XTurn the SmartKey to positionGorHinthe ignition lock (Ypage 125).
XPress or pull theWswitch in the corre-sponding direction.
If you press/pull theWswitch beyond thepoint of resistance, automatic operation isstarted in the corresponding direction. Youcan stop automatic operation by pressing/pulling the switch again.
After opening the sliding sunroof, the rollersunblind closes slightly automatically. Thisreduces drafts in the vehicle interior.
If the sliding sunroof is raised at the rear, itlowers slightly automatically at higher speeds.The noise level in the vehicle interior isreduced as a result.
At low speeds it raises again automatically.
You can also temporarily deactivate automaticlowering. To do so, press theWswitch. Thesliding sunroof raises again automatically.
You can continue to operate the sliding sun-roof after switching off the engine or removingthe SmartKey from the ignition lock. This func-tion remains active for five minutes or untilyou open a front door.
The sliding sunroof cannot be opened if a roofcarrier is installed. In order to allow ventilationof the vehicle interior, you can raise the slidingsunroof.
If contact is made with a roof carrier approvedby Mercedes-Benz, the sliding sunroof lowersslightly but remains raised at the rear.
Rain-closing feature
The rain-closing feature is only available forvehicles with a rain sensor.
When the SmartKey is in positionZin theignition lock or is removed, the sliding sunroofcloses automatically:
Rif it starts to rain.
Rat extreme outside temperatures.
Rafter six hours.
Rif there is a malfunction in the power supply.
The panorama roof with power tilt/slidingpanel remains raised at the rear in order toallow ventilation of the vehicle interior.
If the panorama roof with power tilt/slidingpanel is obstructed while being closed by therain-closing feature, it opens again slightly.The rain-closing feature is then deactivated.
The panorama roof with power tilt/slidingpanel does not close if:
Rit is raised at the rear.
Rit is blocked.
Rno rain is falling on the area of the wind-shield being monitored by the rain sensor. Ifthe vehicle, for example, is under a bridge orin a carport, the field of the sensor may becovered.
Operating the roller sunblind for the
panorama roof with power tilt/slid-
ing panel
Important safety notes
GWARNING
Parts of the body could become trapped
between the roller sunblind and frame or
sliding sunroof during automatic opening or
closing. There is a risk of injury.
When opening or closing, make sure that no
body parts are in the sweep of the roller
sunblind.
If somebody becomes trapped:
Rrelease the switch immediately, or
Rduring automatic operation, push the
switch briefly in any direction
The opening or closing procedure will be
stopped.
The roller sunblind shields the vehicle interiorfrom sunlight. The roller sunblind can only beopened and closed when the panorama roofwith power tilt/sliding panel is closed.
Roller sunblind reversing feature
The roller sunblind is equipped with an auto-matic reversing feature. If a solid object blocksor restricts the roller sunblind during the clos-ing process, the roller sunblind opens againautomatically. The automatic reversing featureis only an aid and is not a substitute for yourattentiveness when closing the roller sunblind.

GWARNING
The reverse function does not react in par-
ticular:
Rto soft, light and thin objects, e.g. fingers
Rwhen closing the roller sunblind again
manually immediately after automatic
reversing
This means that the reversing feature can-
not prevent someone being trapped in these
situations. There is a risk of injury.
When closing the roller sunblind, make sure
that no body parts are in the range of move-
ment.
If somebody becomes trapped:
Rrelease the button immediately, or
Rbriefly push the button in any direction
during automatic closing.
The closing process is stopped.

Problems with the panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel
GWARNING
If you do not reset the sliding sunroof after a malfunction or a voltage drop, then the reversing
feature will malfunction or not work. The sliding sunroof closes with increased or maximum
force. Parts of the body could be trapped in the closing area in the process. This poses an
increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.
In such or similar situations always make sure that no parts of the body are in the closing area.
Always reset the sliding sunroof after a malfunction or a voltage drop.
!If the sliding sunroof still cannot be opened or closed as a result of a malfunction, contact aqualified specialist workshop.

The SmartKey battery is discharged or nearly discharged.
XCheck the SmartKey battery (Ypage 72) and replace it if neces-sary (Ypage 72).

