The driver's seat may move unexpectedly

Always make sure that the driver's seat

ing the vehicle settings while the vehicle is
in motion
You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-
lo
wing situations in particular:
= if you adjust the driver's seat, the head
restraint, the steering wheel or the mirror
while the vehicle is in motion
= if you fasten your seat belt while the vehi-
cle is in motion 
Before starting the vehicle: in particular,
adjus

t the driver's seat, head restraint,
steering wheel and mirror, and fasten
your seat belt. &

seat height is adjusted carelessly
If you adjust the seat height carelessly, you or

ther vehicle occupants could be trapped and
thereby injured.
Children in particular could accidentally press
the electrical seat adjustment buttons and
become trapped. 
While moving the seats, make sure that
hands or o
ther body parts do not get
under the lever assembly of the seat
adjustment system. &

y due to head
restraints not being Ntted or being adjus-
ted incorrectly
If head restraints have not been installed or
ha
ve not been adjusted correctly, there is an
increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in the event of an accident or when
braking. 108

Always drive with the head restraints Nt-
t ed. 
Before driving oM, mak
e sure for every
vehicle occupant that the centre of the
head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye level. Do not interchange the head restraints of the
fr
ont and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able to adjust the height and angle of the head
restraints correctly.
Adjust the head restraint fore-and-as position so
that it is as close as possible to the back of your
head. &

incorrect seat position
The seat belt will not oMer t
he intended level
of protection if you have not moved the seat
backrest to an almost vertical position.
In particular, you may slip under the seatbelt
and injure yourself. 
Adjust the seat properly before begin-

Always ensure that the seat backrest is
in an almos

t vertical position and that
the shoulder section of your seat belt is
routed across the centre of your shoul-
der. &

strain on the grab handle
If you apply your full body weight to the grab
handle or pull it abr
uptly, the grab handle may
be damaged or become loose from its anchor-
age. 
Use the grab handles only to stabilise

he seating position or to assist in get-

objects under the co-driver seat
Objects trapped under the co-driver seat can

erfere with the function of the automatic
co-driver airbag shutoM or damage the system. 
Do not store any objects under the co-

When you adjust a seat, you may trap yourself
or a v
ehicle occupant. 
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has an
y body parts in the sweep
of the seat. &

seat backrest are not engaged
The seat and seat backrest can fold forwards.
Ther
e is a risk of the following, in particular:
= The vehicle occupant may be pressed
against the seat belt. The seat belt cannot
protect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injury.
= A child restraint system will no longer be
properly supported or positioned and will
no longer fulNl its function as intended. =
The seat bac
krest will not be able restrain
objects or goods in the load compartment.
Always ensure that the seat and seat backrest
are engaged, in particular:
= Before persons travel in the vehicle while
sitting on a seat with the easy entry and
exit feature
= Aser the seat has been adjusted.
= Aser the easy entry and exit feature has
been used
= Aser the load compartment enlargement

You or other vehicle occupants could be trap-

Adjust the rear seats before starting the

rear seats and/or the object can be damaged. 
Stow objects in a suitable place. This function is available only for vehicles with a
mo

vable rear bench seat.
The components of the rear bench seat can be
moved. You can move the right-hand and les-hand
parts together with the centre part independently
of each other. 
Lis r
elease handle 1 and slide the corre-
sponding part of the bench seat into the
desired position. 
Let go of release handle 1.

seat is not engaged
The seat does not engage when folded for-
w
ards. The seat can fold backwards unexpect-
edly, e.g. when accelerating, braking or in the
event of an abrupt change of direction or an
accident.
People in the seat's sweep can become trap-
ped. 
If a seat is folded forwards, always fold it
bac

k before driving oM. 
Make sure that the seat is engaged. Requirements:
= The ar

ea into which the seat is folded is clear.
Adjusting the seat backrest
You can fold the seat backrests on the second
row of seats forwards for the following situations: = For easier access to the luggage compartment
You can set the seat backrest to diMerent angles. 114

Release the rear seat backrest and fold it for-
w ards slightly (  page 126). 
Pull the head restraint upwards as far as it will
go. 
Push release knob 1 in t
he direction of the
arrow and pull out the head restraint.
Installing 
Insert the head restraint such that the notches
on t
he bar are on the les when viewed in the
direction of travel. 
Push the head restraint down until it engages. 
Fold the rear seat backrest back until it
eng
