/
luggage compartment. Observe the loading
guidelines (Y page 342). Unlockinga
nd opening the doors
from the inside
For all countries except the United King-
dom: you can open adoor from inside the
vehicle even if it has been locked.
If the vehicle has previously been locked from
the outside, opening adoor from the inside
willt rigger the anti-theft alarm system.
Switch off the alarm (Y page 89).
United Kingdom only: if the vehicle has
been locked with the key from the outside,
the double-lock function is activated as
standard. It is then not possible to open the
doors from inside the vehicle .You can deac-
tivate the double lock function by deactivat-
ing the interior motion sensor (Y page 91).
The doors can then be opened from the inside after the vehicle has been locked from the
outside. The anti-theft alarm system is trig-
gered if the door is opened from the inside.
Switch off the alarm (Y page 89).
For all countries: you can only open the rear
doors from inside the vehicle if they are not
secured by the child-proo flocks (Y page 76). X

If the door is locked, locking knob :pops
up. The door is unlocked and can be
opened. Centrally locking and unlocking the
vehicle from the inside
You can centrally lock or unlock the vehicle
from the inside. X
To unlock: press button :.
X To lock: press button ;.
If all the doors are closed, the vehicle locks.
This does not lock or unlock the fuel filler flap.
If the vehicle has been locked from the out-
side, it cannot be centrally unlocked from the inside.
For all countries except the United King-
dom: you can open adoor from inside the
vehicle even if it has been locked.
United Kingdom only: you can only open a
door from inside the vehicle if the double-lock
function has been deactivated. You can deac- Doors

X Remove the key from the ignition lock.
or, on vehicles with KEYLESS‑GO: X Open the driver's door.
The on-board electronics now have status

removed.
The driver's door can be closed again.
X Press the fuel filler flap in the direction of
arrow :.
The fuel filler flap opens slightly.
X Open the fuel filler flap fully.
X Turn the fuel filler cap anti-clockwise and
remove it.
X Saloon: insert the fuel filler cap intot he
holder on the inside of fuel filler flap ;.
or
X Estate: insert the fuel filler cap, held in a
horizontal position ,intot he recesses in the
fuel filler flap hinge arm from above.
X Completely insert the filler neckoft he fuel
pump nozzle intot he tank,hook in place
and refuel.
X Only fill the tank until the pump nozzle
switches off. Do not add any more fuel after the pump
stops filling for the first time. Otherwise, fuel
may leak out.
Vehicles with adiesel engine: the filler neckis
designed for refuelling at diesel filling pumps.
Closing the fuel filler flap X
Replace the cap on the filler necka nd turn
clockwise until it engages audibly.
X Press the fuel filler flap closed until it
engages audibly.
Close the fuel filler flap before lockin gthe
vehicle. Otherwise, the lockin gpin of the cen-
tral lockin gprevents the fuel filler flap from

Saloon: open the boot lid.
X Slide the luggage net down.
X Open the right-hand side trim panel.
X Remove the first-aid kit (Y page 394).
X Detach the emergency release from
retainer :.
X Pull the emergency release in the direction
of arrow ;.
The fuel filler flap is released.