Correct driver's seat position
GWARNING
You could lose control of your vehicle if you
do the following while driving:
Radjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
steering wheel or mirrors
Rfasten the seat belt
There is a risk of an accident.
Adjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
steering wheel and mirror and fasten your
seat belt before starting the engine.
Observe the following when adjusting steeringwheelC, seat beltDand driver's seat

GWARNING
If the driver's seat is not engaged, it could
move forwards as far as the next catch dur-
ing movement such as braking or abrupt
changes of direction. As a result, you would
be pushed against your seat belt by the
unsecured driver's seat.
This could cause you to lose control of the
vehicle. The seat belt cannot protect as
intended and could result in additional
injury.
There is a risk of an accident and injury.
Before every journey, make sure that the
driver's seat is fully engaged.
Observe the safety notes on "Air bags"(Ypage 44) and "Children in the vehicle"(Ypage 53).
GWARNING
If the driver's seat is not engaged, it could
move unexpectedly while the vehicle is in
motion. This could cause you to lose control
of the vehicle. There is a risk of an accident.
Always make sure that the driver's seat is
engaged before starting the vehicle.
GWARNING
You could lose control of your vehicle if you
do the following while driving:
Radjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
steering wheel or mirrors
Rfasten the seat belt
There is a risk of an accident.
Adjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
steering wheel and mirror and fasten your
seat belt before starting the engine.
GWARNING
If you adjust the seat height carelessly, you
or other vehicle occupants could be trapped
and thereby injured. Children in particular
could accidentally press the electrical seat
adjustment buttons and become trapped.
There is a risk of injury.
While moving the seats, make sure that your
hands or other body parts do not get under
the lever assembly of the seat adjustment
system.
!To prevent damage to the seats and theseat heating, observe the following notes:
RDo not spill liquids onto the seats. Dry theseats as soon as possible if liquid doesget spilled on the seats.
RIf the seat covers are damp or wet, do notswitch on the seat heating. Also, do notuse the seat heating to dry the seats.
RClean the seat covers as recommended;see the "Interior care" section.
RDo not transport heavy loads on theseats. Do not place pointed objects onthe seat cushions such as knives, nails ortools. Where possible, use the seats onlyfor carrying passengers.
RWhen operating the seat heating, do notcover the seats with insulating materials,e.g. blankets, coats, bags, protective cov-ers, child seats or booster seats.
RWhen the seat heating is switched on, theseat surface can be damaged as a resultof objects being placed on the seats, forexample, seat cushions, child seats andprotective covers not approved byMercedes-Benz.
!Make sure that there are no objects in thefootwell under or behind the seats whenmoving the seats back. There is a risk thatthe seats and/or the objects could be dam-aged.

Adjust the driver's seat, head restraint,
steering wheel and mirror and fasten your
seat belt before starting the engine.
GWARNING
If the head restraints are not installed or not
adjusted correctly, they cannot provide pro-
tection as intended. There is an increased
risk of injury in the head and neck area, e.g.
in the event of an accident or when braking.
Always drive with the head restraints instal-
led. Before driving off, make sure for every
vehicle occupant that the center of the head
restraint supports the back of the head at
about eye level.
Using the fore-and-aft adjustment, adjust thehead restraint so that it is as close as possibleto your head.
General notes
For vehicles with sports seats you cannotadjust the front head restraints or the outerrear head restraints.

Adjusting the fore/aft position of the
head restraint
With this function you can adjust the distancebetween the head restraint and the back ofthe seat occupant's head.
XTo move forwards:pull the head restraintforwards in the direction of the arrow until itengages.There are several notches.
XTo move backwards:press and holdrelease buttonCand push the headrestraint backwards.
XWhen the head restraint is in the desiredposition, release the button and make surethat the head restraint is engaged in posi-tion.

Problems with the seat heating

Never leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle.
When leaving the vehicle, always take the
SmartKey with you and lock the vehicle. This
also applies for the Digital Vehicle Key if the
"Digital Vehicle Key" function is activated via
Mercedes me connect.
Adjusting the steering wheel

If the steering wheel is unlocked while the
vehicle is in motion, it could change position
unexpectedly. This could cause you to lose
control of the vehicle. There is a risk of an
accident.
