Only refuel using diesel fuel with a sul-
phur cont
ent less than 500 ppm.
Never refuel with one of the following fuels: = P

etrol
= Marine diesel
= Heating oil
= Pure fatty acid methyl ester or vegetable
oil
= ParaPn or kerosene
If you have accidentally refuelled with the
wrong fuel:
Do not switch on the vehicle.
Consult a q
ualiNed specialist workshop. The following compatibility indications for fuel
appl

y to your vehicle: 1
For diesel fuel with a maximum of 7% fatty
acid me
thyl ester by volume (bio-diesel)
2 For diesel fuel with a maximum of 10% fatty
acid me
thyl ester by volume (bio-diesel)
According to European standard EN 16942 you
can Nnd t

he compatibility indications at the fol-
lowing locations:
= On the vehicle on the information label on the
fuel Nller Oap ( page 188)
= On the fuel dispenser or pump nozzle suitable
for your vehicle throughout Europe Information on low outside temperatures
R

efuel your vehicle with as much winter diesel fuel
as possible at the beginning of winter.
Before changing over to winter diesel fuel, the fuel
tank should be empty, if possible. When Nrst refu-
elling with winter diesel fuel, keep the fuel level
low, e.g. to reserve level. The fuel tank can be Nl-
led as usual when next refuelling.
Further information on fuel can be obtained at a
Nlling station or a qualiNed specialist workshop.

( page 374).
AdBlue n
is a water-soluble Ouid for the NOx
exhaust gas asertreatment of diesel engines.
It may be improper or punishable in some coun-
tries to operate a vehicle that uses no AdBlue n
or
one that does not comply with the speciNcations
of this Owner's Manual.
* NOTE Malfunctions due t
o the dilution of
AdBlue n
or the use of additive-enhanced
AdBlue n The function of the NOx exhaust gas
aser
-
treatment can be impaired by the use of
unsuitable denoxiNcation agents.
Only use AdBlue n
in accor
dance with
ISO 22241.
Do not dilute AdBlue n
wit
h water.
Do not use additive-enhanced AdBlue n
. *
NOTE Damag
e and malfunctions due to
impurities in AdBlue n Consequences of impurities in AdBlue
n
:
= incr

eased emission values
= damage to the catalytic converter
= NOx exhaust gas asertreatment malfunc-
tions
Avoid impurities in AdBlue n
. AdBlue
n
r
esidues crystallise aser a period of
time, and contaminate the surfaces with which
they come into contact. Clean the dirty surfaces
with water as soon as possible.
When you open the AdBlue n
tank, small amounts
of ammonia vapour may escape. Do not inhale any ammonia vapours that may be released. Only

consum
ption
The average AdBlue n
consumption is between 1%
and 5% of fuel consumption. Like fuel consump-
tion, AdBlue n
consumption is highly dependent
upon driving style and operating conditions. For
this reason, your vehicle's actual consumption Ng-
ures in day-to-day operating conditions may diMer
from the consumption Ngures calculated. The fre-
quency at which you will have to top up AdBlue n
will also vary. Have the AdBlue n
supply checked
at a qualiNed specialist workshop before making
journeys outside Europe. Before a longer stay out-
side Europe, consult a qualiNed specialist work-
shop. Technical data

range and Nll level
The AdBlue n
Nll level and range can be displayed
via the on-board computer. The AdBlue n
range
shown depends strongly on the driving style and
operating conditions. The actual range may there-
fore deviate from the range currently displayed on
the on-board computer. The information supplied
in the Owner's Manual regarding the reserve
quantity at the Nrst display warning and the mini-
mum top-up quantity when the fuel tank is empty
is also to be understood as guide values. Engine oil

NOTE Engine damag
e caused by an incor-
rect oil Nlter, incorrect oil or additives
Do not use engine oils or oil Nlt

than those which meet the speciNcations
necessary for the prescribed service
intervals.
Do not alter the engine oil or oil Nlt
er in
order to achieve longer change intervals
than prescribed.
Do not use additives.
Have the engine oil changed aser t
he
prescribed intervals. Mercedes-Benz recommends having the oil
c

hanged at a qualiNed specialist workshop.
Only use engine oils approved for your vehicle by
Mercedes-Benz.
Petrol engines: for certain countries, diMerent
engine oils can be used in conjunction with
reduced maintenance intervals. Further informa-
tion on diMerent engine oils can be obtained at a
qualiNed specialist workshop.

WARNING Risk of an accident due t

vapour pockets forming in the brake sys-
tem
The brake Ouid cons
tantly absorbs moisture
from the air. This lowers the boiling point of
the brake Ouid. If the boiling point is too low,
vapour pockets may form in the brake system
when the brakes are applied hard.
This impairs the braking eMect.
Have the brake Ouid r
enewed at the
speciNed intervals. Have the brake
Ouid r
egularly replaced at a quali-

Only use a brake Ouid appr
